INTRODUCTION
Principles in health and social care are playing important role for managing different
operations and health care practices within health and social care organization. It assists in
determination of role and responsibilities of doctors, nurses and other medical staff so as they are
able to deliver high quality services to the patients as per the their distinct needs. As per the health
and social care principles, every possible action is taken by health care practitioners for ensuring the
safeguard of the interest of patients that have significant impact on quality of health care services
(Duffy, 2004). Apart from this, it is addressed that assessment of health issues and requirement of
patents is being considered as a first and foremost duty of employees so as they can manage distinct
services with an most effective manner. In the context, public authorities have formulated various
acts through which regulatory authorities are able ensure patients are assessing appropriate services.
The present study is going to discuss different principles in health and social care with reference to
different scenarios which have been provided.
TASK 1: UNDERSTADING THE WAY IN WHICH PRINCIPLES OF
SUPPORT ARE IMPLEMENTED IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE
PRACTICE
1.1 Way in which principles of support are applied to guarantee
As per the present case, it is evaluated that Ahmed and Sylvia who are 70 years old are
suffering from different diseases which Ahmed is suffering from Alzheimer which is a form of
dementia and Sylvia is facing health issues related to hearing impairment so as she can only
communicate through sign language. In addition to that, Ahmed has lost the ability to differentiate
between night and day (Haworth and et.al., 2002). Therefore, mostly Ahmed spends the night
awake as well as walking around the house. In this regard, Angela who is addressed as care worker
has addressed that the caring for Ahmed is increasingly tiring for Sylvia who is considered as
Ahmed's informal carer.
By focusing the present scenario, principles of support are playing important role in
healthcare such as dignity. The concept dignity is essential for healthcare practitioners so as services
provide can treat each and every patient with respect and can manage different services as per the
distinct needs of services user (Rigby, Hill and Keeling, 2011). Further, patients must be provided
with choice at the time of delivering service that assists patients in selection of best services for
different health issues. In addition to that privacy is determined an another key principle that
influences healthcare practitioners that they do not have any authority to share private information

of patients with others and privacy must be maintained that leads positive impact on employee
satisfaction level. All these principles are applied in case of Ahmed and Sylvia in which health care
workers has to manage dignity along with privacy.
1.2 Procedures for protecting the clients from harm
Different effective ways are present for ensuring safety of patients within health and social
care settings. As per the given case, Ahmed is facing health issues from Alzheimer disease and
Sylvia is having problems related to hearing impairment. Therefore, in order to protect them,
confidentiality is considered as most important element that provides significant benefits to patients.
Therefore, it is considered as primary responsibilities of healthcare worker (Theisen, 2013).
Therefore Angela has to ensure that information associated with the patients is not shared with other
individual. By complying different policies related to sharing of information, health and social care
workers are able to enhance their respond towards services users and their needs in the most
effective manner. In addition to that understanding their actual needs and health issues is also
considered as most effective strategy through which Ahmed and Sylvia can be provided significant
support (Devitt and Smith, 2007). This is because Slyvia is not satisfied with the decision
associated with the shifting of Ahmed to a care home so as it is essential to consider the views of
patients so that situation such as loss of trust from Angela may not arise. By taking feedback from
service users, management of health care organization are able to provide best services to different
services users.
1.3 Analysing the advantages of person centred approach
Person centred approach in health and social care is mainly associated with delivering
services to users as per their actual need. In addition to that, this approach provides significant
assistance to healthcare practitioners for rendering proper treatment by giving best efforts. This
approach provides significant beneficial for patients in each aspect. By applying the person centred
approach, health care staff are able to deliver best services as per the distinct needs that enhances
their satisfaction level as well (Healy, 2005). Furthermore, patients are influenced for taking
appropriate decisions by strictly maintaining dignity along with the privacy. In health and social
care, it plays important role to satisfy distinct needs of patients. Further, Ahmed and Sylvia are
need appropriate support from care workers while delivering different care services.
The approach assists health care workers while performing various duties at workplace with
an appropriate manner by considering current position of workers along with the care requirements.
In this process, proper communication between care worker and patient increases the effectiveness
of treatment and care procedures. In this regard, it is essential to support the preferences and needs
of service users like Ahmed and Sylvia who are suffering from different diseases so as Angela can

