INTRODUCTION
Health and social care is defined as the term which is used in order to make the relation which is
best suitable with the service that is available from the health and social care provider which is
associated with the UK. This is usually a generic term which is used to refer the whole of the
healthcare provision infrastructure which is based on the private sector. In this report, the
discussion is based on two task, first task is about where the healthcare professional assistant
shares their experience on the surgical wards and the second task of the report produce a research
article or journals which is related with the working in health and social care sector (Brewster
and et. al., 2020).

TASK 1: REFLECTION
Gibbs reflection model
The Gibbs reflection model is first developed by the Graham Gibbs in the year 1998 which help
to provide the structure of learning from experience. It also used to make offer which is based on
framework and examining the experience which is related with the cyclic nature that particularly
related with the experience that allow to learn and plan the things in the appropriate ways. In the
context with the task, the experience is associated with the healthcare assistant in the surgical
wards (Čartolovni and et. al., 2021).
Description: I am working as a healthcare assistant in the surgical ward where is used to support
and provide the equipment to the healthcare professional during the surgical procedure which is
conducted by the surgeon which is also a healthcare professional. Moreover, I also used to
prepare the patient for the pre-operative session by monitoring and inspecting the patient the
broader way as the patient is fulfilling the requirement of surgical procedure or not. In my
context, the patient compliance is not important aspect by preparing the patient for their surgery
with physical and the mental level.
Feeling: I feel initially stress during my role and responsibilities because surgery is the major
aspect where the term and regulation has been followed in the broader way. In this, the patient
comfortability before the surgery is also a challenging aspect which require support and care
which is fulfilled by me. While providing support and care to the number of patient I feel so
responsible and worthy as healthcare professional.
Evaluation: In the surgical wards, sometime the situation become panic and require instant move
to produce comfort for the patient. In this, the activeness towards the work and active listening is
helpful to fulfil the require which is related with the communication and interaction that require
proper support for the patient and health professional before and after the surgery.
Analysis: The analysis in my term indicate that as a healthcare professional it is difficult to
complete and fulfil the requirement at same time. I used to arrange all the surgical equipment
before surgery and provide instant support when the healthcare professional needed.
Conclusion: As per the above, while working as a healthcare assistant, surgical wards is also
followed health and social care system by maintaining the integrity of patient culture and their
religious aspect (Henderson and et. al., 2017).

Action plan: While preparing for the surgical procedure, it is essential to make some plan and
implement as according to provide resilience and wellbeing to the patient. The primary aspect
which is followed under the surgical procedure is to maintain the patient dignity and respect and
this all is usually followed by me in order to maintain resilience and wellbeing as a part of health
and social care worker.

TASK 2: JOURNALS ARTICLE
The journal article is usually defined as the piece of paper work which is published with the
medium of print or the electronic medium which is be for the purpose of study, propagating
news, research article, academic analysis or the debate. Usually, the journals article is show the
preference which is shorter than the book and written about the specific context and topic. The
journals are also referring as the collection of article which majorly include magazine which is
published regularly through the years. Moreover, the journals article also used to present the
recent research and the journals which is written by experts and also for the expert who is interest
to take some knowledge (Kime and et. al., 2019).

Abstract
The pre and post-operative care is the major aspect which is followed under the horizon
of surgical wards. This is majorly including care and support which is associated with the
patients. In this, the work related activities which is usually taken in the health and social care
which include hospital, clinics, dentist and many more. The health and social care sector are
usually helpful to support the huge number of people in such a way which develop quality of
health and care to individual who is suffering from any kind of implications. While taking the
contrast of surgical work, the healthcare professional used to perform various activities which is
related with the patient support and care. Whereas, in the situation of pre-operative assessment,
the healthcare assistant used to take medical history of patient, risk assessment and common
cause of postponing surgery. As per this, this all term is qualitative while taking the aspect of
pre-operative factor which is related with the patient compliance. Moreover, the post-operative
care is to create and develop sanitize area among the patient surrounding in order to reduce the
complication which may create complication as infection in the surgical site infection. The
proper use of disinfectant and antiseptic which is used in such a way which help to develop
safety environment which is free from pathogen and other which eradicate the issue of surgical
site infection and other infection which is associated with patient after the surgery. In addition to
this, the health and social sector used to provide responsibilities to healthcare assistant to monitor
and inspect the patient before and after the surgery (Mortensen and et. al., 2022).

Introduction
The surgical suite provide which is based on the ample space which is provided to the
healthcare professional and equipment. It also used to encourage the smooth flow of the people
and the material which is associated with the room. As per this, the individual with the surgical
site varies as according by the surgical services which is all suited with sharing of some
characteristic which is mentioned. The size of the operating site which help to reflect that the
space required by the patients, staff and the equipment that use to carry out the surgical
procedure. In addition to this, the standard surgical suite is at least 400 square feet within the
health and social care sector which include hospital, clinics and so on. The surgical suites which
help to require the specialized equipment or additional personnel which is usually significantly
larger. It is very important aspect which help to provide the space that is sensitive medical
equipment which is not positioned and place in traffic area because the higher risk of hazard and
individual harm is being analysed. The shape of the operating suite that can take the various form
which include square, rectangular, round and the oval which all depend on the design preference
and the overall layout that is formulated according to the operating room (Parente and et. al.,
2018).
Moreover, the role and responsibilities of the healthcare assistant in the operative care is
used to promote the healthy behaviour and taking care of patient safety and their health history
which is beneficial for the patient. In addition to this, the healthcare assistant used to manage the
most of the ongoing care and treatment in the hospital. They are used to make the assess plan and
administer the daily treatment and used to manage the general health which is associated with the
patient safety and their compliance. In order to make the patient safety and comfortability which
help fulfil the immediate need that is related with the health assistant. They also used to play
various role and responsibilities that is help to make the direct right to speak the people about
their complication and medical issue.
Role and responsibilities
They are used to follow various role and responsibility which is related with the experience and
specialities. Majorly the role includes various performance that is they are taking care of wards,

