INTRODUCTION
Health and wellness is very important part of human being as it support in increasing person
ability to live their lives. This can be describe the state in which a person is completely fit to
perform their day to day activities (White, 2016). Health person does not have any disease of
illness which can affect their living standards. It is crucial for an person to take necessary actions
and steps which support in living a better and healthy life. This report will include different
elements related to health, wellness and illness. In this different range of ways are determined in
which health and illness are conceptualised. Several perspective of health and illness are
considered with consideration of social and cultural ideas. Apart from this various models of
health is also determined.
BACKGROUND
According to World Health Organisation, Health can be define as the physical, mental
and social well being state of a person which have absence of diseases or any kind of infirmity.
In other words health can be describe as the condition is which a person is completely fit and fine
internally and externally. Definition of wellness can be understand as the state of a person in
which they are called health person. Wellness refer as the process in which individual is more
aware of making good choices towards their health and full filling life. Well being definition
includes the experience of a healthy, happy as well as prosperity in life. Individual well being
consist of good mental along with this high level of life satisfaction, sense of meaning as well as
capability of a person to mange it strength. Where as illness can be define as the unhealthy
condition of a person. This is the unhealthy or poor health state of a person which affect their day
to day activities and impact over their personal and professional career.
Traditional concept of health was completely focused on disease free represents. As
person health condition can be understand through the disease they are dealing with. Traditional
a person is considered to be a health person when they do not have any disease or issues internal
and externally (Taylor, 2015). As compare to today’s time a person is considered to be health
when they are able to conduct their day to day activities actively and efficiently. There are ranges
of ways through which an individual behaviour and group behaviour is influences as the
conceptualisation of health and illness. It is crucial for a person to take correct and appropriate
steps for being a health person. It has been determined that illness in a person lead to impact in

perspective and symbolic interactionism (Creamer and Austin, 2017). In this functionalism
perspective refer as the good health as well as effective medical care of a person which is crucial
for performing smooth and functional activities of society. In case of illness, it is responsibility
of physical to provide appropriate instruction to patient and these instruction should be followed
by person. Where as conflicts theory state that the major characteristic of health care and quality
of health is social inequality. All those people who are from disadvantaged social backgrounds
are tend to be more ill and they receive inadequate health care. Well, through the perspective of
symbolic interactionism it can be determined that health and illness both are construction of
social. It state that physical and mental condition lead to have little of or objective realty where
as instead they are considered as condition of health and illness.

that is considered by analysing how a person is able to function is their specific environment
instead of focussing on any singular competence, pathology or any disability of a person. There
