INTRODUCTION TO THE RESEARCH PROJECT
This report will be discussing the impact of information technology on health care sector (Albert
et al., 2016). It has been observed that the continuous development of technology have saved
many lives. After the technological advancement the doctors and health care professionals are
able to give accurate treatment to their clients and patients. In past years the medical process
has been highly impacted by the information technology.
Introduction of electronic health records replacing the old way of collecting the data and
information of patients. It has been observed that the nurses and medical staff take proper care
of patients and record their private information accurately. Information technology is really
helpful for scheduling appointments, updating patient records with diagnostic codes, and
submitting medical claims (Weaver et al., 2016). This report will be evaluating the positive and
negative impact of information technology on the health care sector.

LITERATURE REVIEW
According to Albert (2016) Health sector is one the most essential sector in the economy which
is really helpful for the development and growth of the nation. There are different policies and
standards followed by the health care organizations. In past years the use of information
technology has increased which is really beneficial for the health care organizations (Almajali et
al., 2016). There are different kinds of equipment which are used by the health professionals to
give best treatment to their patients. It can be said that the information technology has saved
lives of many peoples and it is also helpful in taking the blessings of their family members. The
health care sector has been developed a lot in the developed countries like UK. The health
professionals has adopted the innovative change management and emerging techniques for the
growth and development. The cloud computing technology has been used by the health care
organization which is really helpful in storing the data properly. Apart from this the patients and
health professionals are able to assess it at any certain situation.
Martin (2017) states that there are different types of mobile health apps are available which are
really helpful in giving different knowledge to the patients. This is also helpful in enhancing the
health awareness in peoples by which they can take care of them self. It has been observed that
the patients can communicate their problems and health issues with the health professionals
on these health apps (Ben-Assuli, 2015). There are some examples of health mobile apps like
woman’s health, fitness and weight loss, mental health, personal health records, medical
reference, medication management and others. Apart from this, the health information tools
include computers, clinical guidelines, formal medical terminologies, and information and
communication systems. It is adopted by the different areas of health sector like clinical care,
pharmacy, public health care centers, nursing, and medical research (Wang et al., 2015).
According to Costa and Mendonça, (2018) Productivity of health care organization has been
impacted positively after the advancement of information technology. Hospitals began
investing in health IT due to the increasing level of competition. Initially the information
technology has been used by the health care organizations to manage the data, billing and

financial services. There after the role of it has been increased in managing the pharmacy,
laboratory, and other health care services (Al-Hawary, 2015). There are different types of
strategies used by the health care organizations to enhance their productivity and growth.
Health care is the most important sector which is helpful in the economic development of a
nation. There are some negative points of the advancement of information technology like
every people cannot afford the high cost treatment. Every person has their different financial
conditions which impact their treatment. The health care organization should provide some
cost effective treatment which can be affordable by middle class people as well.
Al-Hawary (2015) depicts that the information technology impacts the health care sector
negatively and positively. Sometimes it gives magical result in the field of medical and
sometimes it is really harmful for peoples. This is really helpful in enhancing the communication
between peoples. The patients can communicate with the health professionals and tell them
their health issues and problems. There are many options available like Email, phone, SMS, or
using verbal or nonverbal communication. Health care experts can communicate with each
other in different way with the help of information technology which will be really helpful for
providing best treatment to the patient. It is also helpful in understanding the actual problem of
the patient so that the health care organization can provide the accurate treatment and
facilities according to their needs (Kudyba et al., 2018).

METHODOLOGY
In this research we are using secondary research method by collecting the data and research
papers of the researchers. This will be helpful in gaining the accurate information about the
topic by which we can get the knowledge about information technology and its impact on the
health care organizations (Nasi et al., 2015). The articles and journals of the researcher will be
really useful in analyzing the old data which can be used for this research. The main aim of
choosing secondary research is to gain accurate knowledge about the research topic. It has
been analyzed by many researchers that the information technology has been really beneficial
for the health care sector and it is also helpful for the development and growth of the economy
of the nation as well. The communication and information technology has many benefits for the
health care organization by which the health care providers can give best treatment to the
patients according to their needs (Costa and Mendonça, 2018). The impact of IT on health care
sector is one of the most crucial topics which have been researched by many researchers. The
qualitative research methodology has been adopted to gather the accurate results from this
research. The qualitative research methods relay on meanings, concepts, definition and
description of things accurately which will be really helpful in gathering the accurate data from
the research (Adomah-Afari and Maloreh-Nyamekye, 2018). The qualitative research method is
appropriate to know the depth knowledge about any specific topic. By secondary research we
have analyzed the impact of information technology on the health care organizations. It has
been investigated that the information technology positively impact the health care settings
and with the use of information technology the health care professionals can communicate
with their patients and team members easily. It will be helpful in providing accurate treatment
to the patients according to their needs. The research papers are really helpful in gaining the
knowledge about the topic which can be helpful for the further actions. This data is reliable and
gained by the professionals which can be really helpful for this research. It has been analyzed
that the secondary research is the most appropriate research method to analyze the health
care topic. There are many researchers who have already researched and investigated this topic
which will be helpful for the further studies (Burns and Johnson, 2015).