and the patient status which is ready for the surgery. The pre-operative care is being taken and
provide instruction which is followed before the surgical procedure. They also help the nurse and
other medical staff in order to run the wards and also make work as substitute when the nurse is
used to leave and off site. Moreover, they also used to perform high level of day to day care and
show different aspect of minor procedure. In addition to this, they also used to provide some of
medical care which help in under supervisor of the more nurses (Perlman and et. al., 2020).
Method
The article is being investigated with the various medium which usually method to
extract the data and approach which is helpful to present the data within the article. While
producing of the journal article, the qualitative and quantitative method are used which is based
on the various factor that show the reliability and validity of the article. The qualitative method is
used to focus on the description and elaboration which is related with the characteristic that is
based on the morphological standpoint of research article. The simple random method is used in
order to select the participant which is focus on the different aspect which help in the approach of
survey and using the term of questionnaire. As per this, the quantitative method is based on the
numeric and statistic that follow the various term such as closed ended question, questionnaire
and many more.
Therefore, the primary and secondary article formulation approach has been taken. In this
article, the data is related with the work based activities which show the aspect of primary
research which help to elaborate the issue and fraction based on the various reliability and
validity which is selected with the topic named as pre and post-operative care for the patient who
used to take support and care which is drive by healthcare professional. The primary approach is
defined as the research or the investigation which is drive with the public survey, face to face
interview and many more which is showing the aspect of method for the data collection and
extraction. In this, the secondary research approach which is used in such a way which is helpful
to collect the data by using the technique of review of books and journals that is related with the
article and written by other authors which is based on selected topic (Shallal and et. al., 2021).
Discussion
The discussion is based on the work related activities that associated with the pre and post-
operative care of patient which is drive by healthcare in the health and social care sector.
Moreover, health and social care sector basically include hospital and many more. In this, the

healthcare assistant used to play vital role in the development of quality of health and
maintaining effective teamwork with other in order to quality based service to the patient. The
healthcare professional assistant used to work in the surgical wards which have main aim to
provide instruction before the surgery and provide proper support and care to the patient (Spinelli
and et. al., 2019).
Healthcare assistant usually take helpful approach which is reported for the establishment
with the patient. In this, taking with the aspect of history which is based on order special
investigation. Moreover, they used to assess the risk of anaesthesia in such a way which help to
reduce the risk of coma that is usually observe when the excess anaesthesia is administer in body.
The proper mediaction and the drug administration has been provided with the documentation
which is recorded by healthcare assistant. In this, the history has been taking which is recorded
with the help of chart review, collected the data of present illness, whereas also collect the data
which is related with family history which may include porphyria, malignant, hyperpyrexia,
haemophilia and many more abnormalities and the dystrophy myotonica. The major of disease
which is related with the cardiovascular disease and respiratory and they must create hindrance
in the surgery. This all data is being documented by healthcare assistant and convey to the health
care professional to measure the risk and complication which may arise while surgery.
Moreover, there are other recorded history has been evaluated which include allergy to
the drug that is related with the anaesthesia. The sore throat and the headache is also observed
during the documentation that is associated with the patient and individual who is admitted in the
surgical wards. In this, the post-operative nausea and vomiting is also associated with the history
of the previous anaesthesia. In addition to this, the exposure of the halothane within the 3 month
prior to the surgery is also analysed which is recorded through the process of documentation
which is written by healthcare professional assistant. There are some of the pre medication which
is also delivered to the patient with the objective. The major aim of the pre medication is to
reduce the anxiety and fear, reduce secretion, enhance the hypotonic effects of anaesthetic
agents. Therefore, they reduce post-operative nausea and vomiting. This all solution is usually
calibrated and prepare by healthcare assistant that administer the patient for their safety (Tsang
and et. al., 2020).

As per the above discussion, it is defined as the pre and post-operative care is essential
approach which taken by the health and social care sector in order provide quality of health and
care to the individual. In this, the patient used to need support and care during their surgical
process which is fulfilled by healthcare assistant who used to assist the patient during the surgical
procedure in the surgical wards. The proper care during the surgical wards is helpful for the
aspect of healthcare professional and patient both because the healthcare assistant used to assist
the practitioner with the equipment and other in the surgical wards. In this, they also provide and
maintain support and care to the patient (Wright and et. al., 2021).
CONCLUSION
As per the above discussion, it is analysed that the report is based on experience which is
associated with work based activities. Whereas, the report cover two task which explain the
Gibbs model for the reflection which is useful o share their experience and feeling during the
workplace activities during the health and social care. In addition to this, the journals article has
been produced which is related with the health and social care that explain about the activities
which performed within healthcare sector as a healthcare assistant.
