INTRODUCTION
Professional practices in health and social care organization play a major role to support the
patients and members who are suffering from any disability. This report will discuss the
importance of principles of practices which will help the professionals to improve their user
services in Fleetwood Hall Home organization. Fleetwood Hall Home is the organization which
provides the care and support services to their patients or residents who are living with them to
improve their critical situations. This report will discuss the various policies, code of practices
and regulations which will be adopted by Fleetwood Hall Home organization to support their

people in its various units including mental health, nursing unit as well as dementia unit (Coyte
and McKeever, 2016). In this task various principles of support related to social care and health
are explained as follows:
 Healthy relationship: Fleetwood Hall Home focuses on maintaining the healthy
relationship between individuals and professionals taking care of the health of those
individuals. Management of Fleetwood encourages their professionals to take various
measures that help in managing the health of individuals in an effective way.
 Increased affection: The people in the home care suffer from various types of diseases
and disorders and most of them can be treated with great love, affection and care
provided by the professionals as well as management of the Fleetwood.
 Concerns related to health: The most important objective of care home is to take care
of health related issues. Health care supporters must take initiatives for promoting the
health of the residents (Rodrigues and Glendinning, 2015).
 Respect of residents: Health care management must take care of the dignity as well as
respect of residents along with the health. They must be treated as the most respectful
member of the home care and the security as well as privacy is the main motto of an
organization. They must not be humiliated for their day to day dependency on the staff.
 Supporting their independency: The old age as well as other residents having health
issues must be given their own space to perform various day to day activities. They must
be free to choose on how the work should be done and when and where it should be done.
They must utilize their free time by doing activities of their own choice.
 Procedures for health improvement: Care taker must analyze and check the complete
details of the patient before starting the treatment. Various factors must be considered

It is the core responsibility of care taker and management of Fleetwood Hall Home to protect its
patients, clients as well as colleagues from any harm related to health and safety. They must
adopt specific measures and procedures to prevent the residents from various situations that are
undesirable. These measures are explained as follows:

preferences and requirements of the clients in the most effective manner. There are various
advantages of this type of approach related to health and social care services which is explained
as:
 The person centred approach basically focuses on personal needs of residents in
Fleetwood. The care takers take decisions to fulfil their requirement in the best possible
way.
 This approach helps the management of care home to take care of financial as well as
political factors along with the planning for health and care issues.
 Person-Centred Approach helps in increasing the customers’ satisfaction and trust related

Healthcare and social care service providers have to face various conflicts as well as dilemmas

main objective of health care takers as well as professionals is to take care of patients at
biological level but sometimes it becomes necessary to take care of ethical issues.
This can be explained by taking an example of a person say Mrs Y of 70 years old and is
suffering from Alzheimer. She faces difficulty in walking and is supported by care worker at her
home. Wheelchair is used for moving her from bed to chair and is assisted by transit straps to
stop from falling. But in this case, Mrs Y is not in a favour to use transit strips as she doesn’t like
them.
In this case, care worker is in ethical dilemma and is in biased condition that whether to focus on
the health of Mrs Y or to take care of her needs and wishes. It is her responsibility to take care of
the patient in best possible manner by utilising transit strips which helps to stop her from falling
but on the other hand it is important to take care of the ethical wants of the patient.
In the situations of ethical dilemmas, care takers are unable to follow the rules and policies of an
organization for the well being of their patients (Pollock, 2014). There arise various conflicts and
misunderstanding between the residents and service providers. Quality of services is affected
because of these ethical dilemmas.

For explaining the policies, legislations as well as codes and regulations relevant to the health
and social care services, an example of Mrs Y is considered who have mild learning disability.
She is involved in starting fires which causes high risk for her family members. For reducing this
risk, she is entirely checked by care workers every time. Mrs Y is not in favour of this personal
checking and therefore various codes of practices and legislations are explained in this context
(Gibson et.al.2015).
 Power of Attorney: Power of attorney plays an important role for the people who are
unable to perform financial transaction of their own (Hack et.al.2016). In this the person
assigns the authority to some other trustworthy to take care of the finances.
 Laws related to security and safety: Mrs Y is checked every time to ensure the safety
of other members at home. There are certain rules and regulations related to safety of the
premises of care home. Accidents or mishaps may disturb the regular schedules of
residents.
 Appointing a Nominee: The resident appoints nominees who are responsible to pay fees
or any other payment related to the services of the care homes. These nominees or agents
could be the friends as well as relatives of a resident. The social service providers are
responsible for appointing a nominee in case if there is no friend or relative. In the above
context, family members ensure the safety of Mrs Y and therefore appointing a nominee
is important.
 Control of Hazardous Substance: In the above context, Mrs Y is checked to avoid the
usage of fire in the premises. It is important for the safety of other members at care home.
