Effectiveness of health care teams
Accordingly to Cunningham. and McAuliffe, 2018, team effectiveness is related to
obtaining positive results. The view point of stakeholder and team member is different to
judge its effectiveness. This is because it is viewed differently by patient, management, etc.
In this patient satisfaction is important as it allows in getting effective care services. Thus,
patient satisfaction shows effectiveness of team. It directly impact on their performance.
Moreover, there may occur certain variations to define team work. There are certain
indicators of team work that are organisational, team, patient benefits, etc. thus, on basis of
these team effectiveness is defined. These all are also predictors of team effectiveness.
However, Hackman model of group effectiveness is used in it. The model contains of 5
criteria which are
Real team- it means define of clear team roles and rights that are specified within it.

Compelling direction- it state whether team is having clear goals.
Enable structure- it shows there is proper defined structure and flow of work
Support- it shows resources and support is equally collaborated.
Expert- this means high quality training and mentoring of team member. Hence, it makes
easy to define team effectiveness.
Team work in health care
As said by O’Reilly, and MacFarlane, 2017 team work is necessary in health care centre.
This is because it helps in effective communication. They both go in hand to hand. Any
failure in communication leads to team work failure. However, there is need to provide
effective care to patient. The teamwork and communication challenges in health care
manifest the problem of coordination neglect in organizational systems. The managing
complex work usually involves breaking it into tasks and delegating components of the work.
The objective of effective team is clear. They work in the direction to achieve common goal.
Other than this, atmosphere of effective is free, as they are tension free. Because they clear
goals and planning accordingly. The members of effective team enjoy working with each
other. They respect each other views and ideas. Effective team members actively participate
in decision making and all the other activities willingly. That help the leaders to make
effective strategies and planning to achieve target.
It can be summarised that in health care sector team effectiveness is defined with
help of certain criteria. This include patient satisfaction, communication, management etc.
besides, it is necessary to work in team in health sector so that goals are attained. However,
there are many models by which team effectiveness is measured. The use of model depends
on different components as there are various criteria used in it. Furthermore, it is evaluated
that in team work communication is highly important. This is because it helps in quick
sharing of data and info with other members and working together. Moreover,
communication also helps in showing how effective team work is. Thus, if it fails then there
is no effective team work.
In addition, there are different models and theories by which team is formed. They are
tuckman, Belbin, etc. (Rosen . and Weaver, 2018) In tuckman there are 5 stages in it that are

available resources. Data collection is a process in which information is used from other
related sources to search answers of problems and examine the results. It can be divided

and info is obtained from it. Thus, for present study, both primary and secondary data
collection methods will be used.
Research methods- there are two common methods used that is quantitative and
qualitative. Quantitative methods are mainly supported by formats or mathematical
calculations. It includes questionnaire, interviews, surveys, focus groups, etc. In
interviews, direct questioning is there from the interviewer to the respondent. In focus
groups, a group of people is targeted whose issues are concerned. Whereas in qualitative

it is entirely based on theoretical as facts and figures are analysed to obtain precise info.
For present study qualitative research method will be used in it.
-Discuss the data collection method/tools
Qualitative methods- There are several qualitative tools such as interview, observation, etc.
which is used in collection of data. Interview means to do face to face interaction to gather
data in depth. In focus group there is limited participants in it. and in observation data is
collected by observing. Thus in present research interview will be taken of nurse.
Quantitative Method- similarly, in quantitative as well there are various tools. In
questionnaire many questions are asked related to topic. This is done through survey. In
telephone survey questions are asked on telephone.
- Discuss the use of Excel in data analysis and presentation of data
In excel other calculations are done to interpret data. Here, sorting is done to
arrange data in ascending and descending order (Strumpf, and Tousignant, 2017). Also,
the filter function is applied to collect only relevant data that is based on certain criteria.
It is highly useful in finding out results.
5. Ethical Issues

There is need to maintain ethics in doing research. This is done to ensure data
confidentiality, privacy, etc. is maintained. Thus, scholar will follow several ethics in it. So,
first of all, the consent of people has been taken who are involved in research. Also, each
individual dignity was maintained and they were respected and treated in an equal manner.
Alongside it, data collected and results obtained have been protected and secured in
database. They are not shared with any other business or person. Moreover, while gathering
data, people were allowed to skip questions if they do not want to answer so that their
views and opinions can be openly taken. The data will be stored in server and its
