Ethical behavior in any organization around the globe is essential. Both the profit and
non-profit making organizations must follow some set code of ethics for them to operate well in
the society. Code of ethics is necessary because they guide the organization on how to address
matters related to human rights. A part from ethics, all healthcare organizations have a social
responsibility that they must fulfill. Health care professionals should understand the context of
social responsibility regarding hospital governance and delivery of all health care services.
In the modern competitive society, changes in the healthcare system are inevitable. They
are driven by so many factors such as the advancement of science and technology, improved
access to information, diversity due to globalization, economic status and the awareness of
human rights. All the above changes are facilitated by the need to carefully look at the ethical
behavior in the healthcare professional practices. Social responsibility is a concept that is
beginning to get embraced by so many organizations around the world. Social responsibility
means striving to meet all the fundamental goals of the organizations. It is done by taking care of
all the interest the stakeholders and at the same time acknowledge the rights of all people. All
medical care organizations have a responsibility to that the available resources are well utilized
to achieve the set health care goals. Social responsibility suggests that all stakeholders globally
accept a shared vision for the good of all the people in the medical profession. As an
organization, we ensure that the patients educated on some of the simple ways they could use to
protect themselves from some diseases such as malaria, cholera, typhoid, etc. the organization
also planned for very health checkups for different groups which are essential in achieving the
goals of a healthy society. (Levy, & Sidel, 2013).

The hospital has a policy that contains a set code of ethics that must be strictly followed
by health care givers. The vision and the mission of the organization emphasized on delivering
the best services by respecting and protecting all the information of the patient. Respecting the
confidentiality and privacy of the patient, providing the healthcare services equitably, developing
and maintaining trust are some of the significant issues in ethics. (Runciman, Merry, & Walton,
2017).
The top management of the hospital is keen to promote an environment that supports
cultural diversity. They ensure that practices that are culturally competent to influence outcomes
of the entire organization. The protocol, structures, values and relationships created within the
organization are aimed at promoting cultural diversity. The institutional policy and the individual
competence in the organization I worked in reflected on different backgrounds and cultures
which strengthens the hospital in the way they deal with different people. (Jeffreys, 2015).
The hospital is an excellent example of an employer of choice since it has created a sound
environment that promotes trust and engagement between the employees and the managers. It
has also created opportunities and career paths for all the employees to advance and grow. The
ethical behavior and social responsibility of the hospital are commendable. I would recommend
the management should consider improving the technology used in the organization. this is
because it will help them serve more people and provide better services to all its customers
(Goetzel, et al 2014).
