INTRODUCTION
In this assignment, we will discuss the case of Mr Benjamin who has diabetes. We will assess
the perception of people with specific need. We will discuss the different policies; procedure
and system are made available for the individual with the specific need. Mrs Kamanda a polish
woman has faced many difficulties’ in adjusting herself in HSC. We will assess the current
system in managing her. There are various strategies and approaches are made available to
support people with special need. The effectiveness of strategies has been made for the service
user. Mr Joseph who is patient of dementia has suffered lots of problem in maintaining the
health status. He is so rude and not taking medicine or time and many times refuse for any
treatment.

1.1
Health may be defined as a state of complete mental, physical and social wellbeing without the
absence of disease (Glasby, 2017). It is conditions where the person is free from any diseases.
Maintaining good health means free from any infection and maintain good hygiene. Disability
can be defined as a physical and mental state of an individual that may restrict the body
movement and the person may not allow acting normally.
Now a day, health and social care is a vital element in day to day life. However, in the modern
era, the perception has been changed a lot. In the earlier time, the people have used services in
the emergency but now a day’s people are so aware and conscious towards health and
disability. They are now following routine checkup and attending screening program. In the case
of Mr Benjamin and his family member should be conscious about health and to maintain good
health. It would play a great role in maintaining and improving the condition (Glasby, 2017). Mr
Benjamin has been diagnosing with blood sugar and with time he may go angry and get
irritated on small things.
Apart from diabetes, he has irritating behavior and not taking medicine on time and his family
member was so busy to take care of him. The irritating nature and forgetting medicine can be
taken care of by the HSC organization. Thus Mr Benjamin should be admitted in the HSC setting
so that he should receive proper care and attention and his need could be fulfilled and the staff
member will always be there to fulfil his basic demands all time (Boulware et al., 2016).

With the time the perception of people with specific need has been changed. The beliefs,
values and need of the individual have been changed with time. An individual with the special
need may be more susceptible to harm, abuse, exploitation, scarcity and violation as compared
to another individual in the society (Keleher, and MacDougall, 2015). If the factors of
susceptibility have not been identifying they it may lead to serious life threating condition for
their psychological and physical condition that may have the great impact on health and
wellbeing of individuals and their basic rights
As in the case of Mr Benjamin has been diagnosing with a mental disorder may not
communicate properly as he is not able to specify their needs. He won’t be able to speak due to
their age factor, stigma, disability or fear. He won’t be able to complain or voice a need when
he has not provided and assistance (Keleher, and MacDougall, 2015).
Mr Benjamin has been reported in involving the violent behaviours, when he wants something
or to convey some message when no one is there to listen, then he has found something or
same way to transfer his message or needs. Thus it may clear to understand his situation and
like this, the perception of society has been changed with time. With the changing custom and
trends in the society, the perception of an individual with specific need has changed. The
philosophical thought and opinion of the individual have generated the matter of perception of
special need over time. In the previous era, disability had been considered as been bad spirit as
in Roman and Greek empire considered that physically disable offspring should be deemed or
isolated from their families (Benjenk, and Chen, 2018). Some individuals believe that torturing
and beating the person to remove the evil spirit from the person. But in the contemporary
world, disability has been accepted fully. The society or the organizations is providing better
care and treatments for the disabled person.

The terms and policies are very beneficial in governing any sector in the worldwide (Ginis et al,
2017). HSC organization has also adopted various laws and policies to regulate the services.
Some are
Health and social care act 2012:
This act has provided various laws and rules that are to be adopted for health care worker and
the service seekers in the HSC sector. proceeding this act not only provide guidelines for the
service seeker and health care worker but also providing various facilities in managing the
services and also achieving the improvement related to the workplace in the HSC setting (Wood
et al., 2018).
National Health Services Act 2006
NHS is providing funds and help in managing the funds in the HSC sectors. NHS work under the
guidance of UK government. It helps in assessing the functions of social care services.
In the UK, Rosery Community is providing care and treatment to the population OF UK.
Community and custom are important in the flourishing of the HSC organizations (Kauffman,
2017). With the increasing, the awareness of individual towards good health may have a
positive impact on growth. As with the case of Mr Benjamin, we can conclude that his family is
not supportive to take care of him and as so it may reflect the change perception of the society.

2.1
In order to manage protection operation, first, need to assess the care need of people. In the
given case story, we will assess the condition of Mrs. kamanda who is partially deaf and blind
and how the HSC setting helps her in an effective manner. She was a polish woman and was
very happy when someone speaks polish (Kauffman, 2017). As in the HSC sector, the nurses
may find it difficult to communicate with her properly as she does not know English. And so it is
difficult to achieve proper care and treatment. The HSC workers are taking care of her by
providing medicine on time, taking bath and eating on time. On additionally, she is registered
blind a hence in night times she may want something like water or going to the washroom, as it
may cause accidental injury and so the health care worker or nurses should be taken care of
her.
Other than this, the hearing problem or lack of proper communication is another big concern.
Mrs Kamanda is showing unpredictable behaviour sometimes (Stokes, 2017). The HSC worker
should understand the mentality of older people because, in old age, they were mostly get
ignored by their loved one or family member due to the tight schedule. Thus she has been tried
to show manoeuvres so that his action could be visible. Also sometimes she could even hurt
herself due to frustration. Thus we can evaluate that HSC worker can provide special care and
treatment to Mrs Kamanda to achieve good health.
Physical disable children need special care and attention. Many disabled children may possess
imperceptible deformities that might be associated with severe or long cases like arthritis. Thus
when it comes to under HSC department, first need to evaluate what type of need is required
to the patients. Such children may need help in daily routine activities like bathing, eating food,
natures call, walking and talking with others (Stokes, 2017). Thus it is important to take care
with specific needs so that they could recover well from their previous condition.

