DESIGN ORGANIZATION 2
Introduction
Healthcare organization is a type of business or more like a company which provides
medical assistance and services to the people who are suffering from disease or any disorder
(Hilaris Publisher, 2020). Healthcare organization includes general hospital, multispecialty
hospital, dental clinics, physiotherapy centers, rehabilitation center, mental therapy centers. It
involves various professionals such as physician, surgeon, dentists, nurses and medical
laboratory technician. Majorly all these organizations are privately owned or run by trust.
There are several organizations that are government funded and subsidized which provides
medical facilities at a very low cost or sometime for free to the patients who cannot bear the
expensive treatments. Immediate and timely facilities for the rural people have always been a
matter of concern as it results in high mortality rate among all age groups. Hence, to bring out
some changes for the betterment of society, this report presents the design of the healthcare
organization which is based on all the learnings related to healthcare and its management.
Handling of the hospital administration learning is being implemented while designing the
portfolio. Moreover, the situational dilemmas have also been resolved in this report which
usually arises in an organization (RHI Hub, 2018).
Details about Organization
As discussed, the healthcare organization that need to be designed is going to be a
remote rural health clinic. The clinic will be established in rural area where health facilities
and quick medical assistance is inaccessible (RHI Hub, 2019). With an objective to provide
best of medical services and amenities to rural people this idea is being implemented. The
healthcare clinic is named as “Swift Healthcare Hospital”, with the aim to provide treatment
which is well-timed and inexpensive. This project will surely decrease the death rate in rural

areas as it takes hours to meet medical requirements available exclusively in adjoining city or
urban area.
There are several barriers which rural residents face when in need of medical
treatment. It involves finances, as they are unable to pay the hefty amount of medical bills.
Transportation Another factor is means of transport as, these remotely located villages have
barely any transportation facility. Illiteracy is another factor as rural resident are not well
literate or aware about many deadly diseases which requires proper treatment. This lack of
knowledge leads to severe consequences (RHI Hub, 2019).
Organizational Chart
The structural organization of the hospital includes different levels and sublevels.
Each and every department involves further subcategories which make it easier to
understand. At the top most level of hierarchy is the CEO or the Director of the hospital who
is the founder of the organization, one who established it as well as made investment in the
company and manages the profit and funding of the organization. Administration department
supervises the whole organization. They oversee the finances, delivery, operations that are
carried out in the hospital, and human resource department. It includes department managers,
Senior managers and Executive assistants. Information Service department is further divided
into three subcategories. Admission and Billing department handles the billing and admission
process of the patients. Their main work is to manage hassle-free enrolment of patients and to
get their basic personal information for record keeping. It also manages the billing part where
the fees of the medical assistance provided is being paid. Human Resource Department
manages the hiring of the employee or staff for the hospital and also handles their salary,
work leaves and other organizational benefits and campaigns. Diagnostic and Therapeutic
areas as it takes hours to meet medical requirements available exclusively in adjoining city or

of the patients by medical professionals and nurses. This department covers in-house medical
diagnostic laboratory where several tests such as blood test, urine test, stool test and other
tests are carried out by laboratory technician. Further, clinical treatment based on the test
results by physician is carried out who diagnose the patient and provides treatment for the
same. Pharmacy includes the dispense of the medicines required post diagnosis of the disease
and treatment which is prescribed by physician, surgeon or any medical practitioner. Support
Service provides support required by the patients and the hospital. It involves housekeeping
and maintenance which involves the cleanliness work to maintain the sanitation and hygiene
in the hospital (Quia, 2020).
Apart from these major categories there are several others such as security which will
help in avoiding and safeguarding the patients and the employee from any unwanted clash.
Driver for the transportation of goods or staff and emergency purpose such as ambulance for
emergency purposes. Special team for awareness and campaign will also be introduced into
the system, which will create the awareness among the people (Significance of organizational

