INTRODUCTION
 Health care agencies make use of theorists for
health promotion and disease prevention (Willis,
Reynolds & Keleher, 2016).
 The theories and models enable program
planning and explain health behaviour for
identifying, develop and implement
interventions.
 There are several theories that are currently in
use for health promotion and prevention of
diseases. Some models are Ecological model, the
health belief model, stages of change model (or
transtheoritical model), social cognitive theory
and theory of reasoned action or planned
behaviour (Chinn & Kramer, 2011).
