INTRODUCTION
Heart disease is a collective term that covers various kind diseases that occurs in the
heart. Heart disease can refer to any disease such as Coronary heart disease, arrhythmia,
myocardial infarction, and cardiovascular disease and any other types of disease (cdc.gov, 2017).
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), heart disease is the primary disease, which
is the cause of death of the majority of the population of the United States, United Kingdom and
other countries. One in every five deaths in the United States occurs due to the result of heart
disease. According to a survey which was done in the year 2018 it was seen that around 4.7% of
adults were reported by their health professionals that they have a chronic heart disease
(americashealthrankings.org, 2019). In the following paragraphs, detailed research on the affect
of heart diseases on the population of Kansas City, Missouri will be conducted.
DISCUSSION
Description of Kansas City, Missouri
Kansas City is the largest city in the United State of Missouri. As per the US Census
Bureau, the currently estimated population of the city is 491,918. It is the 38th most populated
city of US. Kansas City was founded in the 1830s as a Missouri River port at its confluence with
the Kansas River coming in from the west (americashealthrankings.org. 2019). Considering the
fact that, there are several reasons that give rise to heart disease, such as pollution, smoking,
obesity, diabetes, poor diet, physically inactive, and excessive alcohol usage, the percentage of
heart diseases in them mentioned city has gone high post 2011 (Cardiovascular diseases affect
nearly half of American adults, statistics show., 2019).
Description of the Target population

The heart disease rate in male is 4.6 percent where as in female it is 3.3 percent. When it
comes to age, 11 percent of the total population suffering from heart disease is of the age of or
above 65 years. The American Indian Race residing in the Kansas City has been found to be the
major Contributor of the mentioned disease (Heart Disease Facts & Statistics., 2017). 7.1
percent of the total mentioned population is suffering from heart disease. When it comes to
urbanicity, heart diseases are more prevalent in Urban areas of Kansas city compared to rural and
Suburb areas (Sun et al., 2015).
Relationship between heart disease and the population of Kansas City
A good number of heath factors that is responsible for heart disease in Kansas City. The chief
reasons behind high heat diseases include obesity and smoking. More than 32.5 percent of the
population is highly obese (mericashealthrankings. 2019). 20.8 percent of the total population
was suffering from smoking issue. Overweight as well as obesity may enhance the risk of several
health issues that includes diabetes, heart disease as well as certain cancer. In spite of highly
education rate, the awareness of the residents of the Kansas City is highly less. In order to
enhance the awareness of the residents, it is highly crucial for the government to organize
campaigns in order to ensure enhancement of awareness.
