INTRODUCTION
Security, safety and health these three are the main components which are necessary to
examined in social and health care. In this present time period, people needs safety and security
for their living. The safety and security of every person is necessary in the service industry. In
this present business report discuss about some potential harms and also hazards which may be
arise from the health and social care (Reeves and et. al., 2011). There is also discussion
regarding the possible responses and also priorities at the time of dealing with the emergencies
and also specific incidents in the health and social care settings.
TASK 1
P1 Harm and Potential hazards that may arise from each in health or social care setting
Hazards are concerned to the any thing which can harm to anyone. It can be every where
like ta the workplace, at home etc. There are various kinds of hazards like for an instance safety,
security and also health hazards. There are different types is hazards mentions below which are
available in the Health and Social care settings:
Physical environment- The elements of physical environment are always present in the
environment of an organisation. But in case environment will not effective then it many cause
harm to the staff members and also to the consumers. Under this different hazards are included
such as noise pollution, room temperature, security system and some other things.
Harm and abuse- If people or staff members of an organisation will not use the proper
equipments or machineries then from this the injury will be happen (Duckett and Willcox, 2015).
The acquired infection can be happen, in case people will not use chemicals in a proper way then
it can cause the heath issues to people. In context to this, it is necessary for people to see the
signs of dangers and other alert sign other wise it will be premises.
Setting- Under this various kinds of care homes are included such as day care, infant,
pre- schools schools, residential care homes etc. These all care homes provides the effective
services to the people where they want to receive.
For an example- In the pre- school, it is necessary that in this the toys should not be
harmful and feeding should be proper which can not reach the harm to children.
Individuals- Under this includes some people are included like those persons who receive
the care, care staff, visitors and also support staff. In care staff is based on the visiting settings. It

is necessary for care staff should know about the meeting times of relatives or friends with the
patient. In the support staff includes cleaners, caters. They should take care that workplace
should be clear and food should be of good quality (Detels and et. al., 2011). The visitors should
know about the meeting timings with the patient ill person.
TASK 2
P2 Legislations procedures and policies related to safety, security and health
Under this following points are included:
Legislation and guidelines- It is necessary for firm to apply the food safety act, health and
safety at the workplace etc. If there is any kind of injury or accidents happen at workplace, then
manager should report that.
Influences- If firm will provide the training to employees, then staff can provide effective
services to people. Location of health care homes should be proper where people can refer easily
and should also provide proper equipments or facilities.
Policies and procedures- It is necessary that health care firms should follow all the
policies and procedures in an effective or proper manner (Keleher and MacDougall, 2015). In
policies includes reporting of incidents, fire evacuation, safeguarding etc.
Roles- At the workplace, every one should know their roles and responsibilities w3hether
they are staff members, service users, Trusts, care staffs etc.
TASK 3
P3 Risk assessment in social and health care
In order to execute risks assessment some points are given below:
Risk assessment- For reducing the hazard, it is necessary to identify them and take some
appropriate actions to reduce them because hazards can reach the harm to everyone.
Calculating risk degree- It is necessary to calculate the degree of risks. It can be
measured from giving the 1-5 scaling like 1 means not like, 3 means moderate risk and 5 means
probable.
Controlling risk- Under this firm should identify the ways to remove or minimize the
risk. If risk will be controlled, then risk will be reduced and people will work in an effective or
proper manner.

Monitoring ways- Under this, care officers should monitor that in what manner risk can
be controlled by following all the instructions or guidelines.
Reappraising risk- Safety officer should do the continuous evaluation for reducing any
kind of risk and regularly follow this process (Cooper and Quick, 2017).
TASK 4
P4 Possible responses and priorities when dealing with incidents or emergencies in health
Abuse is a kind of behaviour which is regarding a person which causes the harm to the
rights and dignity of people.
Emergencies and incidents- It is necessary for firm to follow a procedure for keeping
the person safe by reducing the impact of harm. Safety officer should aware the people about the
proper use of chemicals, proper use of equipments, provide guidance related to use of
machineries or equipments.
Responses- It is necessary to maintain some dignity by minimising the risks. From this
the incidents will be less occurred (Sandall and et. al., 2010). Safety officer should aware people
about the evacuation procedure, deal with any kind of abuse, role of first aid box and many other.
Priorities- At the time of dealing with with any kind of emergencies and incidents , it is
necessary to follow all the rules and policies in an effective manner. In this includes assure
about the people safety, review of procedures and policies, environment etc.
CONCLUSION
It has been concluded from the given report that health and safety is necessary for an
organisation and an individual. It is important to minimize the impact of hazards. In this given
report studied about the legislations, procedures and policies for promoting the security, health
and safety in the health and social care.
