INTRODUCTION
Management of quality within the care environment is very necessary task to the upper
management of each healthcare organisation. According to the NHS (National Health Service),
every governing or non-governing healthcare institution within the UK responsible to provide the
best quality healthcare services to different people or patients. Currently government of the
United Kingdom is providing huge fund to its different authorised healthcare institutions and
organisations for regularly developing their quality of services. With the support of this fund of
government, top-level management within the any healthcare organisation can easily achieve an
extra-ordinary technological support (Khan, 2018). Basically, when any healthcare organisation
has an excellent technological support, then it will able to provide the best services to different
people. This is report discusses the topic based on ‘managing quality in care environment’. This
topic highly needs to be considered, because by considering this topic, any healthcare
organisation can easily develop its services. There are some key tactics and strategies also has
been discussed in this report which can contribute in developing quality in the care environment.

P1: Comparison between different statutory and legislative requirements
Healthcare sector is one of the most popular sectors within the UK, in which
organisations and institutions which are part of this sector responsible to adhere each legislation
within has passed by the local government and statutory (Leung, Yu and Memari, 2016).
Government and health ministry of the United Kingdom has provided proper instructions to
different healthcare organisations for always providing the best quality services to different
people within the country without compromising with healthcare standards. There are legislative
and statutory plays an excellent role in this country for maintain proper standards of healthcare.
According to the UK’s health and safety act, every healthcare organisation needs to some proper
steps towards regularly developing their healthcare services. In case, upper management of any
healthcare organisation not adhere this act, then healthcare ministry terminates its licence.
Reason is, healthcare ministry of the UK has given permission to run a healthcare organisation to

only those people, who completely aware about the healthcare standards and quality
management system.
Quality is very prime aspect within the health and social care sector of any country
including the United Kingdom, because healthcare support with excellent quality mostly
positively affect to any patient. This is the main reason that, government and healthcare ministry
of the UK has formulated different legislation, standards and regulations for maintaining proper
quality in the country’s healthcare environment. There are “Behavioural change model” is one of
the best approaches or theories for the health and social care sector (Stephens and et.al, 2018).
According to behavioural change model, top-level management of any health and social care
organisation has required to take steps towards changing behaviour of its different staff,
employees and healthcare professional for more developing standards and quality of health and
social care in across the country.

P2: Importance of promoting diversity, difference and inclusive practices in a care setting
There are diversity, difference and inclusive practices plays very excellent role in a care
setting, that’s why it is too important for the healthcare sector. These all aspect highly
contributes in developing the healthcare service of a country. This is the main reason that, top-
level management within different healthcare organisations should be highly considered these all
aspects within its daily operations. Basically, staff and employees of a healthcare organisations
enable it for providing the best healthcare support to different patients, no organisation can
achieve its different goals with existing staff or employees. In this situation, diversity, difference
and inclusive practices help to upper management of a healthcare organisation for developing
skills and competencies of its different employees. For example; when upper management of a
health and social care organisation provides equal growth opportunities to its staff and
employees under the diversity, then staff and employees will be felt by valued by the
management (Freeman and et.al., 2020). Finally, they will put their great efforts in the workplace,
and organisation’s quality of healthcare services will be automatically improved.

P3: Importance of safeguarding various services users
Safeguarding various services users towards improving quality in healthcare services is
very necessary task to a health and social care organisation. In this modern world, every person
expects very excellent services from a healthcare organisation. There are services users generally
also known as patients who uses different services of healthcare organisations. In this situation, a
healthcare organisation responsible to take some proper decisions towards more and more
developing own quality of services to properly safeguard any patient from any disease (Culley,
2019). Currently the UK’s health and social care services are very popular at the international
level just because of well-improved health practices. There is national health service of the
United Kingdom has given orders to different existing healthcare organisations of the country for
investing something higher in the technology implementation, because the technology
advancement within the healthcare sector always contribute in developing different healthcare
services and practices. After following these all instructions of NHS, a health and social care
organisation can easily safeguard different users of services.
There are existing management of a healthcare organisation can use various quality
control techniques also for perfectly safeguarding different users of services. For example; the
TQM (Total Quality Management) is one of the best quality control techniques. According to
this technique, management of any healthcare institution should avoid those all practices within
its daily operations which promotes poor quality of services. On the other side, every health and
social care organisation should ensure that, it has proper healthcare workforce or not. Reason is,
many times an organisation has workforce of many ineffective employees or staff, in which that
organisation can’t properly safeguard different users of services. So that, existing management of
a healthcare organisation should focus on developing skills and talent of its employees or staff as

well. These practices are very essential in the terms of systematically safeguard different patients
or service users. At the end, safeguarding will contribute in making patients fully heathy.

There are needs of stakeholders’ highly impact the care environment for improving the
quality of service provision (Carmona, 2019). Basically, patients are key stakeholder of care
environment, in which they expect very excellent healthcare services from an organisation. So,
this aspect of patients influences management authority of healthcare organisation for developing
quality of services.

