Health and social care is the profession that demands the professionals associated with it
to provide a holistic care to their clients with professional responsibility and emotional support.
This helps to the health and social care professionals to provide the clients with their unmet
needs (Schön 2017). While working as a health and social care practitioner, my personal strength
weaknesses, my knowledge, and skills promoted and sometimes affected my care giving process.
The following section will contain a SWOT analysis as the self assessment of my personal
abilities.

can be achieved. However, it is important to prioritize goals so that it becomes easier to achieve
them. The aspects which will be used to prioritize these goals are the degree of the weak aspects
of my personality which can harm my profession, my knowledge gap and flexibility so that
achieving goals becomes comfortable to achieve.

The first short term goal will be
observing each of my activities so that I
can identify my mistakes on my own and
take action against it.

improvement as in discussion with seniors and peers, the chances of gaining knowledge and
overcoming prior weakness is higher as per Arnold and Boggs (2015). Further, it will help me as
a healthcare professional to face my burnouts and understand the complete process so that I can
utilize my opportunities and use my passion, courage and ability to positively evolve my career.
Further, there were several skills which I acquired while going through the self assessment and

self refection and these skills were ability to work in a diverse team, ability to work in difficult
condition and understand the importance of culturally competent care in healthcare and social
care settings (Skovholt and Trotter-Mathison 2014). This helped me to develop my ability to face
new challenges and overcome them with proper knowledge and skills. However, while this self
improvement process, sometimes I was not been able to utilize my skills and hence, I understood
the importance of patience while working in health and social care profession. Hence, after
overcoming these aspects of my career, I would keep myself updated with modern healthcare
and social care professional skills so that I can provide my clients with holistic approach of care
(Connolly 2012).
