dishwasher in Benedict’s restaurant situated in Greenwood Village, Colorado, USA for 2.5
years. He formerly employed as a miner in Newmont Goldcorp for 25.5years. He is fourth

development of his asthma. Due to his respiratory issues, he decreased his physical activity
and had to take public rides to his office.
Lifestyle as an adult
He continued to work as a minor to support his family. Then his wife died and his
children left him, so he had to do all household jobs like cooking, washing, cleaning all by
himself. At the age of 49 years he was diagnosed with bronchitis and was obligated to leave
his job. Continuous exposure to smoke and dust can lead to development of interstitial lung
disease even lung carcinoma (Khamis et al. 2019). He then had to join as a dishwasher in a
restaurant.
Current lifestyle
Derek is now all alone in his home performing his daily jobs all by himself. He has
decreased his physical activity and cannot do strenuous job because of his chronic asthma and
bronchitis. However, now, he has discontinued smoking completely. He takes his daily-
prescribed medicines and inhaler for controlling his disease. He tries to eat healthy food and
takes lot of fluids but abstains from caffeine or alcohol because of his bronchitis. Schmidt
(2017) in his study referred that managing cough related lung disorders is important to
