Literature review
Literature review is very useful in filling gaps on the particular subject matter. It is useful
in critically examining and evaluating the viewpoints of various authors on the particular area of
study. It is very useful in reflecting various judgement and decision which is made by authors in
respect of bringing new aspects in research.
McGill and et.al., (2015) sought to analyse the fact that, healthy food means eating right
proportion, nutrition and quantity of food. It helps in maintaining the healthy lifestyle and
reduces various health risk. It is very crucial to understand the health conditions and functioning
of the individual in order to provide effective care services and healthy diet plan to the adults.
This helps in controlling the weights related issue by continuous physical exercise. Healthy diet
results in better nutrition to the body which in turn improves the overall mental as well as
physical health of an individual. This in turn reduces the impact of various illness such as heart
strokes, chronic disease, cancer, dementia, etc. Consumption of high nutrition, low calorie food
results in better health results and outcomes. Healthy diet plan helps in controlling the blood
pressure and cholesterol in the body. Blue and et.al., (2016) argued that, healthy food results in
smooth blood flow in the body and decreasing the risk of various health problems and
cardiovascular disease in the body. A healthy diet is the one which is rich in vegetable, fruits,
low fat dairy and whole grains in order to reduce the risk of heart disease. It helps in avoiding
packaged and process for better quality of life. Fresh and healthy food is a good source of
vitamins and fibres which in turn results in turn results in high operational growth and efficiency.
Importance of residential care in improving the quality of life of adults
As per the views of author Brown and et.al., (2019) residential care play an important
role in improving the life of adults. Residential care provide the rooms, food and beverage
facilities to the person who stay in residential houses rather than to their own house and with
their families. The adult are live in residential house for various purpose such as study, job etc.
There life and living habit is depended on the services provided by residential care. Residential
care provide the best food and beverages with the proper hygiene and nutrition which improves
the health of adults and children's. At the same time residential care also take all the safety and

lightning etc. Residential care provide the proper food, shelter and play ground to the adults, so
the overall development can be done without any problems.
Jack, (2016) argued that if the residential care does provide the efficient services to the
adults than it affect their overall development. As well as it also increases the safety issues and
affect the mental health of adults. The role of residential care is to provide the healthy food and
services with the proper care to adults if they are fail to provide that services than it affect the
health of the adults and spread disease, infection in the environment. Further, author explains
that residential care has to take proper care regarding the health and safety aspect to improve
their performance and health of the adults.
Challenges faced by residential care to integrate healthy food habits among adults
According to the Van Breda and Dickens, (2016) residential care has to face various
problems while integrate the habits of healthy food among the adults because due to the fast food
culture and busy schedule life adults prefer to eat the ready-made food or fast food which affect
their health so the residential care has to develop the habit of healthy food among the adults.
They have to face various challenges such as fluctuation of mood, different taste and preferences,
time schedule, health issues, allergic to the certain ingredients etc. As per the author they also
have to face various challenges in managing the adults' health because in residential care
different people love together with the different taste and preferences & with different health
issues. So the residential care has to take care of each adult to maintain their health and provide
healthy food according to their interest and health which create problems to managing the
residential care.
Ailabouni and et.al., (2016) argued that rather than to the taste and preferences of adults,
residential care also has to face many problems or challenges while developing the habit of
healthy food in adults. To develop the habit of healthy food residential care has to fix or schedule
the diet of each individual and implement according to their schedule but each individual has
different time schedule so to develop the habit of healthy food among the adults they have to
face challenges. Author also explains that residential care also has to problem to tight the diet of
the adults because the mood of adults is fluctuated according to the different environment and
group so to maintain their diet and develop the habit of healthy food they have to explain the
advantages of healthy diet to the adults.

Research methodology is a strategic approach as it helps in critically evaluating the
reliability and validity of the data in a systematic and efficient manner. It helps in filling the gaps
and broadening the knowledge on the particular area of study.

