INTRODUCTION
The concept of communication in health and social care is all about making contacts with
people as well as being understood. While delivering care services to patients and people, there
is a need of effective communication as it can make things easy such as providing efficient care
services to patients can help them to regain their physical health as well as improve their well-
being. In the report, there is a discussion about several factors that can make impact over
communication process in health and social care sectors. In this, there is also a discussion about
various advantages and difficulties of information and communication technology in the social
and health care practices. As ICT can effectively furnish the capacity to enhance the well-being
systems ratio as well as can effectively prevent the various medical errors (Succi and Canovi,
2020).

The term “communication” is generally a process which involves the sharing of
information among people between and outside a health and social care sectors, both of which
are equally essential. Through having effective communication, health and social care sectors
can easily able to illustrate their offerings, its policies as well as the other terms to the client and
care workers they specifically deal with. In this, it is quite essential to communicate with patients
and care workers in order to attain the positive objectives that can influence organization's
outcome (Lovell, 2018). While talking about theoretical approaches to communication in
healthcare organization, there are various theories that are quite applicable to care sectors such as
Behavioural, Cognitive, Humanistic, Psychoanalytical theories. And, the very two theoretical
approaches in order to communicate in health and social care are as detailed below:
Behavioural theory: The theory generally relates to how people can behave to sort out
some ways of dealing with people for effectiveness via thinking, acting and feeling. It
usually concentrates on a particular behaviour and can highlights the present and future
requirements of patient. In this, the theory is broadly based over the learned responses

unusual behaviours. In this, behaviour of patient is not something inborn but it can be
shaped by specific experiences which a patient can encounter to the end his life. In this,
the basic concepts of mind is generally categorized into three sub sections such as
conscious, preconscious and unconscious. In context with conscious mind, it is generally
a feeling or a desire that patient might feel at present. In context with preconscious, it is a
particular event or a memory which individual found easy to recollect (Doris, Cheng and
Wang, 2018). And, in case of unconscious mind, it is specifically a large region that can
be challenging to recollect memories and these such can be caused by experiences of the
conscious behaviour.
There are the forms of communication in health and social care that can help to
communicate with other care workers and with patients in order to deliver an effective care to
increase their well-being. The types of communication used such as verbal and non-verbal. In
this, having an effective communication in healthcare organization not only enhance the care
services but it can also create better working environment for care workers as it can creates more
transparency as well as openness associated to the regular activities and needs of patients and

can provide enough autonomy to the group of people, can also furnish high communication
