(IHI). It describes an approach to optimizing the performance of the healthcare system. IHI
belief that the innovative designs must be developed in order to simultaneously persue three
different dimensions that is popularly known as triple aim. The triple aim mainly constitute

Rationale behind Triple Aim
Under the US healthcare system, the 17% of the gross domestic product will grow to
20% amounting to the increase in the overall healthcare cost by the end of 2020. Moreover
with the increase in the percentage of the ageing population the overall expenditure of the
healthcare will increase further creating a global challenge in order to avail the healthcare
system. Thus in order to reduce the overall healthcare costs and to increase the overall
healthcare access, the application of triple aim is important (Whittington et al., 2015).
Triple Aim approach
Achievement of the Triple Aim will be crucial in order promote overall success of the
healthcare organizations and the healthcare approach that are moving towards the value-