Critical path

Literature reviews carries the overall summary of the research and also through this
procedure various judgement is to be authorised which is gathered from various authors. Thus, it
is the scholar paper which concludes the overall findings from the research topic which is
collected by undertaking reviews, thoughts and decision of various authors. It also result in
gathering information from secondary sources such as articles, magazines, books and other
relevant area from where information is to be determined (Swinburn and et.al., 2015). The main
aspects of choosing the literature reviews is that it not includes original information, as data
which is relevant to the selected topic is to be gathered from secondary sources. In this research,
the topic as healthy food affect the life of individual in residential care reflects various
judgement and decision which is made by authors in respect of bringing new aspects in research.
Theme 1: Impact of healthy food on individual
McGill and et.al., (2015) Suggested that the positive impact of choosing the healthy foods
is resulting in controlling the weights related issue and also make the person energetic by having
the continuous physical exercises. As the major problems arises due to not preferring the healthy
products. In that case heathy foods, helps the person to losses weight by preferring to eat the
food timely and also select lot of fruits and vegetables in their foods products. The positive
impact resulting in improving the memory level and also reduces the chronic diseases such as
cancer, heart stroke or any other major aspects which harm body in wider ways.

exercise results in various body issue such as back bone problems or stoppage in functioning of
any body parts. Thus, proper recommendation is to be taken from the doctors regarding doing the
exercises as every person had different body shape and also the diseases can be occurs through
different ways. By choosing the heathy foods is not necessary, proper nutrients with multi grain
vitamin and low calories products are to be preferred which helps the individual to maintain their
body weight for longer time period. As it is not necessary that every time healthy foods are to be
preferred to maintain the body weight and sometimes other types of foods are to be preferred but
proper exercises are to be executed with the doctors helps. So that the body issue not to be
reflected in future perspective.
Blue and et.al., (2016) examined that the long term benefits which is gained by choosing
the healthy products reflecting in respect of balancing the diet plan and also exercising on routine
bases. Through this, planning proper diet plan is to be execute and also it schedule the overall
activity of the person. As it bring a proper tabular format regarding availing the healthy food and
also they get the proper nutrients through choosing the right food and eating the foods on right
time. In this time management also play an important role as it is interpreted that to eat foods at
midnight harm the body as it is not properly digested which resulting in having major health
issue.
Adams and et.al., (2016) criticised that the proper diet plan is to be instructed by doctors
reading the amount of usage which the individual had to commit on regular bases. As the need of
every person are different and thus the ratio of eating the healthy foods are also depends upon the
needs of body. Thus balancing the diet plan sometimes resulting in bringing lot of weakness to
the individual. As person is energetic of they get the accurate food products within the stipulated
time. Thus if they skip any of their diet plan or not stick to their diet plan on any day it resulting
in bringing lot of challenges which they had to face to overcome from such factors.
Theme 2: Importance of residential care in improving the quality of life of adults
As per Watkins and et.al., (2017) interviewed that residential care is mainly given to
children and adult for giving the long term care rather than putting them in their own home. The
major importances which are provided to adult are in respect of safety factors which is provided
by nurses and other person which are working in residential care. As the safety factors are in
Paraphrase This Document

