the privacy of every patient and thus separate hall or rooms for male and female is necessary to
provide safety.
Dignity and independence: it is necessary for health services to respect every patient and
treat them with dignity because lack of respect or dignity will mentally affect patient and also
they will feel unsafe. Independence of every patient is necessary as it is their right and so they
should not be restricted or forced for things which they don’t prefer (Weaver et al, 2013).
1.2
It is the responsibility of Fleetwood hall home to protect service users and service providers
from any possible harm and for this certain measures can be adapted for ensuring safety and
protection. As seen in the case scenario, Fleetwood hall home lacks safety measures and
protection policies which need to be applied for both workers and service user (Lymbery, 2010).
Fleetwood hall home needs to adapt to the following measures:
First and foremost safety policies and protective laws should be developed and
implemented to ensure safety.
Risk assessment programs should be established which will allow the services to assess
possible risk and prevent the action from occurring.
Working in partnership will allow the service providers to effectively care for service
users and protect workers as well as service user from any harm.
Keeping a patient record and an annual patient report will allow them to understand the
condition of every patient and thus assess risk and prevent any harm.
The case study mentions about problems people face in Fleetwood hall home regarding safety
for which following measures can be considered
Female and male rooms and toilets need to be separated to prevent any harm and
ensure safety.
People with unusual behavior should be kept separately from the rest of the people to
ensure safety to everyone.
Care providers should communicate with service users and consider their complaints
and take necessary measures.

services to include patient in decision making and provide them care and support according to
themselves. It also helps health services to provide services effectively and not depend on
financial and other factors in providing services. It helps in the growth of the individual by
ensuring their involvement in care planning. This approach allows service providers to
understand the requirement of every individual and this helps them to develop a customized
care plan for every individual. It helps to develop satisfaction in service users when they are
involved in care planning and helps in faster recovery. This approach will allow service users to

In given case systems theory will provide a better applicability as the organization is facing
issues with competency to services and patient satisfaction. When the organizational structure
will work according to the theory by making sure each aspect of health and social care can work
under a proper leader and have supervised working. Also the working together principle will be
applicable as the reports from the agency for the given case indicated lack of collaborative
working between the staff (Levesque, Harris and Russell, 2013). Social learning other than this
is another important factor that can enhance the attitude of staff members at the Fleetwood Hall

Social processes are referred to as social engagement and confinement and a man requires
these social interactions to lead a better life. As man is defined as a social animal that depends
on social processes for quality living and cannot live in isolation. It is always seen through
different studies that social interactions prove to be beneficial for recovery of the patients and
also enhancing their mental health status and wellbeing (Chambers, Wilson, Thompson, and
Harden, 2012). Similarly in Fleetwood Hall Home the social processes that are missing
somewhere if applied the patients can have better experience of their life and have positive
effects on their wellbeing. Some of the social interactive programmes can be organized in the
care home for the patients to interact with each other about their life and express their feelings.
They can also indulge their patients into activities of social interest and community upbringing
that will lead them to enhance their social circle and be more comprehensive and open to the
world. The therapeutic effects of social process on patients are well known and can be easily
associated with the given scenario. Even the patient centered approach practiced in modern
medicine is the effort towards enhancing social processes. The patient should get equal chance
to interact with their guide and care provider and also be allowed to get involve in their care
plans. It is also seen that such interactive sessions weekly may have beneficial effects on
patient suffering from depression and anxiety. Social activities also have huge impact on the
way a person lie, heir way of thinking and also affects their behavior that present good effects
on the patient’s recovery. It is evident that human beings enjoy socializing and they have to be
connected with each other in order to lead a better and effective life (Chung, 2013).

Inter professional working is referred to the phenomenon of working in collaboration with one
another, health and social care is the area where inter professional working is of great
significance as doctors, nurse, professionals and others have to work with each other in order to
achieve a common goal (Salas and Frush, 2012). In Fleetwood Hall Home the interprofessional
working lacks to a great extent that is found out to be the great cause of its failure and
inefficiency of its services. Team work is very important aspect in health and social care.
Professionals working in collaboration work better as a team and deliver better services than
those who work individually without collaborative strategies. Clear division of roles in a team is
important factor ad reduces conflicts and ensure smooth working in partnership. In given case in
the care home team work and inter professionals working is utmost requirement of the hour to
improve the services and produce better results. Interacting with each other and providing
details for the patient’s care is important for the staff members in the care home. This will
provide them with better understanding of the overall condition of the patient and also make the
aware of how to proceed with the further care plan. The patient is the greatest beneficiary of this
approach as the services provided by collaborative working yields better and positive results. It
will help in providing satisfaction to the service user as well as ensure delivery of better care to
them. The service standards and care will be easily achieved as well the fundamental
regulations and work ethics will be followed. Misconduct can happen at individual level but while
working as a team the chances of misconduct reduces making the patient’s more secure
(Thomas, 2012). In addition to these advantages it will reduce the overloading of particular
professionals and provide equal responsibilities to every individual present in the care process
of the patient.

An individual working in an organization in the health and social care sector has a number of
responsibilities which they have to fulfill. I have learned many skills and have accustomed
myself to abide by my duties and responsibilities. The policies and legislations implemented by
organizations guided me into performing my role properly. Every individual working in a care
home should follow a code of conduct that demands the virtue of honesty, ethics, compassion
and respect from them. The staff members should respect their coworkers as well as their
patients and must provide them every assistance that they need. Mutual respect and
understanding is very important to run a care home. The services provided to the service users

Team work is very important aspect in health and social care.

should be as per their requirements and need. All the facilities provided to the service users like
bathrooms, beds, food etc. should be hygienic. Hand hygiene should also be given importance
(Mehtar et al, 2008). The staff members should be informed about the illness of each member in
the care home and they should work as a team to device an efficient treatment plan for all the
service users. The facilities provided for the treatment of the patients should be efficient and up
to date. One of the most important skill that is required to fulfill the role of a health and social
care worker is communication. As a healthcare worker, I have built good communication with all
my colleagues as well as my patients. Communication is necessary as it gives you an insight of
other person’s thought process. Maintaining good communication with the patients helped me
understand the thought process of my patients which in turn helped me to provide the services
they needed. Good communication also builds trust and thus the patients can also relieve their
psychological stress, which accelerates their treatment. Maintaining good communication with
my coworkers made me understand their goals and gave me an insight to their opinions which
helped all of us work together as a team (Mitchell et al, 2012). The service that is to be provided
to the users should be patient centered and thus the patient must be allowed to make decisions
regarding their treatment.

There are many policies and legislations that are set up external agencies as well as the local
authorities. External agencies like NHS, NICE regulate a set of standards and policies that
should be followed by the organizations to provide good quality care to the patients. But every
care home should introduce their own set of policies and guidelines apart from the set
guidelines from the external agencies. The policies that are set up by the care homes should be
in accordance with the needs of the patients in the care home. These policies should be
implemented and amended on a regular basis to avoid any conflicts within the organization. I
worked in a care home for elderly people and the care home implemented their own policies
apart from the policies set up by the external agencies. These legislations were formulated by
the opinions of the staff members and by the relevance of the complaints lodged by the service
users. Since, most of the complaints were of misconduct and ill-treatment, strict laws were laid
down which demanded all the members of the organization to attend to their patients
respectfully. These policies instilled dignity and equality among the members of the organization
and thus it also built a healthy environment for the patients. Policies should also be
implemented to safeguard the confidentiality of the patients (Sadan, B., 2001). Every care home
