INTRODUCTION
Sector of Health and Social Care (HSC) is one of the areas which are growing on a fast
speed. Various changes have taken place in this industry which supports HSC homes to provide
better services to patients (Weisfeld, 2011). For satisfying the needs of individuals, it is very
important for HSC homes to collect information about the specific requirements of people. It is
very important that there should be positive environment at workplace as this helps in keeping all
the patients happy which contribute in their healthy living. Person centred approach with its
benefits is all given in this report. Further, various theories of HSC and effectiveness of inter
professional working is all mentioned in this.
TASK 1
1.3 Benefit of following a person centred approach
Carl Rogers had given the approach called person centred. One of the main focus of this
approach is to take all actions and decisions in HSC in a way that it helps in fulfilling all
requirements of service users. Further, this approach defines the basic and personal rights of an
individual. Adoption of this approach encourages care homes to offer better services to all
patients and increase the effectiveness of all activities which are carry out by care homes (Van
and et.al., 2013). One of the main benefits of this approach is that it allows health care homes to
put the needs, preferences and requirements of all patients at top. Further, this supports social
care homes to treat every individual with respect and dignity. All this helps care homes to
contribute more in healthy living of people. Further, a person centred approach provides so many
benefits to HSC homes as detailed in following points:
One of the main benefit of person centred approach is that it supports in keeping all the
patients self-motivated and happy.
Person centred approach supports patients in changing their life and provides them a
positive direction.
Person centred approach contributes in creating and maintaining a positive environment
at workplace. All this supports in treatment of patients especially of old age. Altogether,
it provides control to management over various business activities.
This supports service providers to create and maintain good relations with customers
through which they feel a sense of association.

1.4 Ethical dilemmas conflict that may arise when providing support and care to service users
An ethical dilemma is known as a situation in which an individual has to make a choice
between two available options. Services providers in HSC are the one who face various ethical
dilemmas while serving the patients (Mechanic, 2012). Main focus of individuals, working in
care homes remain to offer better services to patients and boost up their healthy living. During all
these services, professionals face various ethical issues. For example, sometimes in case of
emergency patients refuses to take treatment due to various issues and personal reasons. In that
situation, all challenging for care homes because take care of all requirements of patients and
treat individual in best possible manner is one of the main principle of HSC. At the same time,
maintaining the dignity and respect of patients is second principle of care homes. In that kind of
situation, it becomes difficult for care homes to choose what should be done by them.
In such kind of situation, it is recommended to HSC homes to follow the process and
guidelines given by NHS. These support and guide HSC homes that what should be done by
them to contribute more in health of patient and at the same time, maintain their dignity.
TASK 2
2.1 Implementation of legislation, policies and regulation relevant to health and social care
National Health Service is a regulatory body which not only develops but also issues
different policies, legislation and code of practice that are required to be followed by all HSC
homes. Analysis of all policies is carried out by NHS on continuous basis to ensure that these are
effective and better in contributing healthy living of people at the same time are suitable as per
the changing business conditions (Poteat, German and Kerrigan, 2013). It is very essential that
policies should be suitable as per the background of individuals. One of the most popular acts in
health care industry is Health and Social Care Act 2012. Main attribute of this act is that it guide
and support managers working in HSC homes and help them in taking better decisions. Various
standards are involved in this act which ensures delivery of high quality services to all patients.
Further this defines basic rights of patents of HSC homes and this also motivates health care
professionals to adopt person centred approach. All these policies and regulations play an
effective role in health care industry and provide opportunity to health care homes to provide
better service and care to service users. Further, other significant policies related with health care

