AI Summary
This report examines the critical role of a healthy working environment in business success. It begins by defining the issue and its impact on productivity and employee relations, referencing Demerouti et al. (2014) and Salin (2015) to highlight the negative consequences of an unhealthy environment. The research aims to determine the effectiveness and significance of a healthy working environment, outlining objectives to understand its characteristics, analyze affecting factors, investigate benefits, and offer recommendations for improvement. The methodology employs positivism philosophy, a deductive approach, descriptive design, and survey research strategy, utilizing secondary data and quantitative analysis to assess the opinions of employees. The report also acknowledges limitations, such as potential differences in employee opinions and variations across business sectors. References include Arezes, P. M., Dinis-Carvalho & Alves, (2015), Bresler & Stake, (2017), Kumar, (2019), Mackey & Gass, (2015), Oldham & Da Silva, (2015), Taylor, Bogdan & DeVault, (2015) and Linton et al., (2015).

Title and study area
The title of the study is to analyze the importance of a healthy working environment in
business.
The study area is management and focuses in determining the issues and challenges those
arise within the organization in establishing a positive working environment along with
considering the benefits of having a positive working environment within the organization or
business.
Problem statement
Absence of healthy working environment is problem because it affects the overall nature
of the atmosphere where the employees work for achieving the organizational aim and
objectives. According to Demerouti et al. (2014), business productivity is affected negatively
when healthy working environment is absent because the coherency and co-ordination among the
employees is absent that disturbs the smooth flow of work. Additionally, the employees lack
mutual support, co-operation and respect for each other that gives rise of unhealthy competition
thereby, affecting the effectiveness and efficiency of the employees. As a result, the business is
unable to achieve the set goals and improve their quality thereby, creating a negative image
about them in the business sector or industry (Salin, 2015). However, as argued by Oldham and
Da Silva (2015), only healthy working environment is not important for a business to be
successful because other factors such as resources also plays a crucial role.

Research aim, objectives and scope of the study
The aim of the research is to determine the effectiveness and significance of a healthy
working environment in business.
The potential objectives for achieving the research aim are:
To understand the characteristics of a healthy working environment
To analyze critically the various factors affecting the establishment of a healthy working
environment
To investigate the benefits of a healthy working environment in business
To identify the loopholes those arise while establishing a positive working environment
To provide suitable recommendations for establishing a positive working environment in
business
Investigating the research topic is significant because this will help in understanding the
consequences of not having a positive and healthy working environment in a business.
Undertaking the research will help in analyzing the factors of establishing a positive working
environment and the relation of it with a successful business organization. As a result, the
success of a business can be determined in the presence or absence of a positive working
environment. The future scope of the research is that the potential reasons that lead to the
development of unhealthy working environment can be understood followed by determining the
consequences of it for a business (Arezes, Dinis-Carvalho & Alves, 2015).
However, the imitation of the study might be lack of difference in the opinion of individual
employees in a business by communicating with them personally. Additionally, the distinctive

nature of each business sector can act as limitation because the reasons of not having a healthy
working environment are different as well (Linton et al., 2015).
Methodology, sources of secondary data and data analysis
For undertaking the research “the importance of a healthy working environment in a
business”, positivism philosophy, deductive approach, descriptive design and survey research
strategy will be best suited. Positivism philosophy will help in achieving the aim of the research
by statistical data and interpreting the opinion of the respondents about having a healthy working
environment (Kumar, 2019). Deductive approach will be justified because this will allow
referring the previously existing theories, concepts and literatures about healthy working
environment in a business thereby, justifying their significance. Descriptive design, on the other
hand, will help in identifying the issues those arise while developing a healthy and positive
working environment as well as the reason that makes difficult in developing a healthy working
environment thereby, studying the cause and impact relationship of the variables (Mackey &
Gass, 2015).
Survey research strategy will be best suited because this will help in collecting the
opinion of the stakeholders of the business for knowing their opinion about the significance of
having a healthy working environment and the issues and benefits that comes with it. In doing
so, probability sampling technique will be the most appropriate because this will allow each
individual from the selected population to share their opinion regarding the topic (Taylor,
Bogdan & DeVault, 2015). 70 employees in a business will be selected whose opinion regarding
having a healthy working environment will be considered. As a result, primary data collection
process and quantitative data analysis technique will be used. Quantitative data collection

process will help in interpreting the opinion of the employees of the business in numbers and
supported accordingly with the help of both descriptive and inferential analysis (Bresler & Stake,
2017).
