Abortion is the issue of terminating the pregnancy either intentionally or intentionally
due to some specific reasons. In the recent time, the issue of abortion has invoked various
debates where many acknowledged sources claiming it to be unlawful act of killing an
unborn baby. According to the recent studies, it was found that in Philippines there is high
rate of maternal mortality among women arising out of unsafe abortion. Around 1000
Philippines women die every year due to unsafe abortion practices. The unsafe abortions
pose various ethical issues that affect rights of the women and unborn baby. For instance,
there are two ways of ethical side in seeing this issue of abortion that include Pro-Choice and
Pro-life. In the Pro- choice, a woman has the right to terminate the pregnancy on her will. On
other hand, the Prolife, claims unborn baby right to be born. The ban on abortions could
violate the rights of choice for women while abortion could lead to violations of the right of
unborn baby (Raj, 2018).
In the issue of abortion, various human protection rights were established that include
granting therapeutic care to the mother and fetus and ensuring the proper and appropriate
research on the topic that include review of the medical documents. In WHO, the committee
on the child rights have urged the government to decriminalize the abortions and providing
the proper equipment for the safe abortions (Sedgh, 2016). The committee of human rights
have also ensured the legal and the safe abortion for the women by ensuring the availability
of the equipment for abortion at hospital. Various steps can be taken to ensure the human
subject protections that include creating awareness regarding issue through various platforms
that include social media, public campaigns and documentary movies. The high degree of
awareness could lead to better management of the affairs. The more the woman will be
aware about issues and its legislations, the better their response would be and there would be
higher degree of positive actions towards the things (Jatlaoui, 2018).