Describe yourself as a Head
Being the Director of the hospital, efficient management and leadership at workplace
is crucial. It is taken care by Director single handedly. Director itself is a leader in
themselves. There are several traits that a leader in disguise of Director must possess such as,
the leadership quality possessed by Director is strategic and structured. They work on the
calculated risks and profits which is the most essential trait that covers maximum of the
progress factors. They know what works best for organization’s profit (Sandilands, 2020).
Similarly, they are required to focus on the managerial aspect of the organization as well. For
instance, in hospital managing the clinical department, finance department, laboratory and
other specific domains. As a leader, several leadership related skills will be enhanced while
playing the role of the same. Decision making skills will enhanced. Leaders are quick and
calculative in their decisions which makes them learn and grow in every aspect of work.
Resilient attitude is developed towards work and goal. Communication skills with influencing
impact on others is enhanced (MacArthur, 2019). A leader has the caliber to take the risks
while making each and every decision. Performance management is to be handle by the
leader to make organization reach the target in the limited time period. Handling the hospital

which involves high level of responsibility and requires high level of productive and efficient
work.
Strategies to empower Staff
Empowering employees and staff of the organization is crucial as it creates a sense of
trust, honesty and cooperation among leaders and employees. Empowerment is defined as the
freedom given to the staff by the senior authorities to take constructive decisions and
implementing them parallel with keeping organizational goals in mind (Daisyme, 2015).
Empowering employee results in growth of the business as it each and every member of the
company seeks to achieve same targets. Hence, make it more effective and coordinated.
There are several strategies that should be inculcated within the system to empower. Junior
level employee or staff personnel are often burdened by the dull or tough work by their
seniors. This should not be adopted instead work according to their capabilities should be
assigned, which will in turn boost the trust and understanding between juniors and their
seniors. Expectations and demands from the employees must be clearly laid ahead of them,
which would limit out the misunderstandings and cold-clashes (Kasanoff, 2016). Employees
must be provided with enough freedom take decision and to act upon them with well-defined
boundaries to make sure that it aligns with the targets set by the organization. Employees
must be given the freedom to choose their way of learning and managing the work and the
seniors must understand and accept it. Necessary resources must be provided to the
employees for efficient and productive workflow. Lack of resources can become a
demotivating factor for employees and can thus, results in stagnancy. Efforts and hard work
of the employee must be well recognized which will work as motivating factor among them.
Leave and work relaxation should be given to the staff whenever in need as it will increase
and boost their productivity (Bosworth, 2016). Lucrative incentives and bonus policies
should be implemented, which work as motivating factor. In this case of rural hospital,

work.

employees and doctors must be provided with accommodation in the hospital premises with
well updated amenities, as it will be quite difficult for the urban population to work in
remotely situated rural areas (Improving Health Care Access: Grantmakers share their
experiences, 2006). This will increase the certainty of there adherence with the organization
and would help the organization to meet its goal (Bosworth, 2016).
Example of a Team
Team building is an important aspect that needs to be taken care while planning and
managing it. It should be flexible and adaptive (Jackson, Speedy, & Daly , 2004). Since, the
organization is focused on providing quick medical assistance to the patients in need. Hence,
the most important team would be managing team, who would regularly keep check on the
demand and supply of medicines, instruments and other medical aid facilities. It can be
observed around that there are several healthcare centers and hospitals that are remotely
located in rural area and have bene opened by trustees or the government or private owned
with a mission to provide best of services. But after sometimes they lack in fulfilling the
demand. Maintenance of the resources, medicines and medical instruments in rural area is
very difficult (National Advisory Committee, 2013). Hence, to overcome this kind of
situation, equal focus would be given to availability of supplies as the hospital is going to be
way far from the city.
Nursing staff would play a major role in meeting the medical needs by patients. As
post therapeutic treatment, primary care is provided by nurses which is very important for the
patient to recover. Skillful and well learned nurses would be hired for the hospital, to provide
people with effective care (Jackson, Speedy, & Daly , 2004).
Further, adding more focus points, special benefits and incentives will be provided to
medical professional and other employees in the hospital since working in a remote village is

