Introduction
Facilitating change is a process to ensure that desired changes in the system bring major
differences in the quality of services provided. This assignment aims at understanding the
factors that bring change in health and social services; to evaluate the changes made recently
and also to understand the key of change in management .the real change is when there is a
difference in behaviour and thoughts, this overall will head towards providing better facilities,
services and will also be reasonably cost-effective. This whole concept of change and
management in system is for better development of the organization, which in turn provides
better facilities and services to the customers .the change should take place frequently within
the workplace either in terms of technology or alterations in their rules and provided facilities
this ultimately improves the service quality and facilities provided to the customers.
1.1
The changes made in social and health care are regulated on a daily basis in order to achieve
better patient satisfaction and overall development of the firm. There are several factors, which
influence the working of social and health care firm, the altered changes may result in positive
or negative outcomes but the ultimate thought of such changes made is for the betterment of
the firm and overall improved facilities and services provided to the patient. The analysis of this
key factor is done by an analytic tool i.e. PEST (SammutBonnici, T. & Galea, D. (2015). PEST that
stands for Political, Economic, Social, Technological., this tool highly influences the changes
provided in social and health care services.
The political factor includes the laws and policies made by the government introduced with the
aim of betterment in services of social and health care. The care act (2014) shows some
particular changes made in the current system and goal in improving the quality of care and
services provided in UK (Sommers et al., 2012). Agencies like CQC that are associated with

governmental legislative also help in driving change (Riekert, Ockene & Pbert., 2013). The
change introduced by the agency ends up being a law to be followed by the organization and
implement the provided changes in the supported firm.
The economic factors include the economic status of the organization like funds, human
resources, taxes, and resource utilization. As studied in the given case labours are inadequate
and also a major lack of human resource staff in social and health care till 2037 in UK ( Sommers
et al., 2012). this due to unsatisfactory jobs for staff and relatively low salary counts which
makes the workers turn off from their jobs which results in lesser staff and labour in the firm.
Inappropriate funds in several organizations are another major factor for failures.
Social factors include incidences related to the health of the population, cultural practices,
prevalence of diseases within a region. The appropriate changes made in social and health care
will help such instances. High prevalence of a certain disease in a particular region will direct to
change in the treatment planning the type services provided might be altered according to the
needs. The authorities of the firm or organization should adopt a certain type of strategies to
overcome the rapid spread of such diseases to service better health and care to the population
(Riekert, Ockene & Pbert., 2013).
Technological factors include the introduction of advanced technologies which provides faster
and more accurate services. The advancing technology has turned up with various alternatives
and easy methods of delivering services and management goals, which was not present earlier
(Taylor et al., 2014). With advancing treatment plans and medicines advances in technological
factors have also resulted in success example digital diagnosis, digital reports, and treatment
history can be kept as records safely and securely updated. This gives health care staff new
promoting and advancing technologies, which make them well, equipped and make either work
easy and more appropriate. Acknowledging the patient with digital monitor and sensor
equipment's help in giving point diagnosis, which builds patient confidence and satisfaction.
In the given case study of beacon edge care home among the factors that facilitate change is –
the ill management of the organization in the following medicine safely laws and regulations
that presented various issues related to patient safety. Also, lesser funds headed to reduced

staff and compromised the quality of services provided to the patient. As social and health care
is advancing rapidly in technology in order to maintain the décor and standards of the beacon
edge care home they need to improve in technological media (Taylor et al., 2014) Dealing with
the social factors where the people have their cultural values and religious believes beacon
edge care should head towards educating people about the actual facts of health care and turn
them from the myths going on since edges. The young generation can help in delivering the
elderlies.
1.2
the key factors of changes provided in social and health care as discussed have various
opportunities for staff and labours and improvement in overall development of patient and
organization but all this also comes with various unrecognised challenges to be faced. These
barriers found in the system can be either by inadequate funding, lack of labour, lack of staff or
facilities to meet these applied changes. These challenges not only restrict the organization to
apply the new changes but also affect the quality and standard of the services of a health care
firm. If the demands of the patient or population are to be fulfilled, resources and facilities
should be provided adequately (Tew et al., 2012). The challenges may be against any social,
political, economic or technological factors as discussed earlier. An example is the quantity of
staff is reduced reason either being inappropriate salary the workload increases on the other
remaining staff which indirectly affects their working skills and quality of work to do.in the
provided case study of beacon edge care home, it was reported that there was not registered
manager in post who could deal with the quality of care provided to the patient and also head
the legal responsibilities of various requirements in health and social care
For instance, if the act of care (2014) is not implemented appropriately this will conclude in
facing various barriers in serving appropriate services and care to the population or patients wit
in the organization (Sommers et al., 2012).
If the challenge is associated with inadequate funds, this will force the organization to reduce
staff and other human resources which ultimately results in improper management of the

prevalence of a certain disease in the region is again a challenge for the organization to manage
and meet the needs of populations in a particular area (Brett et al., 2014).
To overcome the challenges stated, agencies like NHS and other local authorities work as
partners to avoid farther barriers, also they deliver new changes, which are easier to
implement, and longer lasting the factors driving change and the challenges being identified
and reduced are assessed and justified by the government.
Conclusion
In this assignment, we focused on the key factors of the changes provided in health and social
care services and also the challenges faced while providing these changes in the organization.
we conclude that the factors affected are social, economic, technological, cultural, political
factors. And challenges faced are related to inadequate funds, technology, human resources,
labour. Facilitating change is a process to ensure that desired changes in the system bring major
differences in quality of services provided, This whole concept of change and management in
system is for better development of the organization, which in turn provides better facilities
and services to the customers.

