Introduction
Healthy ageing refers appreciation of the environment that provides opportunity for enabling to live a
healthy and long life. As defined by World Health Organisation healthy ageing is a process entailing
development and maintenance song functional abilities which assist them in maintaining their well-being
in the older ages (Beard et al. 2016). The functional ability is a capability of individual to meet the basic
needs make decisions, have mobility, maintain and build relationships and contribute effectively towards
the society.
The perception of healthy ageing is determined by the intrinsic capacity and environmental
characteristics. The interaction between these two factors helps to achieve a healthy ageing process. The
key findings drawn from the interview is that healthy is highly dependent on mental and physical capacity
which includes mobility, decision making capacity, hearing and remembering.
The other crucial finding drawn from the study is the impact of environment which includes home
community and the society at broader level which helps in building people and their relationship along
with attitude and values. As suggested by McPhee et al. (2016), environment which provide supports and
maintains intrinsic capacity and functional ability helps in achieving a healthy ageing process which
builds satisfaction level among the ageing person.
The other important finding is amalgamation of concept of healthy ageing and active ageing emphasizing
the need for maintaining proper diet and engaging physical activities keep the body agile and mobile. This
helps in improving functional abilities among the aged people and making them less dependent on the
families giving themselves sense of dignity.
The significance related to the perception of healthy aging optimises opportunities related to good health
among the older people for living and independent and high-quality life. As highlighted by Cabeza et al.
(2018),it is essential to understand that ageing necessary does not lead to decreasing of persons ability in
making contribution to the society. Living a full and productive life adopting healthy lifestyle and staying
physically fit socializing and improving health can bring about happiness and sense of Independence. The
healthy living corresponds to healthy ageing and helps individual acquire new skills. Staying healthy and
ageing actively displays the fact that individuals are concerned about the health and taking appropriate
steps to maintain their diet and health. It also indicates that there is a growing awareness among
individuals ageing to maintain their physical and mental ability by cutting down on bad habits which
includes smoking and drinking to proceed towards the healthy living lifestyle. It is essential that ageing
individuals are engaged in mental activities investing in water and socializing with others which helps in

creating opportunities of new experiences and helps in decreasing the chances of feeling of isolation or
depression. The maintenance of social connection and continue activities helps in staying involve with
family activities and societal interaction (Lara et al. 2015).
The physical activeness is an important aspect which helps in providing number of benefits which
includes sleeping better stimulating appetite reducing the risk of heart disease decreasing chances of
dementia and improving strength and balance. The helps in providing mobility today ageing individual
and also getting involved with family, community and group activities (Helbostad et al. 2017).
The maintenance of healthy ageing can only be sustained with help of a healthy and a balanced diet. Diet
and eating habits forms a crucial factor in determining the longevity of health and well-being of
individual’s. Hence it becomes essential for maintaining healthy and active ageing regular health check-
ups are undertaken. The maintenance of good food habit helps in sustaining major risk related to old age
problem and provides opportunities for living healthy and full life (Daskalopoulou et al. 2017).
The significance of environment on the quality of life led by older individuals is essentially important.
The support extended by the family also helps in motivating individuals to carry forward with a healthy
life.
The perception of healthy ageing that is reflected from the views of woman interviewed for the purpose of
study is in alignment with the ideal concepts related to Healthy ageing. As opined by Kuh, (2019),
identification of lifestyle factors and healthy behaviours influences the physical emotional and cognitive
fitness which decreases the risk of diseases. In fact diet and regular exercise what's the strength to cope
with diabetes and other Lifestyle related diseases which is very common in the old age. The relations
related to optimal diet use of supplements in diet for mental stimulation quality of sleep and interpersonal
abilities help in leading a healthy life in old age. The identification of behaviour influences health and
quality of life and also in forces preventions effort which improve upon metabolic status in healthy aging.
it is essential understand the fact that health problems may arise but it is more important 2 stay mentally
and physically active and age well. The positive attitude and meaningful engagements along with good
relationship with the friends and family members helps in providing a motivation to lead the healthy life.
The identification of social determinants related to Healthy aging includes cultural diversity, participation
in physical activity, environment, income and education of the individual. The resilience adoption of
lifestyle changes and dietary habits helps in building a successful ageing process and assist in optimal
functioning and participation in in all areas of individual’s personal and social life (Zaidi et al. 2017).
Conclusion
It can be safely concluded from the study that was successful and healthy ageing it is essential that older
adults adapt meaningful changes in the life to improve their physical, mental and social health. The
conceptualization of ageing is considered as a dynamic process and it is important to emphasize on the

psychosocial adaptation along with physical health for improving the quality of life in the adults. It is
important to recognise the fact that healthy ageing involves support and feeling of security provided by
the family and the social environment. The healthy ageing is related to ability of the individual to perform
behaviour related to self-care and ability in managing the individual's life for maintaining healthy habits
for a better and healthy life.
