Change management in health care:
The case study represents leadership complexities in the health care sectors where each
member of the medical staff committee received training on ethics consultations for changing the
interpersonal qualities.
First case:
The ethical consultants were advised to remove the social workers from the committee
and replace it with the case manager who has no idea about the ethics committee. In the current
context, the driving force is the recruitment of the case management manager which is crucial for
restructuring the interpersonal quality of the patient and staffs. The duty of the manager is to
assess, plan, implement and monitoring as well as evaluating the actions required meeting the
client’s health (Doppelt, 2017). In this case, against force is to recruit a case manager who had
no experience of the ethical committee by replacing it with three social works who have
experience of ethical consultation due to training (Hayes, 2018). It may become obstacles to
bring changes and improve quality.
Second case:
Due to the elimination of three social workers immediate response was observed from all
of the committee members especially from the medical staffs about the separation of the power.
In the current context, the driving force is the replacement of the case management for improving
the interpersonal qualities of patient and staff complexities (Doppelt, 2017). Against force is a
separation of power (Hayes, 2018). The separation of power is a model for the government of the
state where each separate branch would be independent power will not conflict with each other

(Gostin, & Wiley, 2016). In this case, since social workers have experience of the ethical
committee, they collaborate with the medical officers to modernize the structure of the firm.
In the current context of two cases, as an administrator, I would handle this situation by
keeping the social workers in the committee to strengthen the committee. At least most
experienced social worker in the committee to improve the interpersonal quality and I would
recruit in other sectors of patient-centric care. I would also recruit the case manager and provide
training to her for ethical consultations and appoint the social workers to guide her in gaining the
knowledge of ethical activities.
Change implementation:
Lewin’s change management practice can be implemented in this case where three
components would be involved. The first component is "unfreeze" where preparing the
organization for the change by pointing out the structural flaws of the organization such as poor
patient outcome, poor financial result, and poor patient satisfaction. Once all of the members
would be prepared, the second component, "change" would be implemented such as keep both
case manager and social worker in the committee one for experience and one for potentials
(Booth, 2015). When changes would be accepted by all of the members, the third component
such as refreeze would be implemented where all of the members would practice the change on
the daily basis. It would enhance the organization by acknowledging the potentials of every
member.