Numerous facilities have been provided by the Respite Nursing Home for the patient like Mrs
Kamanda. Additionally, there are various public and private bodies that are running in the UK
for providing care and support for the people to maintain a healthy lifestyle. As in the case of
Mrs Kamanda, a psychological boosting can also be tried as she has been suffering from
challenging behaviour (Alderman, 2017). An individual with special needs are generally
deprived of the services and common facilities and hence some arrangement should be made
to provide care and support for the people.

Guidance and advice
The proper guidance and advice should be provided for the people with the special need
regarding the physical and mental health of the individual. The advice is provided for higher age
or adult people. The guidance is necessary for children and teenagers (Alderman, 2017).
Counselling
Counselling is an essential phase in HSC. The individual with special need provides counselling
for motivating them towards good health and build up confidence. In a contemporary world,
people may feel stress and may suffer from mental disorder, however, the counselling is very
important for this type of patients in the health and social care services.
Development program
The social care services are providing the individual with specific need with new facilities and
equipment to improve the health and maintain good life to adjust in a community in a
convenient way (Findlater et al., 2019). In addition, personal growth program may also assess
for improving the people life and betterment in the society.

In the UK there are so many social care centre are running for the individual from a different
kind of disorder. These may be working in both rural and urban sector with the main aim of
providing the services for the individual with the special need and to achieve betterment in the
society. National health services are one of the main settings that have been running in the UK
(Findlater et al., 2019) under the government to provides support and care of people and
provide facilities related to healthcare which is at very low cost and sometimes free of cost for
those who cannot afford it. In the case of Mrs Kamanda who is suffering from a funding
problem, the NHS helps is providing the facilities and special care.
In the UK there are so many daycare centres are available that are helping in the normal living
of the people who are suffering from mental distress so that they could achieve a good and
healthy life. Moreover, the NHS trust also help for whose individual who might have suffered
from mobility or loss of body part like those of soldier who was in the war and lost some part of
the body, these organization help them to provide a wheelchair or other equipment so that
they could make their live normal and comparatively easy. NHS is arranging some services with
the help of local authorities and government physical disable person can be attending in a well
manner (Young et al., 2016).
There are some positive point and some negative point of any organization. And for this, the
day care centre may have some negative consequence like lack of ignorance of services, not
supervise properly, quality of service, weird nature of service seeker that are having difficulty in
handling them, etc. on the other hand, the NHS may have various positive aspect like helping in
finance, provide quality services, reduce price of facilities, etc.
The HSC sector should be having a deal with the bigger medical organisations so that in the
emergency the patient could be immediately shifted to a bigger organization to provide care
and treatment in the right time (Young et al., 2016). The HSC organization should have their
own ambulance or transport facilities for efficient work. The organization should provide good,
nutritious and healthy food and within the hygiene level. Manipulation of food can be done

base on the requirement of the service seekers. Thus it is very important and safe for Mrs
Kamanda to move in health and social care unit for betterment.

3.1
There are so many approaches and intervention has been made to take care of people with
special need. As in the case of Mrs Kamanda who is suffering from a dual disorder that is deaf
and blind, and thus she required need with special attention (Prasad and Mishra, 2017).
Strategies have been varying from mild to moderate as it depends on the condition of the
people. Mrs Kamanda is suffering from challenging behaviour other than her vision and hearing
problems. The HSC should have proper attention for challenging behaviour of her as she
continuously facing it. So it is necessary to keep her calm down and grow her self-confidence
before incorporating and strategy on her. Thus the HSC has focused on her challenging
behaviour and by using different approaches to cure and control the vision and hearing
problem (Prasad and Mishra, 2017).
Some of the interventions available for people with special needs are
Alternative and augmentative communication
Alternative and augmentative therapies are useful for the people for those who are unable to
use or understand the standard form of message like speech (Bernal et al., 2017).
Behaviour and developmental strategy
In this strategy large and diverse range of program, educational and technique are using. This
may include coaching and teaching.
Biomedical strategy
In a biomedical intervention, a group of strategies has been designed to reduce or stop the
biomedical effect such as immune dysfunction, gastrointestinal problem, detoxification, and
nutritional deficiencies (Bernal et al., 2017).
Health and service-based strategy

A standard care service has been adopted to maintain the wellbeing and health of people with
mental disorder or autism. This may include various ranges of therapies and treatment which
are generally adopted by the healthcare professional (Geulayov et al., 2016). This intervention
may include giving care and treatment to autism people in employment, education and health
care sectors.