provide better support to service user with the help of person centred approach (Kelly and Jones,
2013). Further, decision related to shifting of Ahmed without considering Sylvia is not appropriate
and it is creating negative image Angela. This is because Sylvia is having right to maange each
decision related to Ahmed.
1.4 Ethical dilemmas and conflicts involved in the case scenario
While managing health care practices, it is possible that care workers could face wide range
of unfavourable situations that lead negative impact on treatment procedure. In this regard, several
ethical dilemmas may be raised due conflicts of belief, culture, opinion, etc (Selvarajah, 2006).
With reference to present scenario, views of Sylvia was not evaluated while shifting of Ahmed to
care home. So, this can directly lead to conflict at the workplace and Sylvia will not to able to trust
on different services provided by Angela.
As per the case, the major conflict is taking place between Sylvia and Angela that would
hamper the quality of services which are delivered to users. Therefore, it is necessary to consider
the ethical dilemma. In this regard, it is examined that each health care worker uses different styles
while delivering different that would increase the chances of conflicts among care workers (Tura,
2011). Apart from this, it is essential to deal with this such as ethical dilemma that may prevent care
worker from delivering best services as per the distinct needs of patients.
TASK 2 UNDERSTADING IMPACT OF POLICY, REGULATION AND
STANDARDS ON ORGANIZATIONAL POLICY
2.1 Implementation of policies that are relevant to Rachel
As per the present scenario Rachel is searching for suitable care home for his mother so as
evaluation of below mentioned is essential: Rules of care quality commission: Care quality commission is a non departmental public
body which makes efforts for ensuring that care home, hospitals and other health care
service providers are providing appropriate services to care users with safe and high quality
environment. As per the case of Rachel, individual has to ensure that care home has
managed all service related practices as per the requirement of CQC (Lovell, Lee and
Brotheridge, 2012). For instance as a care worker I ensure that proper treatment
environment is facilitated to service users as per the their distinct needs.
Care act 2014: This act plays important role for promotion of individual well being and
also providing information about how an individual can prevent needs for care with the help
different techniques (Cheminais,2009). Therefore, it is necessary for Rachel to identify an
appropriate care home which is complying with different norms of this act. In this regard,

while delivering proper service to patients I ensure that all the activities associated with
treatement procedures followed by me are as per care act.
2.2 How local policies and procedures can be developed
Development of appropriate policies as well as procedures must be carried out as per
national policy requirement. All policies can be reinforced with reference to needs of service users
and it must be ensured that appropriate procedures are being developed which are capable for
safeguarding interest of service users. Moreover, each and every policy has to developed with
reference to guidelines introduced such as care act 2014, care quality commission etc (Farnsworth,
2012). This approach leads significant role for facilitation of directly assistance to patients. In
addition to that, it is essential to ensure that policies designed must be simple and easy to implement
within health care settings. At present I am working as care worker in small care home in UK where
each policy has been developed associated with workplace by considering the present and future
requirement of services users (Kereiakes and Willerson, 2004). Moreover, it is ensured that new
approach will not create any kind of misunderstanding. In addition to that different health care
policies must modified for increasing the effectiveness of service delivery process that would
improve service quality.
2.3 Evaluate the impact of policy, legislation and practice on organisational policy
In health and social care policies, different legislations determined by public authority have
direct impact on organisational policies and practices. Therefore, health care organization has to
manage different operations as per the these legislation. In this regard, health and social care
enterprise has implemented care act 2014 within the workplace through which quality services are
delivered to services user by focusing their actual requirements (Wild and et al., 2012). Moreover,
the legislation passed by care quality commission is also influenced health care practices within
business entity. Considering the present scenario Rachel can select suitable care home for his
mother which has implemented health care policies along with legislations within the workplace.
On the other hand, there has been significant changes occurred in healthcare laws so as health care
unit has to consider these elements as per new rules for ensuring safety of healthcare workers.
TASK 3 UNDERSTADING THE THEORIES THAT UNDERPIN HEALTH
AND SOCIAL CARE PRACTICE
3.1 Theories on human growth and development
Theories based on human growth and development provide significant assistance in health
and social care services. As per the theory of Freud, health care workers are able to examine
different psychological stages of development which is started from childhood. First stage is oral in

