INTRODUCTION
Contemporary issues mainly comprise of identifying and evaluating the
main problems that presents within the current society and various aspect of
world. Implication and analysis of contemporary issue is vital and important
as it provide an effective approach to addressing global and regional issues
along with reflecting the historical influences and multiple perspectives.

Contemporary issues
The contemporary issues that are identified by the me within my own
(care assistance) area of health and social care sector that could influence
service improvement are provided and listed as below:
• Lack of Advanced Health Technology.
• Healthcare Staffing Shortages.
• No Advancement Opportunities.
• Lack of Mentoring.
• Poor Organizational Culture.
• Lack of Training or Professional Development.

Two main contemporary issues
At present the, the two main contemporary issues that has been faced by NHS and entire heath
care sector and Brexit a brief discussion of which has been provided as below: of UK
comprises of Covid-19
Covid-19- The COVID-19 pandemic is a global health emergency that requires effective
immediate action by governments and individuals. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is
basically an infectious disease that is caused by a newly discovered coronavirus from which
most of the people are infected and experience mild to moderate respiratory illness.

Brexit- The UK’s decision to leave the EU may result in a domestic
economic downturn. There is currently 135,000 NHS staff working in
England, who are not UK nationals. The ongoing political uncertainty
surrounding the future of EU nationals living and working in the UK will
inevitably lead to NHS staff choosing to leave the UK.

Impact of Covid-19
The health and social care sector is most negatively
impacted by Covid-19 issues as at one hand they are
having the responsibility of treating COVID-19
patients and at the same time also faced several
challenges such as shortage of staff, lack of medical
equipment due to huge increase in demand for acute
care and many more.

Protecting the nurses and health care assistant and practitioner from this deadly disease while treating
the employees is also a big challenge and most negative consequences of the covide-19 that has
created the issue of shortage of staff. There is various perspective on which the negative impact of
Covid-19 is seen that comprises of Local, national and international, an impact of covid-19 on which
has been reflected below within the speaker notes. The chosen perspective for current project is Local
perspective within health and medical care sector that has most negatively affected by the Covid-19.
The local perceptive comprises of practitioner, nurses, care assistant and many more.

The main impact and consequences of covid-19 at local perspective are listed as below:
• Negative impact in terms of death and serious illness.
• indirect impact on people with acute conditions not related to COVID-19.
• Negative affect on the people with chronic conditions, or people needing less urgent care has been also interrupted
during the time of lockdown and covid-19 scenario.
• Medium and long-term impact on supply chain of health care sector created by government interventions to restrict
movement to curb the transmission of COVID-19.
• Negative impact on on service capacity and resilience of health care sector in form shortage of staff and lack of skilled
care assistance and nurses.

Key perspective and the impact upon care
delivery
It has been seen that a most adverse impact of the covid-19 situation is seen
the local practises as become difficult to treat patient who are suffering from
acute conditions not related to COVID-19 and chronic conditions that has
been also interrupted during the time of lockdown and covid-19 scenario.
Along with this, shortage of staff and lack of talented nurses and assistant
care has been also faced within health and social care practitioner.

Recommendations
The recommendation that can be made to effectively overcome the chosen issue that can be
implemented in such a way that it achieves the most appropriate results possible and yet minimises
disruptions to services provided are provided as below:
• Ensuring an availability of a safer and secure PPT kits and other health and medical care
techniques and tools
• Providing online care and digital medical solution for acute conditions and chronic conditions
• Ensuring improved recruitment and retention of health care practitioner and assistant

Conclusion
With respect to above Presentation, a conclusion can be made that covid-19 is severe global
pandemic that causes many kills and serve condition across the world. Sudden lockdown
and social distancing is the main challenge along with stopping the spread of covod-19
especially in health and medical acre staff. Further, a summarisation can be made that
shortage of staff, lack of talent health care assistant and burnouts of practitioner are the
main issues and challenges faced at times of covid-19 that has drastic impact on health and
social care.
