Part 1
a. As per Hecht et al. (2015), it is important for the healthcare facility to access or
calculate the Length of Stay (LOS) of every patient so that through these
calculations the hospital authority could manage utilization of resources and
develop a financial report (Engelhardt et al., 2018).
b. The impact of LOS helps the healthcare facility to understand the type of quality
and care are provided to the patients while their stay in the healthcare facility. It
also impacts the number of inward patients as with increased number of stay of
existing patients, the arrival of new patients reduced (Oh, Zheng & Bardhan,
2018).
c. The most important recommendation to reduce the length of stay would be
developing technologies so that they could develop abilities to provide effective
care to patients (Hecht et al., 2015).
Part 2
a. While examining the leading causes of death as mentioned in the CDC website, it
was found that heart diseases are the primary reason due to which the rate of
mortality increases. Cancer and accidents are the second and third major reason of
deaths in United States of America (CDC, 2019).
b. In a report published in USA Today (2018) by John Bacon, it was mentioned that
rate of suicide and drug consumption is increasing in USA steadily due to which
in 2017, the number of death due to these conditions broke the record of last 100
years. This study was important to discuss as more than 2.7 million died in USA
in 2017, due to drug overdose and suicide and hence, it should also be given some

importance so that healthcare facilities could focus in these aspects for effective
care.
