Case study Description
The two case studies involve patients care attendance in health care facilities. The two
patients in the case study from Mississippi hospital both have urgent need for medical
attention and they are experiencing referral for better health care with limited resources to
facilitate their care provisions. Patient Raymond is having trouble towards accessing medical
help and access of better medical facility is far thus impeding provision of health care to suit
his needs. On the other hand Patient Emmanuel on the other has received referral to external
medical help which cannot be met with his current health insurance, thus impeding his access
to medical help.
Health Care Concerns
The case studies above illustrate issues surrounding access, quality and cost of health
care services for the two patients. The lack of available medical facility limits patient
Emmanuel from accessing health care services and lack of financial resources further
delineates his access for quality care and denies him the right to receive care. Patient
Emmanuel limitation on the other hand faces financial constraints towards the referral request
from primary care provider to another facility not include in his medical insurance scheme.
Thus these issues portray the complexities which often persist in health provision, (Roberts
2017).
Implications of Case Issues
Providing high quality care which is affordable has continued to be an increasing
difficult state. This is coupled with complexities in the health care services and systems. The
aspect of interpreting the use of costs, quality, accessibility, delivery, financing and outcomes
of health care provision is key for health service management, (Steinwachs & Hughes, 2008).
Thus as health administrators, the key challenge will be availing health services which is
quality and affordable to the common citizen.