their time by sharing their decision and activity which they participate in the residential care.
On the contradictory to the Parsons and et.al., (2017) states that safety issue sometime
affecting the policies of the residential care. As if the liability is given to the adults and children
in respect of meeting their family members on regular bases than it results in bringing lot of
consequence (Long Term Care and A good Quality of Life: Bringing them closer together, 2019).
To improve the condition of children and adults, it is important than their family member is near
by them but not on regular bases. As it reflect the interest of the people and they are not ready to
stay at such places for better improvement in their life.
Devlin and et.al., (2018) overviewed that by creating homely environment helps the adult
to develop more interest in residential care services. As in this, the person working under
residential care had to take more strategies to maintain the interest of the adult towards their
services. As through this procedure they can more understand the feeling of the people and also
they can spend time with their family members. The results of the quality life is to be reflected
by having the positive attitude of the patient at the time of treatment. Thus, to provide the feeling
of home and also the activities which they are committing such as interacting with each other,
taking their own decision helps them to improve the condition of life in better way.
Watkins and et.al., (2017) criticised that if the treatment is to be done to improve the
condition through providing the home environment in that perspective, providing homely
environment not necessary always result in having positive aspects. As if they get the smell of
the food which they prepared at home or the choice of eating their own prefer products, it results
in affecting the treatment which they are getting in improving their condition.
Theme 3: Challenges faced by residential care to integrate healthy food habits among adults
According to the Cousins and et.al., (2016) challenges which is faced by residential care
is relating to the mood fluctuation which happens at the time of viewing the foods or inhaling the
smell of the food. As the residential care for e.g. Auburn Mere is providing the homely
environment to the person, so that they can eat and complete their food. With maintaining the
healthy food habits, the foods is to be made according to their own choice. This helps to recover
from their diseases in better way and also they are getting healthy eatable on timely bases. By the
factors related to mood swings, they are not concentrating on the damages which they are
inviting through availing the healthy products.

increasing their health issue. As through this aspect they are neglecting to prefer the healthy
foods which is needed for improving their condition. Through mood swings, lot of diseases are
invited such as over thinking, taking stress or not eating the food timely which bring lot of
challenges but also give chances to fulfil their wish for single time. As to prefer their own
choices of good for once make them feel more energetic and also it result in bringing more
chances in having improvement in their health conditions.
Barron and West (2017) stated that the another challenges which is faced by residential
care is in respective of managing their health status. As every residence which are residing in
residential care are from different culture and also they are suffering from different health issue.
Thus, to manage the needs and demand of every residences is difficult which result in bringing
major challenge faced in respect of maintaining the quality food products. They had different
techniques of eating the food and also the nutrients which they are getting by preferring such
food in not getting accurate. In this perspective proper training is to be committed regarding the
eating habits and the benefits which is raised by eating at proper way.
Warner, Parr and Cusack (2019) criticised that the culture differences is not the major
issue which is faced by the residential care regarding eating habits. As the demand regarding the
availability of the products are different for different residences. Thus, to manage them in proper
way, innovative methods is used by the care homes for e.g. Auburn Mere used various methods
which enhances their interest in respective of maintaining for longer time period (Auburn Mere,
2019). By this factors they can also taste the foods of different cultures and through this healthy
food products are to be chosen to improve the condition in better perspective. Management is
must in every aspects and also various residences are engaged in residential care, thus to make
proper management in respect of examining their health issue and also their allergy regarding
preferring such food products helps to manage their working in better way.
TASK 3: RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research methods- it refers to as the ways or different methods through which the research can
be carried on and can be reached to some conclusions. There are two different types of methods
which can be applied in way of accomplishing the research and achieve its aims and objectives.
These two methods are quantitative method and qualitative method (Taylor, Bogdan and De
Vault, 2015). The quantitative method is a type of process which includes numbers and some

