CASE ANALYSIS
In this assignment, the current status of “Healthscope” company of Australia has been
elaborated to recognise its strengths and weaknesses. This will be helpful to beat other
competitors by providing effective services to the users.
This company is a public organisation which provides effective health care services such
as private hospitals, medical centres and international pathology. Its headquarters are located in
Melbourne. Many medical and surgical hospitals are operated under it. Some psychiatric and
rehabilitation clinics are also the part of this organisation.
It operates forty-six private hospitals in Australia along with seven mental health
facilities, six rehabilitation centres and other care facilities. Establishment of fourteen hospitals
for mental health care facilities has made it the largest operator for treatment of alcohols, drugs
and other mental issues (Pandya, 2017). It also helps to heal the people with mood and anxiety
disorder, eating disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, personality disorder, psychosis obsessive
disorder, postnatal depression, etc. Moreover, it provides appropriate accommodation and care
services to the individuals having disabilities.
It also delivers extra home care for the patients who are in need. People can opt long
term, short term, transitional and respite care as per their requirement. Their stocks are traded on
Australian Stock Exchange. Its mission is to globalise the organisation to serve more and more
number of individuals. With the help of online medical serving facilities, the managers are
assisting in this. Its vision is to provide quality care services to the people to recover them as
soon as possible.
New and advance technologies are also adopted for the same. Appropriate recruitment of
the doctors, care workers, security, etc. is done by the managers to keep the patients and their
families satisfied. Team work and integrity are the key skills adopted by the managers to have
proper communication (Rozwadowski, 2017). Decision making is done in a balanced manner to
keep the financial security and excellence of the services at equilibrium. In this way, the
company is operating to help the community as per their need.
It is made up of flat organisational structure where there are few levels to avoid the
chances of conflicts. The topmost position is given to the Board of Directors in the hierarchy.
Below them comes the Chief Executive Officer. They have to communicate board of Directors
while taking any decision. Then comes, community and continuing care and residential services

with its executive director, psychiatric services with its executive director and associate
professor, medical services with its executive director, Chief Medical Officer for their research
governance, surgical services with its executive director, corporate services headed by CFO,
people and culture department for relationship building with its executive director, Healthscope
project with its executive director for maintaining the infrastructure and information services
with its executive director for effective communication. All other staff and care workers come
below this (Woźniak and Fill, 2018). In this way, the organisation is operating so that in case of
any confusion, assistance can be taken from the head of the department. This helps in easy flow
of work.
Its local presence can be seen from the large number of hospitals operating in the territory
of Australia. From this, we can say that the organisation is serving the regional people
effectively. Along with the care facilities in Australia, it also operates many international
pathology centres in New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia. It has earned high revenue while
serving on the international platform. In this way, we can say that the organisation has put strong
efforts to stand out in front of the community.
To ameliorate its performance, SWOT analysis is done which depicts the strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities and strengths of the organisation. The report is elaborated below.
Strength: The international serving capacity is its strength. This helps to connect with
more number of people. Large number of hospitals, dedicated mental health hospitals and
rehabilitation facilities serves as a favour. It also has a provision of testing services for
the comfortability of the patients. The quality and innovate care services provided by the
managers helps to attract more number of individuals. Management department has to
take suitable steps to enhance such kinds of facilities to globalise its presence.
Weaknesses: Though it provides strong services for the individuals but due to its
competitors, it has limited market share. This is serving as a disadvantage for the
company. One has to take steps to increase such kind of significance by offering several
schemes to the stakeholders (Muller, 2017). Government regulations and the policies also
affect the operational capacity of the organisation. One has to frame rules and regulations
as per the laws and regulations made by the government to serve in the best possible
manner. Steps have to be taken according to it. The government has a right to intervene

the organisation in case, if it is not following the laws or policies. The managers have to
make strategy after considering all these factors.
Opportunities: Since it is covering various factors, its focus has been deteriorating. The
company has an opportunity to manage the same by recruiting enough number of
employees to manage all the hospitals efficiently. It has to work on task allocation to
serve the individuals in the best possible manner. Team working has to be emphasised for
the effective communication to treat the patient appropriately. The managers can
implement advanced and new technologies for better treatment. This is a tool to attract
more number of people. In this way, the company can abide the people with its effective
services. It has to collaborate with the health insurance services for the sake of the
individuals (Dori and Even-Zahav, 2018). Looking at this trend, more people will try to
associate with the company. It has to make healthy relationships with the associations
who are funding them to take an assistance in case of emergency. In addition, it has to be
aware about the recent health care solutions to recover the patients at a faster rate. One
can implement online services to provide the medicines to the patients while they are at
their home. Implementing all these techniques, the organisation can set a valuable image
in front of the community.
Threats: Regulations for running a hospital are major threat for the company. It has to
abide by them for its smooth running. Also, other competitors put threat in front of the
organisation. One has to recruit quality staff and other doctors for the same to provide
effective services to the patients. One should not have to worry about the investment
while implementing new technologies. Proper collaboration with the fund association can
do a favour for the managers.
In this way, we can say that the managers have to take suitable steps to curtail the things
which are serving as the weakness and to ameliorate the task which are in the favour of
organisation. Only with the help of this, the organisation can stand out in the target market.
Looking at all these trends of the current time, the company can take suitable steps to rise in the
future as a potential health care sector. To attain the target in an effective way, one has to track
other competitors to serve the best services than them. Hygienic food and other facilities have to
be provided by managers for the safety of the consumers. Healthy relationship has to be build up

to increase the confidence of the individuals. Appropriate sharing of views will help to cure the
problem in a better way. In this way, the organisation can step ahead for the success.