Facilitating change within the organization is done to enhance the quality of the work and the
services provided to the patients or population through the desired changes made.in this
assignment, we discuss the major principles of change within the organization for better
management and quality services which results in the overall development of any firm. We also
discuss how these changes are planned and worked on for advancing social and health care
services along with this how we can keep a check or monitor whether the changes made by the
authorities for the enhancement of social services are actually applied within the organisations
or not.
3.1
Change management is defined as a process of advancing change and managing whether the
changes made by the authorities are well applied within the running system. The changes set
are integral, but to follow these new changes is the major challenge keeping in mind all the
provided guidelines. The changes brought if well managed and planned nicely can bring major
outcomes and lead to better objectives (Best et al., 2012). Different types of change
management are applied by various different organizations to manage the changes
appropriately as set within the guidelines issued. Kubler Ross five stages model, Nudge theory,
Kurt Lewin change model and bridges, ADKAR model are few widely implied model of change
management in organizations for better social and health care services.
If we discuss one of the widely accepted and oldest three-stage models that is Kurt Lewin
change management model (Shirey., 2013).
where we see that how changes can be implied within any system followed by the organization
by three very simple well to do steps that include- unfreeze, change, refreeze. If any
organization follow these three simple steps by Kurt Lewin change management model can
easily withhold the suppressing factors can achieve major establishment in social and health

care organizations. The step says that the set behaviour, thoughts and working patterns of staff
labours management team should unfreeze and they need to identify why the change, what is
the need and how this change can work in their favour and comfort. The moment their set
thoughts are altered is the best time to implement the change set of rules when these changes
are introduced in the correct way to the staff, workers and the other labours and as they accept
it with positive behaviour they have to be freeze or locked for long-lasting actions. Refreezing is
one very important last step on which the set change will be implied and will have better
longevity, which overall give complete management and enhancement to the organization and
its workers and staff (Brown & Osborne., 2012)
3.2
The planning of changes wit in the social and health care services and organizations are to
ensure if better outcomes are following or not, as these changes and planning the management
of these changes whether they are properly implied according to the set guideline are all for
better results and comfort of the working organization and its workers and staff. These changes
are managed and planned according to the demands and feasibility of organizations this
important for health and social care services (Joiner & Lusch., 2016). Various different
strategies are applied in order to make sure there are proper planning and management of
changes applied in social and health care organizations. The current times where there are
inefficient lesser staff and lack of resources only the leadership factors can help overcome the
losses and insufficiency. Leading aspect is important in order to manage and plan the desired
changed applied. The case study of Beacon edge care home shows that the management
authorities where unable to identify the proper needs and requirements of change wit in the
organization which resulted in failure of improvement in services, their agenda should be to
recognise the need of change and where and how these changes can be applied for better
outcomes in social and health care services provided by them to people.
As the youth shows up, the old elderly services and rules don't end up being adequate. The act

and wants of elderly or youth populations as there need of change and its acceptance may
differ drastically. For the planning of desired change, some major steps are taken by north
Middlesex university hospital under for guidance of local and international policies. these steps
include- creating management team for a change, support from stakeholders, describe the
scope of required change, coming up with a plan on how to set change, making an approach to
the management, also the means of communicating the plans.
It is not easy to set any change wit in any organization, various challenges are faced and one
should be ready for these barriers to deal with while in the whole process of change
implementation and management (Bowling., 2014). To overcome and avoid all these
hindrances the planning made on who to set this change wit in any organization should be
strong so that the implementation becomes easy any smooth and can be accepted by the staff
and team of the organization only then can be successfully achieved.
3.3
Monitoring the change made for the improvement of social and health care services is a
process of re-evaluating and reviewing whether the changes implemented are working the
same way as set wit in the system of any organization (Macinko & Harris., 2015) to ensure
longevity and positive outcome of any desired change made it is necessary to monitor as that
the only essential part of positive results, as the changes can be set and may be accepted by the
staff any members of organization but to review whether the set changes are working the
similar way as planned is important.it is also necessary to monitor that if the changes made are
providing any better outcomes in favour of organization as well as the population. The change
in the implementation of acts as discussed previously in support of mentally sick people in the
UK should be monitored to check if improved results are followed. Monitoring can be done by
various means- feedbacks from employees and labours, feedback and suggestions from the
patients and also their family members, routine and frequent inspect, audits.
To check whether the changes made are implemented in the correct way and with similar
standards, a close and personal inspection should be done with respect to the patient and their

family members. The ways followed by the employees cannot be changed in a single day or a
few days but setting changes in these ways of there work and making them understand that
these set changes are for there own comfort can help with the plan of change later re-
evaluating with them can help giving overall better results and successful running of social n
health care organizations (Dredze., 2012) Agencies like CQC should conduct audits and
inspections once in every six months without fail to rule out if any misconduct is happening
within the organization. The routine inspection help in monitoring improvements in the services
after the provided change made. Routine feedbacks from patients’ acquaintance help in better
development of the organization according to the requirements of the patients (Curtis & Burns.,
2015).
Conclusion
In this assignment, we focused on principles of change management, on how these changes
made for the welfare of social and healthcare services can be planned to get better outcomes
and also on how these set changes can be monitored and re-evaluated timely by routine
inspection, feedbacks from patients and the working staff and timely audits. When all the
desired changes are well planned managed, properly introduced in favour of the staff and
population and later monitoring of these changes going on in the correct way can without fail
to give successful results in favour of all.
