INTRODUCTION
Health, Safety and Security plays a very crucial role in the health and social care. A
healthy individual or society will remain safe and secure which will lead them to work better in a
very good environment and development of the social wellness. A healthy and safe society will
work together and will make this world idol place for living (Gostin and Wiley, 2016). Besides
this, securing the health and safety of an individual or a society is also very important to ensure
the well being of the people and the surrounding environment. In this report, the potential
hazards will be discussed that can affect the health and social well being. Also, the effect of
legislation will be discussed with the risk assessment. Besides this the possible priorities and
responses to deal an emergency of health and security.
P1. Hazard in social care settings
There are many factors that can affect the social and health well being. The factors which
can affect the well being will be very crucial and unavoidable by the society for its well being
The potential hazard in the social care are:
Musculoskeletal disorders
workplace violence
Slips, trips and falls at workplace as well as the other place.
Chemical hazard and drug abuse
Tuberculosis (TB)
Any sort of difference in the work place will help the individual or society to make the essential
measures that can affect the functionality of the individual employee or the complete team
(Bowman, 2013). This will also affect the social well being and the physical, mental and social
health of the employee's.
P2. Effect of legislation policies and procedures
The legislation or the law will play a very crucial role in the well being of the society.
The government follows the policy of the social well being which will affect the overall
functionality of the society. Some measures taken by government are:
Governments can handle the time to time health check ups so that the individuals as well
as the society as the whole can be benefited and work in a more strategic way.
Development of vaccinations and life saving drugs and distributing them at low cost for
the people who can't afford them.

Distribution of hearing aids and other prosthetics to the disabled and needy people at free
or low cost so that they can too work efficiently and in a effective menner.
P3 Risk assessment in the health and social care
The risk assessment is very necessary for the health and social well being as it will help
the society to work in a very effective manner. This will decide that whether the individual or the
society, as a whole is working properly or not. The risk assessment is done by taking into
consideration the potentially vulnerable population of the society (Machado and et.al., 2015).
The people will help in the safeguarding the work place as well as the environment. People uses
this service to take the care of their needs freedoms and dignity for physical, social and mental
well being. The risk management or assessment process doesn't include huge paperwork and it
identifies and take sensible and calculated measures to control the risks. This assessment process
will tell you which safety measure to take for better risk prevention. Some common risk
assessment factors are:
Risks in premises: this includes the risk factors that are prevailed in an organisational
premises while an individual or the team working internally of the company. This
includes the risks of accidents from asbestos, soap stones, chemicals, electrical
equipments and transportation.
Risks in services: it includes the risk factors that include the chances of an incident or
accident met by people while they are using a service or facility. While the people who
are at risk can't do anything much about it, the people who are not in the risk can avoid
being the risk factors (Fortinash and Worret, 2014). It includes the risk like falling from
the height or slipping from a place which can be harmful.
Individual risks: it includes the risk factors of faced by an individual at a work place
which can affect the safety or the well being of the individual person. For example a
pregnant lady or an unskilled worker at the work place.
Individual risk affecting a group: the individual accidents that can affect a team or a
society due to an individual person and may need more people to handle the casualty or
stress condition.

Various measures can be taken to improve the work efficiency and risk prevention of an
individual as well as the society. These measures are needed to be taken not only well being of
the society but also reduce the risk factor that can affect the well being of the society.
Dealing a physically disable person: a physically disable person needs a special care
while working with in order to prevent any casualty or accident (Bauman and Nutbeam,
2013). One can perform and adopt various functionalities which can help an individual
working with the disabled person. Using the escalators, ramp or other facility will help
the company to tackle such employees.
Dealing with cancer patients: a cancer patient require great deal of care and risk
prevention to avoid any condition that can affect the productivity and profitability of the
company without affecting the health condition of the cancer patient (Antheunis, Tates
and Nieboer, 2013). If he requires, regular check ups and facilities he can do the work
from his home too.
CONCLUSION
Thus, from the report it can be conclude that healthcare and social well being is very
important in the smooth and efficient functioning of the society. Besides this, it is been discussed
that government ant legislation too plays a very crucial role in the well being of the society and
contribute to a great extent. Apart from this, various risk assessment factors are been discussed
based on which the health and social care services can make well being policies. Also, we have
discussed various cases and how to handle them.
