The Essene of the Alyisha Project
Alyisha is an innovative project that targets the health needs of the children and families
within the Inner West Council Local Government Area. The project will mainly provide
healthcare services to the parents and children between the ages of 2 and 6 years. The project
will be based on the principles of fairness, justice, and equality. That is why it will give
preference to the isolated and so-called hard-to-reach patients. Because of this, it is in line with
various Australian health-related policy frameworks such as the National Framework for
Universal Child and Family Health Services (The Framework), Children and Young People in
Out-of-Home Care, National Framework for Universal Child and Family Health Services (The
Framework), the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Plan 2013–2023, the
NSW Aboriginal health plan 2013–2023 (Schmied, Homer, Fowler, Psaila, Barclay, Wilson &
Kruske, 2015). These are some of the policy-frameworks that seek to address the health needs of
this kind of population.
In terms of costs, the project is expected to cost a total of AU$ 500,000. The project will
support the principles of early intervention and prevention because of the proper manner in
which it will be rolled-out. It will focus on the provision of preventive care to all the members of
the target population. All the parents and adults will be provided with adequate education to
equip them with the knowledge to use in addressing the health needs of themselves and the
children as well (Rossiter, Fowler, Hesson, Kruske, Homer & Schmied, 2019). To achieve this,
the project will have to partner with the local community, empower them well, and also rely on
the services of the locals who have a sound knowledge of the health needs of the community as
well as the socio-cultural and economic diversities of the people.