DISCUSSIONS ON THE DATA
The discussion is really helpful in analyzing the findings which we have gained from the
research. The literature review is really helpful in gaining the knowledge abbot the research
topic (Manogaran et al., 2017). Discussion is helpful in analyzing the findings of the research
accurately. It has been observed that the use of information technology is increasing day by
day and the health care organizations are using IT in their daily operations which are really
helpful for their growth and success. In this research, the secondary research method has been
used by the researcher which is helpful in learning the previous research papers. In past years
the use of information technology has increased which is really beneficial for the health care
organizations. There are different kinds of equipment which are used by the health
professionals to give best treatment to their patients (Haute et al., 2016). It can be said that the
information technology has saved lives of many peoples and it is also helpful in taking the
blessings of their family members. There are different tools and techniques are available by
which the health care providers use information technology in the health care setting. It has
been analyzed that the communication has been enhanced after the advancement of the
information technology which is really helpful in enhancing the level of understanding between
the health care providers. The service users can convey their massage easily by which they can
get accurate treatment according to their needs. It has been found in the research that the
information technology is really beneficial for the growth and development of the health care
organization in the industry (Jakovljevic et al., 2016). By using the information technology in
appropriate way the health care unit can enhance their productivity and profit easily.

FINDINGS
The information technology is really beneficial for the growth and development of the health
care organization (Martin, 2017). There are many advantages taken by the patients and health
care professionals after the advancement of information technology in the health care sector.
The research analyzed that the use of information technology in the health care organization
can improve their productivity and enhances the level of services. There are different benefits
packages which can be provided by the doctors in order to give advantages to their patients. It
will be helpful in gaining their trust and loyalty. It has been found form the research papers of
researchers that the information technology has enhanced the level of health care
organizations from the past years. The patients are getting the solution of their problems and
treatments according to their needs which is really helpful for their health (Weaver et al.,
2016). Apart from this, the information technology is also helpful in enhancing the health
awareness among the people. There are many health mobile apps are available by which they
can consult their doctors online. Social media is also one of the most effective medium by which
they can connect with their doctors easily. There are many facilities provided by the health care
organizations to the patients and which is only possible because of the information technology.
Moreover, the qualitative approach has been used in the research which is really helpful in
gaining the accurate data for the topic. Hospitals began investing in health IT due to the
increasing level of competition. Initially the information technology has been used by the health
care organizations to manage the data, billing and financial services. There after the role of it
has been increased in managing the pharmacy, laboratory, and other health care services
(Jakovljevic et al., 2016). The information technology is also helpful in enhancing the healthy
relations between the health care professionals, employees and patients by which they can
maintain peaceful environment at the workplace.

REFLECTIONS ON YOUR OWN LEARNING DURING RESEARCH
I have analyzed while research that the information technology has become the basic need for
the lives of peoples. There is an essential value of information technology in the field of health
care sector which is really helpful for providing best treatment to the patients according to their
needs. It is also helpful in enhancing the communication level in the organization by which they
can solve the difficulties easily. I tried to learn and understand the tools and techniques which
have been used by the health professionals to use information technology in their daily
operations. I have learned so many things while research which will be helpful for my career
growth. Apart from this, I have analyzed that the patients and health professionals can
communicate very easily with the help of information technology which is really helpful in
solving their health issues easily. I realized that I can improve my communication and
interaction power by learning and using the information technology in my practices. Moreover,
the patients can give their feedbacks to the doctors according to their experiences and the
treatment they get from the health care unit. It will be really helpful for the health care
professionals to improve or maintain their performances accordingly. Lastly, I can say that the
information technology is really very useful for the health care sector.
