INTRODUCTION
Health and social care management is a degree which consist of knowledge and skills
development that enables the individual to develop relationship with the employees that are
indulged in services of health and social care. The objective is to develop sound understanding of
the policies, concepts and theories related to health and social care. The focus is to improve the
quality of health and social care services (Briggs and et. al., 2017.). The individual is able to
develop leadership and management skills and promoting collaborative working structures.
National Health Service is a government funded medical and health care service in which
the resident of UK can take the services without paying for it. It was founded by Aneurin Bevan
and their main aim behind establishing this organization was to provide service which would be
comprehensive, service which is free of cost and universal. It was established for the people who
do not have an ability to pay.
In the further report influence on policy development and application within a health and
social care will be evaluated and examination of the roles and responsibilities, accountability and
duties in a health and social care setting will be done. Lastly the impact of health and social care
on inter professional and cross agency will be determined.
MAIN BODY
TASK 2
The policies and procedures can be developed in accordance with national and policy
requirements of UK. The following are national and policy requirement in UK:
The first matter is policies related to Data protection and information security. When developing
the policies for NHS, The Data Protection act,2018 of UK must be followed. The data protection
act includes protection and control of use of personal data of the organization and the rights of
the organization.
When using the personal data of NHS the organization must make sure that the information used
is fair, lawful and transparent. It is accurate and are kept up to date. Thus, NHS needs to include
these points when developing their policies (Jaspers and Steen, 2019).

Another matter that influence the development of policies in NHS is The Health and Safety at
work act,1974 of UK. The health and safety act of UK defines certain duties in regard to staff
and management and other people of NHS. The employers must ensure safe working
environment for the staff. Proper maintenance of the machines and equipments also covered
under health and safety acts. Keeping the dangerous and high doses at safe places and far from
common staff. When developing the policies regarding health and social care the following
aspects influence its development like, knowledge, innovation, economic condition, political
activity etc.
Health and social care is important for everyone. NHS focuses on improving the health
conditions of the people and take many initiatives as well. In today's scenario everyone takes
care of their health. If people will remain healthy then only they can work properly. The main
objective of health and social care is to help people in living happy life. In last few years, there
has been many changes in the policies of health and social care. In NHS improvements has been
made in provisions of health and social care. NHS is taking initiative to make improvements in
the provisions and policies of health and social care (Nyashanu, Pfende and Ekpenyong, 2020. ).
The focus of NHS is to provide better health services with minimum wastage of resources. As
there is scarcity of resources, so proper utilization of resources should be done. The focus of
NHS is on improving the health of the people of UK. Health can be improved by eating healthy
food and doing exercise daily. NHS takes care of both physical and mental health of the people.
The objective of NHS is to focus on health of all the people, not only its staff but whole nation.
NHS is introducing new policies which focus on how to improve the health of the people. It also
focuses on how to provide healthy food. Recently, Hospital Food Standards are added to NHS.
This food standards describes that NHS should follow the strategy provided by Standards Report
(Sharp and et. al., 2018.). The food and drinks should be given according to the instructions
given by Hospital Food Standard Report. NHS also take initiative by reducing the use of sugar
because it is not good for health. The priority sectors for NHS are cancer, cardiovascular disease,
maternity, diabetes, mental heath etc. its focus is on the health of children and the young
generation people. NHS ensures that there should be proper utilization of resources. As resources
are less and some resources should be left for the future use.
NHS should make improvements in its policies and should more focus on taking care of the
people of the nation. It can make changes in methods and technology. NHS should also make

changes in the working style like they can recruit new staff and provide training to them. NHS
should give proper instructions to its existing staff that how to take care of patients.

