INTRODUCTION
For community or society, health care practices are important. It is necessary to increase
level of social and health care services. The level of health related issues are increasing day by
day as new diseases are occurring in the surroundings which needs quick solutions. People must
be aware of different kinds of diseases which may affect them to a great extent. Health or social
care centre provides many services of medication and treatment to people of society and promote
awareness regarding diseases and social issues (Munn-Giddings and Winter, 2013). This project
report is based on various principles of health and social care practices which help to minimize
the risk or hazards for patients and society. Also, awareness is provided in society regarding new
diseases along with their their precautions so that people can make take corrective actions and
can free themselves from diseases. In the following report effectiveness of awareness is
discussed along with the importance for same for the society. Thereafter the need for awareness
regarding the health related issues will be discussed in the given text.
TASK 1
1.1 Principles of support applied to ensure that people are cared for health or social care practice
The main principle of health and social care practice is to provide support to various
service users. Principle of support in health care services should be applied to assure or maintain
better heath or well-being of service users and workers should be aware about the rights and
personality of patients. Beliefs or culture is transferred from person to person as people come
from different cultures in health care centres. So, the care worker must respect patient's beliefs
and his culture (Sheldon, 2011). Care workers perform different activities and duties of service
users with helping them in different ways like walking, sitting, moving, lifting and many more.
Principle of support is very important for service users as by the same, they are able to know
about the treatment procedures and maintain their privacy level according to requirements. There
are some principles to support social and health care which is given as below:
ï‚· It helps in ensuring that every person is able to set their own plan for their self care
services.
ï‚· There should be new methods of technology that can be utilised in social and health care
services by the concerned authorities.

ï‚· It assist in enhancing employees skills and knowledge so that they can give best services
to patients.
ï‚· Management should involve care workers in the process of development, planning or
evaluation of services which help to increase their confidence level.
ï‚· Also, various sessions for development of employees to minimize hazards and risks
should be conducted so that they can provide the best services to users of the same and
make them satisfied (Aveyard, 2014).
ï‚· Spread more awareness in society regarding new diseases and social issues so that people
can take required precaution to make themselves safe and secured.
1.2 Procedure for protecting patients, clients or colleagues from harm
One of the main objectives of health or social care practices is to promote as well as
maintain patient’s health and keep them comfortable or safe from various kinds of diseases. It is
the responsibility of employers of organisation to safeguard clients, patients, staffs or other
people who are associated with heath care centre. To make sure that everyone is safe in health
care centre, first need is to identify reason of harm and risk. Harms can be of different kinds like
psychological, financial, physical and emotional. Health care workers must ensure that the
services which they are providing to clients is in good quality and is being deliverer in effective
manner. To handle mentally affected patient is very difficult for care workers as they need more
care and support. It is important to protect people from mental harm as every person has different
character and outlook. So, the best solution is for them is emotional support by their loved ones,
family or friends which help them to overcome the mental pressure they are going through.
However, for clients care workers help in completing their task if they are unable to handle their
staff. Providing protection to colleagues from harm is also very important for care workers.
Health and social service is more risky as comparison to other jobs. If any client is having load
of work and pressure than they can help them to reduce their work pressure (Reeves and et. al.,
2011).
1.3 Benefits of following individual centred approach
Person centred approach means supporting or fulfilling the needs, wants and different
preferences of clients. Clients are encouraged to take their decision strictly by maintaining
privacy and dignity. In health and social care setting, one of the best practices is to handle clients

their needs and wants in a systematic manner. In this process, psychological, physical, emotional
and mental health of clients is properly cared. For social and health care services, this process is
beneficial as it helps to maintain good communication between care workers or service providers
and also help much in cooperating with care worker. The client's confidence level may be
increased if their issues are clearly answered. This way the work of care takers becomes easy and
hence they gain more confidence.
1.4 Ethical dilemmas or conflict faced by care workers while providing care or support
Many a times, care workers face some situations which are very complicated for them. It
is important for the care workers to follow and maintain rules as well as policies of organisation
for the benefits of clients. There are some situations arise in organisation where the rules and
policies are not implemented in which ethical dilemmas are created. Because of different cultural
beliefs of workers and service users, sometimes, conflicts arise in between them. Through these
conflicts, health and social care services get affected and also, the quality of health care
decreases (Council, 2010). In health and social care centre, some problem and issues arise which
are difficult to be handled by the organisation in an ethical way. When any person is suffering
from mental or emotional harm, ethical value is applicable there. In organisation care worker
face ethical dilemma as while doing work care worker can not help service user although it is his
duty of service user to take care. If something happen to service user then it is responsibility of
care worker. In social and health care this type of scenario is common. Handling this kind of
situation is very difficult for care workers. In health and social care centre some problem and
issues arises which is difficult to handle by organisation in ethical way.
TASK 2
2.1 Implementation of legislation or policies that relevant in health & social care work
To provide best quality services to users health and social care practice use and
implement various policies, regulations, legislation or code of practice on the basis of national or
local policies which is very important. The care workers must follow the rules and regulation all
time while doing work as this profession is highly sensitive. The employees of health care centre
must use data protection act to secure clients information. According to this act, client's
information is provided to any proper person. There is another health regulation control of

