Discussion Board Post
AI Summary
This discussion forum post explores the critical importance of creating and capturing data in healthcare, emphasizing its role in enhancing patient care. The author highlights how modern technology, such as computerized physician order entry (CPOE), facilitates efficient information delivery and communication among healthcare professionals, thereby minimizing medication and clinical errors. The post details how data capture supports faster and more informed decision-making, including appropriate drug dosages and alerts for potential complications. It also discusses how data analytics and clinical intelligence contribute to improved patient outcomes by standardizing care processes and facilitating the recognition of severe patient conditions. The post also references key articles to support the arguments and improve the overall quality of care, patient safety, and communication within the healthcare setting.

1DISCUSSION FORUM
Discuss the importance of creating and capturing data and how this improves patient care
by exploring the creation of knowledge and the use of analytics for business and clinical
intelligence.
Importance of capturing and creating data:
Modern technology in the clinical setting facilitates information delivery within a short
period of time to the physicians or other health professionals to support their clinical practice. In
the clinical setting, the medication error or clinical errors are common instances that affect the
quality of care. In this context, creating and capturing data plays a pivotal role in providing the
best possible care to the patients. One such example is the computerized physician order entry.
The importance of creating and data capturing is that it optimizes the communication process
between physicians and clients and between two professionals. Moreover, the data capturing and
creating support faster and appropriate decision making by suggesting appropriate drug doses,
routes, and frequencies (Wang, Kung & Byrd, 2018). It provides alert to the physicians regarding
the patient’s allergy to specific drugs and potential drug complications (Arabi et al., 2016).
Moreover, this data capturing process explores various clinical conditions and suggests the
provision of most advanced therapies according to the patient’s needs. This process is most
suitable in the clinical setting since it facilitates the recognition of severe conditions of the
patients. It plays an essential role in the standardization of care such as defaulting optimal drug
dose and possible side effects of the drug effects. Moreover, a basic CPOE system enables the
general practitioner to involve in the advance care process by reducing medical errors, especially
medication errors and standardizing management from the time of initial diagnosis or recognition
of a clinical problem (Arabi et al., 2016). Moreover, it allows management and clinical leaders to
facilitate the audit process within a short period of time.

How this improves patient care:
The technology improves the patents care by exploring the knowledge existed within a
short period. It improves patient care by optimization of order communication. It optimizes
communication since reducing transcription errors, eliminates the illegible handwriting, increase
response time, improves the identifications of the physicians, reduces the breaching the
confidentiality of the patients. It identifies a high-priority clinical process in the clinical setting, it
helps to obtain the senior leader support for facilitating the workforce (Arabi et al., 2016).
Moreover, capturing the data and creating data play a crucial role in involving all stakeholders at
a time for implementing process change. The data capturing enable physicians to alter practice
according to the unique needs of the patients, increase compliance and track changes in protocol.
It establishes a mechanism of providing feedback to the obtained result of the intervention
(Perlin, 2016). Consequently, all these processes of data capturing and creating data improve the
quality of care, improve patient safety and improve communications between professionals.
