Commentary

 Services user can be any individual who uses services given by companies as in the context of NHS, it can
be said that services users refers patients as they take services given and provided by NHS and health care
departments. There are some protected characteristics which need to have. It includes: age, gender, religion,
race, belief and others on which basis nurse assistants and professionals need to give equal opportunities and
healthcare services to service users

Nurse assistant in NHS and healthcare department plays an important role. There are several duties, roles and
responsibilities which they play include:
 Taking care of services users and patients by taking their vital signs.
 Keeping their room clean, serving meal and dress them.
 Setting up medical equipments which are required by Doctors along with assisting some medical processes.
 Tasks of nursing assistants is not easy as they face several problems such as: due to shortage of staff they
face problems of work load, extra working hours, workplace hazards, violence, dealing with different types
of patients, bullying and harassment etc

In the context of equality act or protected characteristics, it can be said that it protects all services users or patients
or disabled people against direct as well as indirect discrimination. As per the protected characteristics or
equality act 2010, professional group like nurses, medical assistant, physicians and others have legal as well as
moral obligations towards service users and they have to play their duty of care. They are also responsible for
respect for all services users, their dignity, culture, values, and beliefs through commitment to principles.

Equality act 2010 is one of the best legislation which can protect services users especially to disabled people to
protect themselves against bullying, harassment, discrimination on the basis of their disability. All other
services users can also prevent themselves against discrimination on the basis of their race, gender, age,

There is one common recommendation which is required to suggest to physicians, nurse assistants and others
professionals in NHS is to set a fair performance standards. Setting a fair standard for healthcare allows them
to make patients feel comfortable, valued, motivated and also improve their self-esteem and morale . A fair
standard also allows professionals to improve their healthcare services and image in the eyes of services users.

field. It also allows them to decrease errors in the process of their work and improve quality of services provided
to services users. One main difficulty which they face is languages barriers and difficulties in communicating,

In the context of nurse assistant and medical assistant I can say that setting a fair standard performance plays an
important roles. There are several ways by which professionals can improve their health care services but one of
the main key of success and development of performance of professional is setting a fair standard of performance
and promoting diversity at workplace. While working with NHS and other healthcare department I found that
providing equal opportunities to all services users play an important role as it does not only prevent services
users against discrimination but also improve relation with professionals and it also allows them to cooperate
with professionals and nurses in an effective manner. It overall affects their health care services and improves
their health to the great extent
Reflection on own experience

I found that team working helped me out in increasing all those skills in which I was not good. It increased my
decision making and problem solving skills. I also found it easy to deal with critical patients and the way of
dealing with them with the help of communication and influencing skills. Maintaining an effective relation
with services users also allow professionals to be energetic and refreshed at workplace as due to workloads
they face problems but improved relationship and cooperation from services users make them feel pleased
at workplace.
I can say that working as nurse assistant and any job role in healthcare is one of the best decision because it
gives several opportunities as it allows us to deal with all type of patients, tell us different ways of solving
problems and importance of having patience at work etc