substances hazardous according to which organisation can use chemical or substance element
only when they are highly required. Only proper person accessibility of chemical ingredients, all
time use of bleaching agents, cupboard containers and detergents are locked. The products like
medication or other equipments kept in secured place and access to it regularly (Brownson,
Colditz and Proctor, 2011). It is duty of employees to observe safety and implement safety
precaution properly on requirement. Appropriate training and development programs provided to
employees regarding laws, policies, legislation and regulations to make their organisation risk
free.
2.2 Local policies or procedures developed in accordance local or national requirements
To provide proper guidelines to different institutes and professional fields various
policies or procedures are developed. The national policies reflect broad area and scope where
local policies reflect smaller. Policies should be very clear cut or easy to understand without any
confusion. There is diversity in all organisation so all rules and policies are not properly suitable
for every company. For flexibility in organisation policies need to modify in future. To get best
result and effective management policies are studied carefully and implemented in proper
planned manner. There is some faults and mistake in some laws or policies for the technical
development. To maintain correlation or synchronization between national as well as local
policies is very important for the growth and success. It is responsibility of employees to review
laws and procedures on regular basis for effective work. Sometimes, employees get very eager to
follow those rules and regulation which reflect culture to make their job comfortable and easy
but do not like to follow regulation and rules in opposite cases (Moule and Hek, 2011). It is
important to monitor all the rules, regulation and policies properly on regular bases to get best
outcomes.
2.3 Impact of legislation, policy or code practice on organisational practice
In every organisation big or small legislation, rules, policies or code of practice have play
very essential contribution. According to legislation and policies organisation do their practices.
Mainly, it provide guidelines to all employees and organisation to follow. For health and social
care centre it is very tough to formulate policies which is legal, without references of legislation
and laws. Any organisation can operate their activities smoothly with the help of policies and
regulation without any conflicts. In company employees have to follow rules and regulation
while performing any task or duty at work place for effective result. If there is any confusion

regarding rules than employees can ask to their senior to get out from dilemma. If any one break
the laws then organisation can punish the employees and take immediate step to correct their
work. An organized and appropriate ethical working environment can be developed for the
employees as well as service users (Riekert, Ockene and Pbert, 2013). If company practising
within laws than the business level increase at higher level. Laws and legislation help
organisation to perform well in competitive business market in ethical way. It also help in
planing and strategy making process for the growth as well as development of company in fixed
time period by following laws and regulation effectively.

3.1 Various theories that underpin social and health care practice
There is so many theories made for the health and social care practices in which
individual's need and various event get priority. These theories help to develop plans for
promoting healthy lifestyle or achieve higher level of emotional, social, spiritual and mental
fitness to users of service. Maslow's hierarchy need is one of the social and health care theory. In
this human needs are divided into various levels in which basic needs put in first priority.
According to this theory employees doesn't move to next level without achieving first level of
needs. There is different stages in this hierarchy such as physiological, safety need, social need,
self esteem need and self actualisation. In this physiological need is considered as fundamental
need which is also known as basic need (Enthoven, 2014). The another well known theory is
human growth and development. According to the age of people their development and growth,
service or care and services changed in different stage of life. There is many other theories which
are used by health and social care regarding stress management, behaviour and social processes.
All this theory play important role in health and social care practice. Care worker deal with
many kind of people in organisation. This theory help to understand the behaviour and attitude of
peoples so that it is easy to deal with them. Care worker of health centre take care of their
patients effectively so that patient recover fast from illness or diseases. To deal with service user
organisation should known adequate knowledge and make their own policies and roles to
manage patient or their behaviour.

