1.1 Implementation of the system and policies which
ensures the proper flow of communication and information
regarding health and safety
Winchester and Eastleigh NHS Trust has analyzed various difficulties in ensuring
the proper flow of communication and regarding the health and safety within the
hospital. As various incidents regarding the slips an trip of the employees were
noticed due to the wet floors of the hospitals. According to the health and safety
records of 2002 to 2004, various problems are been recognized by the staff
members of Winchester and Eastleigh NHS Trust (Robinson, 2019). So, there
must be an effective to formulate the health and safety legislation that
supports the implementation of system, policies and procedures within the
hospital. Various policies and procedures are as follows:
Care planning: This helps in implementation of the effective strategy that
ensures safety policies in the form of formulating the plan that derives the
secure practices for the employees at workplace. Implementing the safety
policies allows the employees of Winchester and Eastleigh NHS Trust helps
in promoting the safe, secured and healthy environment at workplace.
Dilemmas: In order to effectively communicate the information regarding
the risk and assessment of the health and social services at Winchester and
Eastleigh NHS Trust (Thornton and et.al., 2016). This procedure is
generally used to access the risk and different priorities among stakeholders.
Management of health and safety: It is the responsibility of organization
to evaluate the health and safety policies which includes the formulation of
the WHS (Work Health and Safety Management System). This policy and
procedure ensure the inspection at workplace.
Personal and organization practice: while communicating the information
regarding the health and safety policies of the employees, system and
strategies are tend to vary from one place to another. In order to lead the
health and safety environment, Winchester and Eastleigh NHS Trust should
largely focus on the needs and responsibilities of the employees.
Safety and healthy environment: This policy ensures the communication
and interaction of the different types of the departments within a hospital in
order to report about the hazardous situations of slips and trips. This
situation lead to the problem of injury among the employees under the
Riddor (Reporting of dangerous diseases or occurrence Regulation) in
Winchester and Eastleigh NHS Trust. Enforcement of this policy has
resulted in the reduction of the 85% reduction in the fall of the employees
due to the wet floors in hospitals.
Monitoring and Review: This policy leads to the implementation of the policy
that helped in reviewing the problems, risks and threats. As the problem slips and
trips in been continuously occurring within the staff members due to the wet floors
of the Hospital Winchester and Eastleigh NHS Trust. So Health and safety
executive recommended in using the dry moping system which can be possible by
training the house keeping department to use fibre moping that helps in limiting the
amount of fluid on the floor. Obesity rates in children by 2030
There is a great need to regulate these objectives in accordance with a legislative
framework. There are collective efforts from all the leading retail companies such
as ASDA, TESCO and other health organizations like NHS, PHE etc. Few ethical
issues are Increased hike in pricing of few products that affect the affordability
factor for people. Also, the media platforms are under constant monitoring
regarding the statistics and other details to public Here, promotions and advertising
1.2 Assessment of various responsibilities that helps in
proper formulations of Health and safety within
Staffordshire NHS trust
All the workplace generally consists of different types of departments which
need to be coordinated and also formulated accordingly. So, in order to
detect the health and safety security at workplace, different types of
stockholders are involved such as employers, owners, supervisors, workers,
contractors and suppliers are legally responsible for such health and safety
issues within organization. All these persons are able to determine the way
they used to carry out all the practices in hospitals regarding the health and
safety of large number of people (Vladutiu, And et.al., 2016). In-spite of all
these supervisors in Winchester and Eastleigh NHS Trust, there is a problem
of slips and trips have been discovered on the wet floors of hospital. It is
very important to provide safe working environment to employees and to
also ensure the protection from the job hazards.
 Identifying the hazardous conditions in which employees of
Winchester and Eastleigh NHS Trust is constantly facing the problem
of slips and trips. Also, This is the responsibility of the employees to
communicate the hazards to higher authority.
 Setting up a proper health committees or representatives which
ensures the formulation of safety problems within hospital.
 Ensure safe and healthy working place that also supports the
solution of such workers who are facing harassment at workplace.
 Managers of Winchester and Eastleigh NHS Trust responsible for
timely supervision and inspection of the process by developing a
JHSC process.
 Actions need to be immediately taken as soon as the employee tells
about any hazardous situation.
Employees also plays the significant role in developing a health and safety at
workplace. So, the responsibilities of the employees are as follows:
 Proper understanding about the legal standards and legislation at
workplace.
 Acquire proper training and also peruse the health and safety
requirements that affects their job.
 Immediately report about the unsafe condition at environment.
 Personal protective Equipment must be properly checked and used
1.3 Health and safety priorities with the service area where
children are provided health care services
There is a lot of difference in treating the general people in hospital and
providing the medical services to children. As children health care services need much
more concentrated treatment as compared to any other age group because they quickly
get attacked by the serious infectious diseases. So being a director of Winchester and
Eastleigh NHS Trust, one need to implement various health and safety measures for
the children ward in hospital. As the children are generally viewed healthy as
compared to adult standards various there has been a great progress in the diseases and
death of the children. Being a director of Winchestor and Eastleigh NHS Trust, I
need to work on reinforcing a separate department for the children of all age
group which is required to be properly maintained and also dust free
environment need to be entertained. As the children health care is very delicate
and sensitive thing so they need to be properly cared in a proper observation.
Priorities in the service area that supports the health and safety for the children are as
follows:
 Floors should be properly cleaned and nurses need to be appointed for the
particular children in order to provide the better health and safety services.
 As many chemicals are used in the health care centers so these chemicals need
to be kept out of the reach of children.
 Children should be treated in Winchestor and Eastleigh NHS Trust with
the application of the expertise doctors in the same field. First and the
foremost health and safety priority of the hospital ensures the proper
treatment of the children using the personal protective equipment.
 For the safe disposal of the chemical, it is the priority of the employers
to eliminate the hazardous chemicals out of the nursery department in
hospital.