3.1 Theories underpin health and social care
Different number of theories are there that underpin in working in health and social.
Various theories can be understood by following points: Theory of human development and growth: This is one of the most important and
effective theory which is apply in HSC homes. As per this only that services should be
offered to individuals that contribute in their health. Theory of managing behaviour and stress: Numbers of situations arise in which it
becomes difficult for professionals to decide what to do and all this increases their stress
level. Social learning: Social care homes are the places in which individuals especially old age
people spend their time and interact with other people. All this enhances their learning. Discriminatory approach: When management give direct orders to service providers,
then they become bias towards service users. All this hampers the positive working
environment.
Value and ethics: This factor indicates the conflicts that an individual face when his/her
value gets affected by some specific situation which arises in social care homes.
3.3 Effectiveness of inter personal working
Inter personal working refers to the working in which group of individual belongs to
different skills, knowledge, abilities and discipline work in same working conditions. Under this
type of working every individual interact with other person, share their skills and knowledge
(Weisfeld, 2011). This strategy is known as one of the effective strategy in health and social care
industry one of the main advantage of this is that it help care homes in achieve better outcomes.
In health and social care homes large number of people belong from different culture work.
Implementation of inter personal working in health and social care homes provide an opportunity
to better satisfy the needs of its customers (Smith, 2015). All this support in achieve their
satisfaction and this help in create and maintain a positive image of health care firm in market. In

patients as pre their specific requirements. Further this discussion help in define the roles and
responsibilities of staff members, nurses, midwife and various other supporters. All this ensure

support implementation of organisational policies and increase effectiveness of health care
activities. All these are the main factors and by consider all these health and social care homes
can offer better services to all its patients.

4.1 Own roles, accountabilities and responsibilities in working in health and social care
Every health and social care home do various efforts to maintain its positive image in
market. For this they offer effective services to contribute in healthy living of people or to the
individuals who are suffering from different kind of diseases (Brach and et. al., 2012). Being a
manager of health and social care home it remain the responsibility of individual to examine
various factors that affect the functioning of business. Further, monitor the performance of
employees is very essential as this help manager in know about that they are performing their
roles in an effective manner or not. In addition to this, feedback from patients required to be
collect on continuous basis as this help manager in better understand about the situation exist at
workplace. A manger is the one who remain responsible to maintain equity in offer services to
patients (Singer and et. al., 2011). Examine that every individual in health care home is getting
proper medical treatment or not is also done by manager. Study that proper diet is given to all
patients, cleaning of rooms in time, hygiene and security of all patients is all come under the
manager's responsibility.
4.2 Own contribution in development and implementation of health care policy
Every individual working in health and social care play an effective role in
implementation of organisational policy. I am also working in health and social care home which
offer number of services to its clients for boost up their healthy living. As a manager I play an
influential role in development and implementation of policy. Being a manager I will be the
direct line of defence to assist individuals and I will be liable for effective implementation of
polity and to ensure safety of all individuals. Further, I will be accountable to collect the
resources required to ensure best and effective services. Number of policies are there that could

be implemented to make the system more effective. Abuse of old age is one of the major issue
that required to be address in health and social care homes. A social committee can be establish
to look out various issues in social care homes. A proper hierarchy system is needed to examine
the processes and policies implement in care homes.
4.3 Recommendation to develop contributions to meet requirements
Various recommendation can be develop to enhance own contribution in development
and implementation of organisational policies to make the services and facilities offered by care
homes more effective and better (Bradley and et. al., 2011). Following are the main
recommendations:
Monitor of all operations and function of health and social care homes is very essential
on continuous basis. This help in remove the chances of arise accident at workplace.
Various committees for analyse the functioning and activities of health care homes
require to be establish.
It is very essential to maintain hygiene and cleanliness at workplace and for this various
mechanism can be develop.
It is very essential to conduct training and development programmes for employees as
this help in enhance their knowledge and develop their skills to perform their roles in an
effective manner. This help them in offer better services to all patients.
Job rotation should take place at workplace on continuous level as this make the staff
members informs about the roles and responsibilities of others and at the same time help
them in perform various roles at workplace.
Various efforts should be done by management to create and maintain healthy
environment at workplace (Munn-Giddings and Winter, 2013). This add effectiveness in
business activities and contribute more in healthy living of individual.

From the given project report, it can be summarised that inter personal working in health
and social care industry help social care homes to fulfil the requirements of it patients in an
effective manner. Number of approach related with health and social care working are there and
choose the right approach is very essential for health care homes. There should be positive
environment at workplace as this help service professional in contribute more in healthy living of
