AI Summary
This report provides a comprehensive analysis of the NewAccess project, a digital healthcare initiative aimed at improving mental healthcare for young patients. The project addresses the problem of patients having to repeatedly recount their medical history to different healthcare providers. The proposed system stores patient information securely from the initial consultation, granting authorized doctors access to their medical history and prescribed medications. This eliminates the need for repetitive storytelling, reduces patient discomfort, and enables doctors to provide more accurate and timely care. The report highlights the system's capabilities, including secure data storage and patient-controlled access, and discusses the significant benefits for both patients and healthcare professionals. The NewAccess project promises to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of mental healthcare delivery.

SYSTEM ANALYSIS AND DESIGN
Introduction
Digital healthcare system has become an important need of recent times as it helps in
effective management of patients’ health. NewAccess is a similar project that targets the
mentally ill patients. Headspace is an organization that is interested in this new approach and a
project of developing NewAccess. Mental illness is often observed in youth of aged 17 to 25and
even in people as young as that of 12. The problem mainly arises as the young patients find it
really monotonous to re tell their story every time they visit a new healthcare practitioner. In
order to deal with the problem, a system is proposed that will ensure store the story of the young
patients at the first time it is being told so that the patients need not have to narrate their story
once again while visiting a different doctor (Coorevits et al., 2013). The problem, capabilities
and the benefits of this proposed project is elaborated in the following sections.
1. Problem
The problem is that the young patients who are suffering from the problem of mental
illness might find it difficult or boring to repeat their problem to the doctors every time they visit
to the a new doctor. It is normal for such patients to visit a series of doctors before getting the
required medical help. One patient might have to visit a caseworker of Headspace, staffs of
hospital emergency a general practitioner or a psychiatrist. While they are seeing a series of
doctors in a short span of time, they always need to re tell their problems and the medication
details to the doctors. It is observed that in the process of retelling the story, the patients often
clam up and tend to say a very little about their problems. This makes it difficult for the doctors
to understand their problems and offer them correct medications. As a result of this, the patients
may not always get the appropriate medication that they need. This is a huge problem in terms of

the increasing number of patients who need medical help but tend to say a very little about their
problem.
To deal with this problem, a project is proposed which will store the story of the patients
on the very first time it is being told (Hsiao et al., 2013). This will eliminate the problem of re
telling the problems to the doctors every time the patients visit them (Pathak, Kho & Denny,
2013). The story of the patients will be stored in the system and the doctors will have an access
to the same. The benefits and the capabilities of the system are elaborated in the sections below.
2. Capabilities
The NewAccess project and the system to be developed can eliminate the problems faced
by the young patients. The system will be designed in such a way that the problems of the
patients as narrated by them will be stored in the system for the very first time it is being told.
The doctors, whom the patients visit in due course will have an access to the system and through
the system, they will get to know the problems of the young patients thus eliminating the need of
narrating the problems to the doctors again and again.
The system can further store the details of the medications that are prescribed by the
doctors so that even if the patient visits a new doctor in due course, the doctor will have an
access to the medication history of the patient (Leventhal et al., 2015). The patient can control
whom to give the access to the system so that the confidentiality of the data is maintained
(Rodrigues et al., 2013). The benefit of the system is evaluated in the following section.
3. Benefits
The advantages and benefits of the NewAccess system is discussed below-

SYSTEM ANALYSIS AND DESIGN
1. The system will be a great help for the patients and for the doctors as well as doctor
will be able to accurately understand the problem of the patient and will be able to recommend
correct medication as well (Moja et al., 2014).
2. Since the system will be secure, the patients can easily store that medication details on
the system thus eliminating the need of maintaining a manual record.
Conclusion
The report elaborates the problems that are experienced by the young patients and
proposes a solution to eliminate the problem. The NewAccess project will develop a system that
will reduce the need of re narrating the health problems to the doctors as it will store the same in
the very first time it is being told. The problem, benefits and the capabilities of the system is
presented in the report.