3.2 Social processes impact on health and social care service's users
Social processes play very vital role in the society. The behaviour and reaction of people
in different circumstances are influenced by it. People's way of thinking action, choice of
lifestyle and process of adaption is also highly influenced by it. For effective management and
growth of business health and social care considers social processes while making strong
strategies and plan. Health and social care services applied differently as there is different
peoples from different cultures, who react completely different in circumstances of same nature.
The mode of perceiving behaviour by people is highly affected by social processes. The peer
and group of people belong to those person who choice unhealthy practices like smoking and
drinking.
3.3 Effectiveness of interpersonal relationship
Due to the caste and cultural qualities, few care worker give favour to one service user
than the other one. There is some employees who thinking ones culture is superior than other and
do discrimination at work place which reduce employees involvement in organisational activities
and task. In organisation there should not favouritism all employees should be treated equally to
increase growth as well as development in business market place (American Speech-Language-
Hearing Association, 2016). Employees give their full efforts to achieve goals and objective of
company if they are satisfied with their job.

4.1 Role or duties in context of working outside and within the health and social care workplace
It is role of health and social care setting to provide conducive or therapeutic healthy
environment to the service user. Trusting relationship is important part of the process as mostly
time carer with users of service. It is responsibility of health and social care council to provide
strong and health services to the users for effective environment (Stuart, 2014). Company can
achieve its achieve roles and objectives by performing roles and activity well to users. It is duty
of social council to provide awareness and promote health issues to ensure health or safety of
people. The physiological, physical, financial and emotional interest of clients also protected by
them so, that people start to trust more on them. It is important within organisation to provide
best and healthy services to patients to make them satisfied and free from illness. Care worker
should be more responsible towards their services and work because in organisation care worker

play very significant role in health care organisation. As, it is duty of care worker to handle
patient more carefully and give all required services on time so that patient get well soon. From
outside the organisation they provide more and more awareness in society so, that people get
aware about new invented diseases on time. It also help to promote healthy environment to
reduce diseases in society by unwanted wastage and dirt (Casey and Wallis, 2011). There should
be clear and health environment provided to patients so that they feel good and get free from
diseases as soon as possible with good medical treatments. There is some roles and duties assign
by organisation to their employees for effective work and to provide good treatment to their
patients and clients without any mistake. Also, provide training to their employees if there is
need of improvement to enhance their skills and capabilities to perform task and duty at work
place. It help to increase employees knowledge and confidence level to attain any new task or
activity without fear. Roles and regulation of organisation provide proper guidelines to their
employees what they have to do at work place and what they don't.
4.2 Own contributions to development or implementation of health and social care policy
For the growth as well as development of company make their own rules, regulation and
policy which help to maintain their stability in competitive business market. The policy and
rules should be very clear and understandable by employees to minimise misinterpretation and
misunderstanding at workplace (Glasby and Dickinson, 2014). So, it is important for
organisation to make straightforward and clear policies to achieve their goals and objectives in
certain time period. If employees obey rules, regulation and policy effectively than good working
workforce created in the company. After making policy it is must to review and regular monitor
to get best result and outcomes in fixed time period. If there is aspect find out which is not useful
for organisation and employees than that will remove from policy for effective management
work.
4.3 Recommendations to develop own contributions
In order to meet with good and healthy practice requirements employees must learn some
adequate knowledge and skills about the code of practice by health and social care council. By
proper learning and knowledge company can determine whether their work is adhering by
national standards and policies which help to evaluate employees as well as management
performance. National or local policies should be concern in process of carers which help to
reduce problem and issues. It is compulsory for every health and social care organisation to

follow some general rules , regulation and legislation and set their own rules to achieve success
in market place. It is responsibility of manager to provide training to their employees according
to their need of requirement of improvement to enhance their skills and abilities so, that they can
perform well at work place (White and Dudley-Brown, 2011). It help to increase growth or
development of organisation in dynamic environment. It also help to reduce conflicts which is
arises between managers and employees. Conflicts can reduce the employees performance as
well as their interest in work if there is no good relationship within the organisation.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that there are certain principles which are
termed as codes and ethics which has to be followed by the health and social care organisation to
gain maximum patience satisfaction. This supports them in delivering better services and ensure
that any patient client coming to the centre are cared properly. Through using various techniques
and safety measure they are making sure that no clients are harmed. With the help of person
centred approach they are they are brining efficiency in the work but at the same time there are
certain conflicts and dilemmas which can arise at the work place so in such conditions by the use
of certain appropriate approaches issues can be resolved. Whenever the management frame any
policy they should consider the reviews and feedback and then focus on the fact that it is abiding
the organisation culture. Each health and social professional has to understand their roles and
responsibilities so that they can give effective services.