There are patients or service users, their families, the community and staff etc. plays very
well role in the development and improvement quality measures within the care environment.
According to existing care environment of the United Kingdom, most staff within different
healthcare organisations and hospitals are putting their great efforts for providing quality services
to various service users and satisfaction to their families. On the other side, patients, their
facilities and the community has very exception from the care environment, so this factor
influence to healthcare professionals for providing the best and excellent quality of services.

There are lots of practices has conducted within a healthcare organisation to provide the
best services to different patients. In this situation, healthcare professionals who conducts these
all practices are highly required to make an effectiveness within each working practice. For
example; there are a health and social care organisation always required to conduct the practice
of maintaining proper hygiene within the organisation or hospital where most patients have
admitted (Healey, 2018). Proper hygiene is very compulsory for different service users, because it
contributes in providing quality service to them. On the other side, this aspect provides very
excellent experience also to these patients and service users.

In this situation, upper management within each health and social care organisation set
the proper measures of hygiene aspect within working practices. The management should give
orders of always making proper hygiene to those employees within the organisation who are
responsible to cleaning the workplace. Basically, when a healthcare organisation not maintains
proper hygiene within its workplace, then that organisation can’t provide quality healthcare
services to different service users. Upper management of a healthcare organisation should
understand this basic thing, unhygienic place always promotes lots of diseases. So that, every
healthcare organisation within the United Kingdom should take proper steps towards making
their respective workplace neat and clean to maintain the extra-ordinary standards of hygiene
within organisation. By taking these steps, healthcare organisations can easily improve their

healthcare reports and magazines, lots of organisations are still not following the proper
standards of hygiene, so this factor is negatively affecting to the UK’s healthcare sector. In this
situation, existing management of different healthcare organisation should understand the actual
value of hygiene within the healthcare sector. According to many well-educated healthcare
professionals, proper hygiene within an organisation or hospital works as a medicine for different
patients and service users. On the other side, this aspect promotes the best quality of healthcare
services, so existing management within organisations which still has not taken steps towards
maintain proper hygiene are required to take quick action for maintaining proper hygiene within
their workplace. Otherwise, NHS can terminate their licence of healthcare organisation. The
health ministry provides specific fund also to different healthcare organisation for effectively
considering hygiene aspect of working practices. So that, existing healthcare organisations of the
UK need to use various appropriate tactics towards more improving this aspect. After improving
hygiene aspect, organisations will be able improve their quality of their healthcare services as
well.

P6: A detailed plan for quality improvement initiative
A health and social care organisation need to identify different tactics and strategies for
involving them in its plan of quality improvement. Basically, a plan of quality improvement
always plays very excellent role in the terms of developing the quality of healthcare services.
While making plan, the upper management of an organisation should highly consider the concept
of operations management, because operations management provides various useful techniques
of control to all organisations, companies and businesses. Basically, these quality control
techniques are the only way to different companies for providing the best quality products to
their respective customers. So that, a health and social care organisation also can use these all
quality control techniques of operations management. For example; TQM (Total Quality
Management) and JIT (Just in Time) are two key techniques of quality control and management,
so that upper management of every healthcare organisation should adopt and implement these
techniques within their daily operations (de Menezes and Escrig, 2019). On the other side, the
management should provide some productive sessions of training and development to its
employees and staff. Basically, by getting appropriate training and development sessions,
employees and staff can be enabled to develop their performance and productivity. In this
situation, when an organisation has lots of high performing employees and staff, then it will be
able to effectively develop quality of healthcare services.
P7: Potential barriers to complete the quality improvement initiative
There are lots of barriers always exists within the work environment of a healthcare
organisation. Basically, these all barriers negatively affect to the quality improvement initiative
of an organisation, so that upper management of that organisations should always make some
appropriate decisions towards systematically deal with these all barriers. For example; there poor
communication between employer and employees or staff is one of the biggest barriers to quality

improvement process. So that, people within a healthcare organisation should take different steps
towards developing communication skills of all people in the workplace. After having well-
developed communication skills, the management will be able to easily improve its quality of
services (Macfarlane, AbouZahr and Tangcharoensathien, 2019). On the other side, there are poor
leadership and lack of resources also two big barriers to complete the improvement of quality. So
that, upper management organisation should take decisions towards dealing with barriers as well.
CONCLUSION
It can be concluded that top-level management within each healthcare organisation of the
United Kingdom needs to be very active in its existing job role for gaining very appropriate
outcomes. There is quality improvement of different healthcare services is one of the major tasks
to a health and social care organisation, so the existing management should adopt and implement
different techniques, tactics and strategies of quality control for effectively improving the quality
of care environment. These all steps should highly need to be considered by the upper
management of any health and social care organisation for making the UK’s healthcare sector
well prosper.
