MAIN BODY
1. Explain the legislative framework for safety and health.
In Britain, Health and safety act has passed in the year 1974. This act provides the legal
framework for promoting high standards at workplace. It also says that every employee and
worker including managers (Epstein, 2018) should take care of themselves from the hazardous
substance and equipments at the workplace. The act assigns duty to all the employers for the
safety of people working under them.
If any employee does not follow the safety rules mentioned under the act then the health
and safety executive has the rights to give them notice for the same. Act provides the legal
framework to use safe articles and secured plants and machinery which should not harm any
employee. Every equipment should be handled with care so that it will not harm workers in the
factory (Hofmann, Burke and Zohar, 2017).
2. Analyses on the policies, procedures and practices in own setting to meet health, safety and
risk management requirements.
Organization should make such policies for the workers and employees which helps them
in being safe and secured during the working hours in the company. The workplace should make
such plan for safety and there must be a proper management to implement the same.
Factory where a manufacturing process is being carried on, in such workplace there must
be a safety team and a safety officer should be appointed who should take care that all the
machinery are properly working and employees are using safety equipment while running the
plant. And organization should measure the safety and health performance to manage the risk
regarding the same.
3. Explain the actions to take when health, safety and risk management, procedures and practices
are not being complied with.
A sudden action is required to be taken if policies and procedures are not being followed.
A special responsible person should be appointed in the company who ensure that all the risk
assessments are up to date. However, If any employee or management finds that things are not
going right then they can report for the same to the assigned safety officer(Woods and et.al.,
2017). Many times, members of the staff does not follow the basic rules of safety that is the
reason A special training should be conducted in order to provide guidelines to the employees so
that they can follow it for their own safety.

4. Measure own practice in promoting a balanced approach to risk management
As a health and safety officer, I continuously measure my own activity by promoting a
proportionate formulation to risk management. I do this by conducting the meetings with
employees and the new joinee in the company. Daily discussions are made to know the problems
and for evaluating the risk. Risk should be met by giving proper guidelines to the workers and all
the request of the employees are taken in to account. I measure my own practice by knowing that
daily consultation should be hold with the higher authorities so that all the problems can be
discussed, and plans should be made for the same. As the officer of the leading organisation I
have to balance the risk of the company in the best possible way (Kerzner and Kerzner, 2017).
5.Examine how helping others to understand the balance between risk and rights improves
practice
Risks and rights always helps in improving the practice by knowing the individual rights
and its views with others. Safety measure should be taken by considering the amount of risk first
and then it should be checked that all the necessary equipments are placed and how they are
helping in improving the excellence. Risk should always be managed properly in such a way that
it should be managed next time whenever a risky situation arises (Rothrock, 2018). A complete
understanding of everything is really important to manage the risk in a proper way. And it can be
majorly classified through systematic analysis of the situation.
6. Measure the policies of risk management, safety and health and, procedures and practices for
the same within the work setting.
There are wide policies and procedures at a workplace to manage the safety and risk for
the employees and management of the company as a whole. An organization should make such
policies that like every accident should be properly investigated and organization should know
the reason behind so that it will not happen again in the future (Brownson,2017). Proper first aid
box and fire safety extinguisher must be kept in the company for the safety of workers. Shelters
for the rest of employees must be constructed and drinking facility on every few workers(Risk
management, 2017).