difficult for the urban population. These benefits include free housing facilities in the hospital
premises and transportation facilities. These benefits will motivate them to provide best of
what they can offer to the residents as well as to the hospital. Regular campaigns and
seminars will be organized to make people aware about common diseases and prevention
measures. Telehealth will be introduced in the system, so to maintain the undisturbed
communication and instant query resolution from the people (RHI Hub, 2020). These
targeted plans and actions can help the rural population to great extent (Oyeka, Ullrich,
Lupica , Mueller, & Mackinney, 2018).
Maintenance of medicine and pharmacy in the rural is challenging task, so in-house
pharmacy will be set up in the hospital with all kind of basic and generic medicines. These
medicines will be provided to people at very nominal charges. Medicines are the basic
requirement and the immediate therapeutic method. Collaboration with government as
stakeholder could be beneficial as it will help in subsidizing the medical bills. Well
specialized pediatric and gynecologist department is also essential, as children in rural area
are more prone to infectious diseases. Iron deficiency anemia is highly common among them
due to malnutrition. This causes high mortality rate among children (Foundations’ Efforts To
Improve Rural Health Care, 2017).
Resolving heated debate
An organization have multiple employee and everyone possess different opinions and
beliefs and this leads to arise in conflicts. Conflict is unavoidable in any organization.
Agreement and disagreement on any topic or proposal is predictable and natural but when
this results in heated debate, it becomes matter of concern and need to be handled to avoid
further clashes (Wilkins, 2005). There are five major strategies that can be applied to resolve
heated debate such as accommodation, avoidance, competition, compromise and
collaboration. Accommodation strategy is generally applied to preserve relations with others
difficult for the urban population. These benefits include free housing facilities in the hospital

as it is more like lose-win strategy where the initiator loses and other wins. It depicts that to
avoid any further clash or cold war with your friends or close and dear ones, individual must
give up on the debated argument which makes the opponent to win. Avoidance strategy is
termed as lose-lose strategy where both the debating parties loses as it involves backing away
without resolving the issue. It increases the feeling of distrust between them and may trigger
the sense of hatred at back of their mind. Competition clearly states win-lose strategy and is
applied when the person does not want to disagree instead can bend the conflict towards
competitive strategy. Compromise is either lose-win or win-lose type of strategy. It is highly
effective for temporary settlement but cannot be claimed as permanent solution.
Collaboration is termed as win-win strategy. It benefits both the parties as both of them
agrees on maintaining give and take relation. It can be considered as the permanent solution
(Nursing: The Peer-Reviewed Journal of Clinical Excellence, 2006). These strategies can be
implemented to resolve the disputes and intense debates.
The case of heated debate between nurses as given in the case, should be handled
carefully at its initial level as it will create a base for future conflict resolving strategies. Both
parties must be heard carefully and to ensure the healthy bond without any complaints,
decision in favor of both the parties must be taken. The most honest and clear decision in
favor of both the debating parties would leave a mark of goodwill in their minds and can
create a sense of responsibility and adherence towards the organization (MacArthur, 2019).
Since the organization has just started and managing everything is a huge task and would take
several trial and error methods to check what works best for the organization. Therefore, the
debate related to the supplies is totally considerable and obvious but need to be resolved and
must be quickly fixed to create hassle-free management for lined up supply deliveries.

Conclusion
Lack of healthcare centers and hospitals in rural areas should be taken seriously.
Talking about any state or country of the world, remote rural area is deprived of the medical
facilities and they face huge crisis. The emergency cases mostly result in death of the patients
as they do not have access to timely medical treatment. Hence, in case of emergency these
delays sometimes result in death of the critical patients.
Poverty and lack of communication and transport facilities are the major factors that
make them deprived of the medical emergence. It takes hours of travel to reach the
neighboring city or urban area for treatment. Hence, keeping this major issue in mind,
medical health center is being designed that would set up in the remote rural area, where they
have no means or ways to reach hospital. This project of the hospital set up in the rural area
would bring lots of job opportunities for the unemployed population within the area. It will
further motivate the young and children to pursue and achieve their higher education in
medical field which will in turn would make country to grow. This design fulfils the basic
requirements and facilities, apart from basic therapeutic screening, this design also focuses on
the two main departments with specialization as gynecologist and pediatrics to provide
immediate assistance to women and children.