method is a type of method which helps in studying the attributes, behaviour and beliefs in order
to reach to some conclusion and achieve the aims and objectives. In the present study the
researcher has used the qualitative research because it needs to examine the fact that healthy food
affect the life of the residents.
Research philosophy- it refers to as the assumptions which are underlying the whole
research process. Every study is based on some assumptions which needs to be taken care of. In
the same way the research is also based on some few assumption or philosophies. These
philosophies are of two different types that is interpretivism and positivism (Caillaud, Rose and
Goepp, 2016). The interpretivism refers to as a philosophy within which the research tries to
interpret all the elements of the research study. Whereas in contrast positivism is a philosophy
which is abided by the knowledge which is factual that is based on facts and findings which are
based on observations of the research. For the following research the scholar has used
interpretivism because of the reason that the research is qualitative in nature.
Research approach- research approach refers to the procedure or the plan which
encompasses of different steps relating to how the research will be conducted and how the data
will be analysed and evaluated and interpreted. Mainly there are of two types of approach like
inductive and deductive. Inductive approach refers to as the method which does not involve
formulation of any type of hypotheses and just starts with the aims and objectives and relating
research questions. The another approach is deductive wherein for reaching to some conclusion
hypotheses are formed and data is analysed and interpreted. For conducting the present research
the researcher has used inductive approach because the research type is qualitative and with this
research type the most suitable approach is inductive (Tobi and Kampen, 2018).
Research design- the research design is stated as the framework of the methods and
different types of techniques which are been selected by the residents and are combined by them
in order to find some logical and practical outcomes so that the research aims and objectives of
the research are accomplished. The research design are of two different types which are
descriptive and exploratory research design (Antwi and Hamza, 2015). The descriptive research
is a type of research wherein the researcher describes the whole case or the situation on which
the research is based. As it describes the whole scenario of the research, therefore, it is a
theoretical based research design. In contrary, the exploratory research is is used in order to
Paraphrase This Document

research aims and objectives are achieved. For the current research study the scholar has used
descriptive research design because of the fact that it helps in gathering and analysing and
evaluating the collected data and drawing some inferences from them.
Data collection- it refers to as the accumulation and collection of the data relating to the
research problem. The data is collected because of the reason that the problem needs to be solved
and for this there is requirement of evaluating the data. Therefore this data can be collected from
two different sources that is primary and secondary source of data (Fox and Alldred, 2015). The
primary source of data is the first hand data which is collected directly from the source of its
generation. On the other hand the secondary source of data is the source which provides already
used information which have been used earlier in other research. For accomplishing the
following study the researcher has used a combination of both the primary and secondary data.
Sampling- it refers to as the technique of selecting some samples from the whole
population. For conducting the study the research has a population which it has to study and
draw inferences from them. There are two ways of doing sampling that is probabilistic and non-
probabilistic sampling. The probabilistic sampling is a type wherein every sample has an equal
chance of getting selected (Ahmed, Opoku and Aziz, eds., 2016). In contrary to this non-
probabilistic sampling is a type where samples are selected non randomly that is every sample do
not have equal opportunity of getting selected. For the present research the scholars has used 20
samples of care providers.
Data analysis: After collecting raw data, it is evaluated and transformed into meaningful
information. This benefits researcher in decision making. It is a process of statistical presenting
and interpreting data to find out the patterns or trends which are useful in completing the
research. There are several data analysis methods such as data mining, business intelligence, data
visualization and text analysis. Firstly data is collected and themes are formed then data is
presented in visual form by making graphs and then it is interpreted. Data is analysed with the
use of graphs or SPSS. In the present report graphs are used to analyse the importance of
residential care in improving the quality of life of adults and children.
Ethical consideration: It is one of the essential part of research, it determines the way
researcher conducts the research. Before collecting data, researcher need to take consent from the
respondents. Researcher need to maintain confidentiality and not disclose any information of

right. Researcher need to ensure that the data collected is real, accurate and collected from valid
sources. Researcher need to respect dignity of respondents and do not harm them. Researcher
need to make sure that employees of the company are not hurt physically or mentally.

RECOMMENDATIONS
There are some recommendation for Auburn Mere to improve affect of healthy food
which are as follows:
Auburn Mere need to focus on social and behavioural determinants of diseases like
dementia and disability. Auburn Mere should also focus on their cultural beliefs because
there are many people coming from different cultures. Some of them eat non-veg while
others do not. Respecting their cultures will motivate them to eat healthy food.
Auburn Mere need to consult doctor's before making diet plans. It is essential to consult a
doctor because some elders suffer from allergies so it is important for residential care to
keep this in mind while preparing diet plan. It will be easy for residential care in making
diet plans and make them eat healthy foods.
Auburn Mere should also take preference from elders before making their diet routine for
example some of them does not like milk so instead of giving milk residential care need
to provide curd or other dairy products which is substitute of milk in providing calcium to
the body.
