ABSTRACT
Teamwork is refers to working in team or group to achieve the targeted goal of the organisation
The purpose of the project is to assess the importance of teamwork in health and social care in
NHS. The teamwork in the organisation is important because without teamwork the firm is not
able to achieve the goals and improve the care services provided in the organisation which will
affect the health of the patients as the proper care and treatment will not be provided by the firm.
The healthcare professional in the health and social care by communicating with the team
members are able to provide them knowledge and understanding through which they can
improve their performance and provide better care to the patients. This theory is effective in
building team and coordinating the work in the team to achieve the certain goals and objective of
the health and social care.
Therefore, researcher will effectively and efficiently asses the importance of teamwork in
health and social care by applying inductive research approach. Researcher has used both
primary and secondary data to collected the information in which questionnaire has prepared for
survey. Researcher will effectively and efficiently asses the importance of teamwork in health
and social care by applying probabilistic simple random sampling. In this research, scholar has
applied quantitative data analysis in order to asses the importance of teamwork in health and
social care effectively and efficiently. Moreover, findings of the research stated that, As per there
views, there are nine roles in belbin which makes an effective team, as per the secondary analysis
the team roles consist of action-oriented roles which include the shaper, implemented and
completer finisher. It is important to work together in health and social care for motivating the
employees of the organisation and reduce the employees turnover.

Team working provide motivation to the members of the organisation and improve their
performance which is beneficial for the achievement of the targeted goals and objectives of the
firm. Teamwork lead to achievement of the goals and objective effectively and efficiently and
provide job satisfaction to the employees working in the organisation. On the contrary (Bookey‐
Bassett and et.al., 2017) stated that, teamworking in health and social care may leads to the
conflicts between the team members which may affect the performance of the team due to which
the operations of the organisation are not carried in the effective way. Moreover, if there is any
conflict between the team members they are not able to perform well and the environment of the
healthcare may be affected which will affect the organisation and the health and social care will
not be able to improve their care services and provide the patients with the better treatment and
facilities at the healthcare. The concept of teamworking is not good as it increases the time in
making decision which may affect the organisation inn making effective decision for providing
solution to the problems. It is related to working together to provide better care services in the
health and social care that will provide better treatment to the patient and the recovery rate of the
patient will be increased.
Theme 2 : Importance of teamwork in health and social care
In the views of (Noe and et.al., 2017), Team work is important in health and social care
because it assists in providing the best care services to the patients which enhance the
organization goodwill and provide better treatment to the patient which leads to the better health
of the patients. It increases the communication between the members of the organization which
assist in building relation with different people of health and social care. Moreover, Team work
in health and social care assist in improving the quality of the services which are being provided
by the care. The health and social care main purpose is to provide better care services to patient
in order to recover them from various health issues (Barr and Dowding, 2019). It is important to
provide motivation to the employees working in the organization which assist in improving their

them and provide health safety to them. The teamwork provides the employees to work in the
better work environment which provide them motivation and satisfaction working at that place.
On the critical note(Housley, 2017) stated that, Team working lead to conflicts in the
organization which may affect the organization operation and the services which will affect the
health and create a negative work environment which is not good for the organization as well as
patients. Working In team is affected because there are various factors in the organization which
may hampers in team working in the organization which are the difference in the opinions of the
people working, the cultural differences and the difference in the behavior. Also, the employees
in the organization may not be comfortable with the leaders which are providing direction them
to perform their operations due to which the team will not be able to achieve the certain goal and
objectives formed. The healthcare professional in the health and social care by communicating
with the team members are able to provide them knowledge and understanding through which
they can improve their performance and provide better care to the patients.
Theme 3: Theories and approaches of managing teamwork in health and social care
According to (Nester, 2016), There are various theories and approaches of Teamwork
which can help the organization in managing teamwork in health and social care. It is required
that developing teamwork in the organization will assist in providing better care services which
will provide better treatment to the patients and will help in fulfilling the demand of the patients
in the organization. The theories of teamwork include the Belbin team work theory which
include the different team roles that are being performed by the different team members of the
organization. The team roles consist of action oriented roles which include the shaper,
implemented and completer finisher. Which perform the roles of shaping the team in the most
effective way to develop the team ton achieve the certain objectives of the health and social care.
Another roles as per Belbin theory is people oriented roles which include resource investigator,
team workers and coordinator. The thought - oriented roles consist of plant, monitor evaluator
and specialist. This theory is effective in building team and coordinating the work in the team to
achieve the certain goals and objective of the health and social care. However on the other hand
(Körner and et.al., 2015) Stated that, there is another theory which can be undertaken for
teamworking that consist of Tuckmen teamwork theory. It includes the stages of forming,
storming, norming and performing that assist in development of the team in organization for
improving the health care services to provide better services to patients. Forming is the stage

