The time is changing so are the perception of workers working in the sector of health and social
care. There was an era where patients and their need were not given any importance and social
service provider were careless regarding the records of the patients. The same can be found in
case of Tom. He was a 43 year old man with a brain injury from car crash that has eventually
made him insomniac and chronic pain making him prone habitual intoxication.
Tom was need of different care like proper medication, clean environment, drugs and alcohol

to chronic pain and insomnia he was found disturbed mentally
Government of different countries are working hard to support mentally unstable people.
Together with that strict regulations are effectively complied for non- discrimination. There are

There are various centres for health and social care which are working to serve the people of UK

privately to serve the people living in the society that are with special needs. NHS or National
Health Service one of the famous organizations in the public sector of UK operates under
government to offer support of different healthcare facilities at a very low costs which can be
afforded by all (Manners, 2017). NHS is effective in offering different day care centres to
support and take care of people with mental illness with a motive to uplift their living standard.
NHS also has some service that is related to mobility service for people living in local
communities and government.
The main negative points related to the day care centre is mainly related to lack of supervision

3.1 Explain the approaches and interventions available to support individuals with specific needs
The approach and intervention is very important with respect to people with specific needs due
to disability, ill behavior and ill health condition. For health care professionals and service
provider understanding professional attributes and competencies is essential for treating the
patient well. In case of supporting a person with severe physical damage, the health care
professionals must identify, create implementation effective plans for effectively supporting and
taking care of the patient as per their needs and requirement (Mackelprang, and Salsgiver, 2016).
Moreover, for a person with ill health, necessary rises for identifying and assess particular health
issues and treatment must be offered accordingly considering various medical interventions.
For a patient with mentally illness, the services and care will be quite different. The service
provider is expected to understand patient’s perception and need for offering him or her most
suitable, friendly, pleasant and safe environment. Through these the morale of the patient will be
encouraged and more satisfactory support and care will be offered (Giger, 2016).The service
providers must also concentrate on developing effective communication with the patient.
Communication skills will be effective in identifying and understanding specific need of the
patients. Communication helps I developing the trust factor, which will help the patient to open
up regarding their concerns and issues to health care professionals.
Different legislative agencies and government agencies are offering and developing framework
along with guidelines for the services providers. This framework must be flexible for benefiting
the people with disabilities. The government has appointed various psychotherapists and helpline
number to support patients. Guardian ship is one of the important factors that are to be
considered for while forming advocacy. These interventions are effective in offering legal
support to patients by offering authorities advice and consultancies to enhance moral and
medical support
