QUESTION 4: REVIEW HOW YOU WOULD USE MOTIVATIONAL TECHNIQUES TO
IMPROVE QUALITY OF PERFORMANCE
Motivation is the key to achieve the set goals and objectives of the individuals. Personal motivation is
very important for ensuring the growth and development in the personal and professional career. In
order to maintain inner motivation, I have set to follow the content and process theories of motivation
in the way of my life goals. The Maslow's need hierarchy theory and Vroom's expectancy theory are the
best ways of encouraging oneself to achieve personal and career objectives (Ushioda, 2011).
The content theory of Maslow suggests that the individuals are motivated to a level of the hierarchy. In
order words, the fulfilment of one's basic needs motivates them to achieve the needs of the next level.
For instance, if the basic needs of home, food and shelter are fulfilled then the one is motivated to
achieve safety needs and the hierarchy goes on till the achievement of self-realization that is rarely
achieved. On the other hand, vroom’s process theory has suggested that an individual's behaviour is a
result of their conscious choices and beliefs that certain actions would maximize pleasure and minimize
pain (Ushioda, 2011). These content and process theories of motivation would support me in making
effective decisions to achieve my goals and objectives effectively. By following the content theory of
Maslow, I would set out my priorities and achieve them at hierarchy level.
