Introduction
Lepp, Barkley and Karpinski (2014) demonstrated that when a student face issues in
physical and mental health, the impact manifests on performance of the student. Stress,
depression and depression are the major cause for decreasing intellectual as well as emotional
flexibility of a student and weaken creativity. These also undermine interest in obtaining new
knowledge, ideas as well as experiences. Hence, it is important to develop positive classroom
culture helpful to face optimal challenges by making social connection and developing flexibility
and personal development (Jamieson et al. 2015). Creation of an enjoyable and welcoming
classroom can improve positive wellbeing for students. In this perspective, it is important to have
real-life learning experience by connecting learning to life.
Loos (2017) mentioned that the positive impact of technology and recent development of
mobile applications on health and wellbeing of students. The rise of technology and mobile
applications help a number of areas in modern life. Development of current technology helps to
monitor health and level of fitness easily. Wearable technology has a great impact on health and
wellbeing industry. It enables users to control own fitness as well as push to the next level. In
student life, it is required to have proper planning, scheduling and preparation. Mobile
applications can be helpful for scheduling tasks, suggesting right nutrition and calories.
On the other hand, addressing health and wellbeing factors are important in present years,
as it becomes major concerns for university students. Health and wellness practice have an
important role on education. It focuses on the significance of nurturing learners helping them to
develop knowledge and skills (Orr et al. 2015). In addition, good health and wellbeing helps to
be positive mental, emotional and physical wellbeing at classroom. Hence, university needs to be

caring environment in terms of providing facilities that can be helpful for the students to stay
with sound health and wellbeing. Learning through health as well as wellbeing can be helpful to
promote confidence and independent thinking with positive attitudes and dispositions. Learning
in university needs to cover several areas like physical education, food and health, relationships,
parenthood and development of maturity of every individual. Moreover, it is important to focus
on mental health and wellbeing of the students in the university classroom. Some
epidemiological studies have reported that that there are nearly 30% of the university students
are suffering from a diagnosable psychiatric disorder. Additionally, there are 15% students
significant disability attribute to mental disorders (Rodgers et al. 2016). The rate of suicide
among them is also considered as high. There are an increasing number of mental health issues
reported in higher education. Problems in mental health may affect performance of a student that
points out the requirements for comprehending the connection between mental health and
success in academic.
As education holds power for transforming lifestyle and empowers students to lead a
healthy life, it is important to focus in the classrooms of university. Development and innovation
of technology helps people handling health issues. There are several mobile applications
available such as Big White Wall (BWW), Wellmind and Emoodji helpful to manage and
mitigate the issues. However, implementing applications and following the instructions
sometime remain difficult in university classroom. Several issues like compatibility, budget
along with some major negative impact of using technology and mobile applications are the
major barriers. The first benefit is the improved access to medical care. This major innovation
will help the population living in distant areas. As a result, they will not have to visit distant
places for treatment (Istepanian, Laxminarayan and Pattichis 2014). According to the connection

is required or virtual services can be prescribed. This will eventually lead to improvements in the
services provided.
The next benefit is the improvements in engagement with the customers involved. The
traditional methods of healthcare systems involved the customers to stand in long queues. This
will be removed by the integration of the mobile applications. The users of the application will
book for appointments and pay online. In addition, their timings of the appointments can also be
selected through the application (Torous, Friedman and Keshavan 2014). Moreover, any new
changes can be notified to the patients by using email or mobile notifications. This completely
reduces the need for a patient to constantly check up on the healthcare center. Furthermore, these
applications can also be able to notify the patients regarding any changes in appointments and
also notify them if their doctor is running late. The next benefit is the improvement in the safety
of the materials. The traditional methods of healthcare diagnostics involved the presence of
various diagnosis files. These files are reports which denote the health related data of a patient.
Using the mobile applications, these reports can be transferred to these applications (Charani et
al. 2014). This will reduce the need to carry and maintain these documents as they will be readily
available in the device. The mobile applications can remind people about taking their pills,
monitor the effects of these pills and constantly track the records of the patient. This will be a
huge advancement in the safety of a patient.
Hence, it becomes important to identify the major barriers for implementing the use of
technology and mobile applications for health and wellbeing and taking effective steps to
overcome the issues.

Research aims and objectives
Innovation of technology has brought a massive change in human life. Development of
internet and mobile technology makes life easier through helping people in a number of ways
like teaching, healthcare and so on. However, there are also some major issues and negative
aspects of using technology and mobile applications. The paper aims to critically analyze the role
of technology and mobile application in health and wellbeing at university classroom. In
addition, the issues and challenges faced while using mobile applications for health and
wellbeing at university classroom are addressed and recommend solutions to overcome the
issues.
In order to achieve aim of the research, following objectives need to be fulfilled.
To investigate the importance of health and wellbeing at university classroom
To critically analyze the role of technology and mobile applications in health and
wellbeing at university classroom
To identify the challenges faced while using mobile applications in health and
wellbeing at university classroom
To design and implement a suitable mobile app that is able to fulfill the demands
at university classroom for health and wellbeing
Addressing the importance of health and wellbeing is significant as performance of the
students is dependent on that. Present research focuses on the factors that can physically and
mentally disorder among students (Weston et al. 2015). On the other hand, the role of technology
and mobile applications for prevention of health issues is discussed in the present study. The

challenges faced for using the applications are important to be addressed for mitigating the
issues. In addition, it is important to focus on the security issues and challenges faced while
using technology and mobile application at university classroom. The research focuses on the

important to design and implement suitable mobile app that is able to fulfill the demands at
university classroom for health and wellbeing.

Health and wellbeing of students at university classroom has a significant value as it is
related to performance of the students. As present circumstance at universities become more
complicated and pressurized, several issues like health problems arise. Hence, it become very
difficult to cope up the situations and lead healthy lifestyle. Mobile applications are an important
technology that has changes the way businesses operates around the world. Moreover, these
technologies are also being used for other related purposes as well. Health care systems are
another sector which needs the importance of mobile application development to succeed in the
market. It has been predicted that the market of the healthcare sector in the whole world will
increase by four times. There are various ways by which mobile applications can change the way
these healthcare systems operate. Innovation of digital technology has brought a huge change in
health and wellbeing of people. Various digital methods like health applications, online
communities and online diagnosis adopted for metal care. Additionally, mobile applications have
an important role to prevent the health issues. The research aims to investigate the factors that
are responsible for health and wellbeing at university classroom and design as well as implement
suitable application that would be helpful to mitigate the issues. In this case, research aims and
