AI Summary
This report delves into the critical aspects of health, safety, and security within the context of health and social care. It begins by identifying potential hazards that may arise in this environment, categorizing them into physical, equipment-related, infectious, working conditions, and substance-related hazards, and outlining the potential harm to workers and the broader implications. The report then explores the influence of legal policies and procedures, such as the Health and Safety Act and food safety regulations, in ensuring a safe working environment and safeguarding the well-being of individuals receiving care. A risk assessment analysis is presented, detailing the probability and degree of risk, along with corresponding control strategies and monitoring methods. Finally, the report examines priorities in handling two specific incidents: mental illness and heart attack, discussing preventive measures, diagnostic approaches, and immediate actions. The conclusion emphasizes the significance of risk assessment in social care and the importance of proactive measures to mitigate potential hazards and ensure the safety of all stakeholders.

INTRODUCTION:
To live a healthy and long life the health and safety measures must be taken by the society. in this
assignment what are the possible hazards that can occur in social and health care are shown.
Further what is the influence of legal policies and procedures in social care is shown. In additiona
to this a risk assessment analysis is also been carried out to find out the degree of risk and their
control measures. At last the two incidents is shown and what responses is taken while dealing with
it.
P 1 Potential hazards and harm that arises in social care.
There are major hazards that relates to physical environment. The physical hazards are caused by
the environment. It includes rise in temperature, pollution, etc. These can affect the entire working
conditins of the organisation. Hazards related to equipments means not correctly and safely using
them which can cause harm to workers. Infestious hazards relate to use of wrong materials and is
related to workers own health. They are the bacteria which spreads quickly from others. The
working conditions hazards are noise, air, etc The substance hazards is wrong use of chemicals.
From the above hazards the workers can be harmed in various ways such as there is a possibility of
injury or spearding of infection in other workers. Due to this there may be stress among the workers
and they might not be able to work. These hazards can also lead to loss of life and premises. These
hazards can be in industries, schools, parks, etc. The people who are exposed to these hazards
include workers, visitors, support staff, etc. The actions that can be taken for improvemnets are
daily health check up of workers must be done,a clinic must be set up, seminars must be organised
for creating awareness about social health care. In seminars the role of individuals in providing
social care should be discussed. The problmes regarding the various diseasesa and whct precustion
must be taken in order to cure that must be explained to people (Baum,., 2016)
P 2 Legal policies influence in social and health care.
The various guidelines that are made by the government of country plays a important role in
ensuring the health and safety of workers. The health and safety act, food safety at, etc ensures
providing better working conditions, food and safety of workers in the industry. It protect from
harm and damage to the adults, children, etc. It influences them by protecting from things that affect
their health. There are various policies and procedures which are to be followed while fire
evacuation, in storing of medicines, security of premises.,etc. These enables the people to work
freely in the environment. The policies also defined the role of workers, people, how to use
services, so that they can work within their defined roles and responsibilities (Makai, and et.al,
2014)
P 3 Risk assessment in health care
Probability score Degree of risk Control strategy Monitoring
1 Not very likely the risk can be
controlled by making
strong health and safety
measures.
It can be monitored by
successfully
implementing the
measures.

2 Low risk The risk can be
controlled by taking
precautions.
Observing the effect
after taking
precautions.
3 Moderate This can be controlled
by taking proper
actions.
By montioring that it
do not happen next
time.
4 Possible It can be controlled by
taking action before
any hazard.
Taking measures
during the hazard.
5 Very possible The risk can be
removed by effective
measures.
The risk can be
controlled by installing
safety devices.
it is done to reduce the risk of harm occuring. In this the risk is identified and potential actions are
taken in order to reduce the harm. The first step taken in this to identtify the probablity of
happening of hazard which can cause harm. The next step is to calculate the degree of risk on a
scale of 1-5. the next step is to take measures on how to control risk. This step in most improtant the
risk can be comletely removed if proper measures are taken. In the last step the precautions are
taken to reduce the risk by following the instructions given by officer.
P 4 Priorities taken when dealing with two incidents.
Mental illness- in this the person faces a lot of problems in daily life. It can affect mood, health and
behavior of a person. There are different types of mental disorder like depression, anxiety
disorders, etc.It can happen due to genetic and environmental factors. Genetic includes parents
having depression. Environment includes the social or culture factors. It can lead to taking drugs.
This can be prevented by doing regular exercise and meditation. This will lead to living a stressful
life. proper diet taking is also a effective measure in removing menral illness as it ensures good
health The first precaution taken is to identify the warning signs. After that visiting a doctor or
therapist (Duckett, . and Willcox, 2015)
Heart attack- it happens when a muscle in heart is full of oxygen blood. Sometimes it can lead to
death. The signs of this are chest paining, becoming short of breath, etc. The heart attack can be
minimised by taking healthly food and regularly checking the blood pressure. Taking regular heart
related medicines can help in preventing the chances of heart attack. This can be diagonsed by
checking the blood pressure, taking to hospital, etc.
Conclusion:
this report shows that the risk assessment is most important factor in in social care. It must be
carriede out in order to finding out the probablity of occuring of hazards. The various hazards are
related to environmental, equipment, etc. and it can affect the people like children, workers, etc.
Further it shows the legal acts like health and safety act and its influence on social care is discussed
At last the two incidents of mental illness and heart attack is described and what are the priorities
taken while dealing with it.
