1DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
The U.S Healthcare System provides health insurance to peoples in the form of Medicare and Medicaid service;
however, not everyone is eligible to use those services(Beck et al, 2019). Cost of healthcare is high in the
United States, leading to reduced sustainability of the healthcare program.
The health insurance policies allow patients to get quality healthcare service by paying a small annual premium
which lessens the pressure in case of medical emergencies and ensures hassle-free patient experience.
To resolve this, the Affordable Care Act was implemented in 2019(Hu et al, 2018), for making health insurance
more affordable to people by Medicaid expansion. This lead to a significant improvement, better access and
utilization of health services by the previously uninsured people.
Affordable Care Act was able to reshape private insurance companies by establishing new federal consumer
protection and prohibiting the insurers from discrimination, regarding their health status.