which mouth is the pleasure centre for development in which birth of infant takes place. If the needs
infant are not satisfied properly then it may lead negative impact on his physical and mental
development (Solace, 2013). In the second stage, it is an individual of 1 to 3 years and considered
as preschool aged. In this, children begin to experiment. Third stage is Phallic in which a child
between 3 to 6 years of age is considered and starts to struggle with sexual desires towards the
opposite sex.
Next stage is latency in which an individual began to built superego and start to behave in
acceptable way and considers importance of their parents. The Last stage is termed as genital in
which people who are having age above 12 are consisted and in this stage sexual impulses reemerge
(Bonfiglio, 2005). So, these are some of the key stages in human growth and development. For
instance in care home where I am managing different health care services associated with different
stages such as Anal, genital etc.
3.2 Impact of social processes in health and social care
In this regard, there are different social processes are associated with growth and overall
changes which have taken place in the society over a period of time. It includes poverty,
unemployment, social exclusion, discrimination etc. that have significant impact on quality of
services during healthcare practices. Due to presence of unfavourable condition for example
unemployment individual there an individual is not able to purchase healthcare service with an
appropriate manner (Duffy, 2004). Further, it is regarded to be worst condition for particular
individual. Moreover, it is not possible for healthcare practitioners as per needs of services user.
Therefore, it can be stated that condition of poverty prevents service users from acquisition of high
end healthcare services. Therefore, some care homes are offering health care services without any
fee.
3.3 Evaluate effectiveness of interpersonal working
It has been examined that individuals associated with different background and field are
working together in healthcare care practices. Therefore, interpersonal working is taken place when
one healthcare provider establish cooperation with others associated with other for managing the
quality of health care services (Haworth and et.al., 2002). Therefore, this approach has found very
effective for healthcare organization and for experts and professional so as people belong different
background are able applies knowledge along with skills in delivering best quality service to the
patients. By working in care home for 2 years I have acquired significant experience and I have
addressed that inter personal working is essential for healthcare organization through which
different professionals are able to meet distinct needs of patients (Rigby, Hill and Keeling, 2011).
According to my experience I came to know that lack of knowledge in healthcare procedures leads

4.1 Role, responsibilities and accountabilities in the context of working with those within and
outside health and social care workplace
Good and healthy environment is played most important role for providing better health care
services as per the distinct needs of individuals. A better environment increases the effectiveness of
treatment procedures. By following policies and regulations determined by different authorities, it
would be beneficial for health and social care organization for facilitation of best services. By
conducting training sessions health care organization is able to disclose different roles and
responsibilities of healthcare workers that increase their confidence level so they can better deal
with patient and understand their needs in a proficient manner (Devitt and Smith, 2007). By using
the people centric approach, I can easily assess specific needs and requirement of the patients in
order to resolve different issues with an appropriate manner so as I can easily manage different job
roles and responsibilities within organization. On the other hand, I also develop good relationship
with the inter-personal professional group. In this process, I am focusing on increasing the
communication and coordination among different working group that would improve service
quality.
4.2 Contribution to the development and implementation of health and social care organizational
policy
I always try that development of health and social care organizational policies are carried out
as per the norms of public authority and these policies are executed in the care home where I am
working in a planned manner. In this context, I need to consider different approaches such as
regular communication with staff, health agencies and taking proper feedbacks and advice from
patients. In addition to that I am also taking proper suggestion from outside consultants to increase
the effectiveness of the policy (Kelly and Jones, 2013). Furthermore, I will regularly change my
patient handling strategies which suit different types of patients so as I can provide best service. I
will also pay extra attenttion on alternate methods to enhance effectiveness of health care practices
as per the changes occurred in government policies and technologies.
4.3 Make recommendations to develop own contributions to meeting good practice requirements
For facilitation of best health care practices, every health care organization should
implement different policies and regulations developed by different agencies with an appropriate
manner. To meet good practice requirements, I need to manage different health care operation by

concentrating on inter-professional working groups that play important role to improve the services
quality in my organization. With the help approach, better services will be offered to patient so as
people could get appropriate treatment for different health issues (Selvarajah, 2006). In addition to
that I will do proper arrangement of training that would lead significant change in behavior and
attitude of staff towards the patient. Along with it, I should have to consider various tactics such as
peer support, listening and acting upon feedback, sharing of good practices etc. that would play
important role to enhance satisfaction of services users.
CONCLUSION
As per the above assessment it has been found that principles in health and social care are
playing most crucial for handing different health care operations. In addition this report has found
that implementation of proper laws and regulations assists health care service providers for
delivering best quality services to the users and their actual requirement can be met easily. This
report has found that different procedures are followed by health-care practitioner through which
service users can be protected that involves confidentiality, complying with policies associated with
sharing of information etc.