CHAPTER 3: RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
3.0 Introduction
This chapter outlines the framework and process on which research must be followed and
considered. However, there have been use of quantitative research techniques on which there
have been consideration over national health care and social service sector. This chapter is
consisting of various information such as research methods, data collection and analysis
techniques as well as implication of various techniques to be considered in the research project.
3.1 Theoretical perspective
Once the research methods are selected, researcher have to look for the research approach
which is very important for scholar to reach the end conclusion. Research approach is a plan and
process that consist of the steps of broad assumptions in order to detailed methods in collection,
analysis and interpretation data. Inductive and Deductive approach that is mainly used in the
research study. However, the approach which is start with a hypothesis is called as deductive
approach whereas, inductive approach are those which is usually used research question to
narrow the scope of the study (Barr and Dowding, 2019). Scholar has applied deductive research
approach as it is best and most suitable approach when research is quantitative. Therefore,
researcher will effectively and efficiently asses the importance of teamwork in health and social
care by applying inductive research approach.
3.2 Design/ Methods
Research is the systematic and proper investigation into and study of material as well as
sources in order to establish facts and reach new conclusion. Qualitative and Quantitative are two
methods in which research study is based on (Ambrose-Miller and Ashcroft, 2016). The
methods in which it provided insight into the problem, or helps to develop there or hypothesis is
called as quantitative research. Whereas methods in which the data is collected through semi-
structures or unstructured techniques is called qualitative methods. However, In this present
research, research study is based on the quantitative methods.
3.3 Data Collection Method
After the selection of sampling technique, researcher start looking for data collection. It is
the systematic and proper technique to collect the data from various authentic sources. However,
there are two types of methods primary and secondary techniques. When the data is collected

efforts is called as primary data (Etikan, Musa and Alkassim, 2016). On the other hand, when
data is collected through books, journals, internet, articles, blogs and any other sources is called
as secondary data. However, researcher has used both primary and secondary data to collected
the information in which questionnaire has prepared for survey.
3.4 Sampling technique
This is very important part of the research study because of limited resources and money.
It is the small division of big population or group of people. With the sampling techniques,
scholar select the size and type of sample and conduct the further research study. There are
mainly two types of research study which are probabilistic and non-probabilistic. The type of
sampling in which representatives have equal chances of being selected in the sample is called as
probabilistic sampling. Whereas, when representatives do not have equal chances of being
selected in the sample is called as non-probabilistic sampling (Baïmey and et.al., 2017). Scholar
has selected 20 healthcare professionals of National Health and Services (NHS) by using
probabilistic sampling techniques. Therefore, researcher will effectively and efficiently asses the
importance of teamwork in health and social care by applying probabilistic simple random
sampling.
3.5 Data presentation & Analysis
Once the data is collected, it is very important to analysis the data in a systematic manner
so that eh data collected reveals meaning for the research. Data analysis is the process of
technique to clean, mould and transform the data. It is true that data collected without data
analysis useless and meaningless. Qualitative and Quantitative are two methods to analysis the
data in a meaningful manner (PISCITELLI, 2017). The technique in which data is analysed
through statical and descriptive tools are called as qualitative analysis. Whereas, the data which
is analysed through the evaluation of views and feeling of respondents is called as qualitative
data analysis. However, in this research, scholar has applied quantitative data analysis in order to
asses the importance of teamwork in health and social care effectively and efficiently.
3.6 Reliability and Validity
Reliability and validity is very important for the research is very important to considered.
All the sources are collected from authentic sources and results are un-baised so that the
reliability and validity of information is maintained till conclusion (Trynus, 2018).

data is collected through books, journals, internet, articles, blogs and any other sources is called
as secondary data.

3.7 Limitations
It consists of limitation due to resources, time, cost, data collection etc. In this present
research, the researcher has allocated the time for the activity but their was problems in
managing the time due to data analysing and data collection which mismanaged the time
allocated for the activities (Mainaki, Kastolani and Setiawan, 2018). Cost is the another research
limitation because in this the cost involved is increased due to collection for the data from
different sources. The another limitation for research is resources because it has consumer so
much time and cost for identifying the resources required for this project.
3.8 Ethical Consideration
When it times to conduct research, it is very important to consider the ethics which are
laws and regulations to conduct the research (Tuulik and Alas, 2019). Ethics are the standards
and norms that clears what is wrong and right. In this present research, scholar has abided all
these ethics which are as follows-
All the participants are adults and no one is vulnerable participants.
Privacy and security of data is maintained.
Informed consent.
Freedom to leave the sample.
No force full participation.