proper knowledge. NHS should know how to manage resources and proper management of
money. NHS should purchase new technology but it should be helpful for NHS in improving its
quality. NHS should measure its performance after making improvements. If NHS is measuring

the present situation. To improve mental and physical health of people NHS can take some steps

environment so that patients will also feel good.
NHS is planning to purchase new technologies which will reduce the burden of the staff. The
staff has to perform various activities and also has to take care of patients. So, staff also gets
tired, and they do not focus on patients. If NHS purchase new technology then staff can pay
more attention towards patients. NHS is planning to provide therapy to improve mental
conditions by using smartphones. In this way their will be the best use of technology and
everyone can take this therapy from their homes. Providing therapy online helps people to
manage their time, and they can take therapy according to their time. In this way people can
improve their health condition, and they will enjoy this. NHS is also introducing its own app.
Through this app people can easily communicate to their doctors and can also get information
about various plans. All the information will be provided on this app and people can check with
the help of this app. People can take appointments through this app. NHS wants to use more
technology to improve its effectiveness. This will also be helpful for people as it is easy and
more convenient. After sometime everyone will have this facility to communicate with the
doctor through video call. This will help people as they can share their problem with doctor. This
online mode will help to reduce cost and increase convenience.
NHS should also take necessary steps to face the obstacles that will come in the way. NHS need
to change its policies as the demand of the people is increasing. NHS should try to move with the
demands and make necessary changes. NHS must make changes if it wants to survive in the
market. It should do some innovation which will attract customers.

NHS follows equality and diversity policy. In this all the patients are treated equally. Staff take
care of all the patients equally. Facilities provided by NHS are good and environment is also
good. NHS follows complaints and customer service policies. This policy defines that how NHS
is responding to the complaints made by the patients and what NHS learns from the complaints.
It also describes the way in which NHS solves the problem and the reaction of NHS toward the
complain. The complain should not be repeated. NHS should take the complaints in positive way
and solve the problem in efficient way. NHS also follows social media and comment moderation
policy. This policy helps patients to share their views. NHS is following patient and public
participation policy. In this policy NHS shares its documents regarding how they are working
with patients and public may know about it. The government will support NHS in providing the
best quality and try to provide all the necessary things. NHS should try to achieve objectives that
are set by the government.
Health care professionals helps in development of equality and diversity policy at NHS. They
help in maintaining equality, all the patients are treated equally and there is no discrimination. It
is the role of health care professional to maintain equality. If there is equality at the workplace, it
will help in creating positive relationships (Maguire and et. al., 2018). All will work together and
there will be no discrimination. Equality will help team in achieving their target. It will help in
increasing performance of the staff of NHS. If policy of equality is followed in NHS, it will help
in attracting more customers as all are treated equally. Healthcare professional take care that
equality and diversity policy should be followed, it will help in building good reputation in the
market. Health care professionals play an important role in maintaining equality and diversity
environment in NHS. Healthcare professionals provides necessary services that help in
promotion of health, prevent diseases, provides health services to the patients and their families
(Valaitis and et. al., 2017). The main role of health care professional is to take care that everyone
is treated with respect. Healthcare professional helps in implementing equality and diversity
policy at NHS. Health care policy firstly, assembles a team and build consensus. In the team
health care professionals, nurses, staff and carers. All team members of NHS are given different
roles and responsibilities. Healthcare professional performs the duty of doing inspection and
distributes work among team members (Exworthy, Powell and Glasby, 2017.). Nurses of NHS
take care of the patients and check whether all the patients are being treated equally or not. Staff
and carers tell the patients about their medicines and what precautions they have to take. After

check whether all the patients are being treated equally or not. These surveys are done with the

The changes which are made should be communicated through mail to everyone and all team

implemented at NHS and check whether policy is smoothly working or not. It is the
responsibility of all the team members to check whether all the patients are happy or not, all the
patients are treated with respect or not. Health care professional will lead the team. Daily it is the
responsibility of health care professional to take reviews from patients. Also, check the
behaviour of patients with each other. If any improvement or change is required then it is the
duty of health care professional to make changes.

Roles, responsibilities, accountabilities and duties in health and social care setting
Roles in health and social care setting of NHS is -
Registered Nurses — Registered nurses form a vital component of healthcare industry
by making sure that gears keep turning (National Academies of Sciences, Engineering,
and Medicine, 2019). NHS constitute registered nurses which provide patient care,
educates public about various health conditions with providing advice and emotional
support to patients and their family.
Care Workers — Care Workers help people live more independently. NHS care workers
help patients with social and physical activities, booking appointments. NHS care
workers are good at working on their own and acquire brilliant listening skills.
Healthcare Professionals — Healthcare professional is anyone suited by training,
education and necessary licensing to perform a medical service (Pitchforth, Nolte,
Corbett and et.al., 2017). Healthcare professionals in NHS organization ensures
functioning to run according to rules and regulations.
