On the basis of the objective data of Mr. C, the BMI can be calculated to be 45.1 which
states that Mr. C is acutely obese. In addition to this, the blood pressure is also elevated and the
client is suffering from Diabetes in relation to the recorded blood glucose level during fasting.
Therefore, it can be mentioned that because of the high blood pressure and the high cholesterol
level, the client is susceptible to suffer from a stroke and can even develop serious cardiovascular
disorder including coronary blockage. In addition to this, the client is also susceptible to renal
failure, gallbladder disease, pancreatic cancer, Gout and even Osteoarthritis (Ahima & Lazar,
2013). The primary intervention goal for the patient would include weight loss.
In this regard, it can be said that opting for the bariatric surgery could be considered
feasible for the client. The surgery is also known as the gastric bypass surgery and includes the
removal of a part of the stomach in order to shorten the length of the stomach. Studies have
proven the surgery to be extremely effective in controlling the symptoms of Diabetes II and at
the same time regulating the BMI (Angrisani et al., 2013). Further, the surgery would also help
in controlling the blood pressure of the patient and reduce the risks of a stroke and other diseases
as mentioned above.
