Introduction
The emergency medical services include multiple divisions in any hospital or clinical
setting. The services that provide immediate care and need urgent attention for any disease
or injury. According to Tsai et al. (2014), emergency medical service is an integral part of the
health care system. The delay in the ambulance service would impose a higher risk of health
consequences among the individuals. Therefore, improving the quality of ambulance
services would have a direct impact on the health outcomes of patients (Fisher et al., 2015).
The major objective or primary role of ambulance services is to reach out to the people in
any emergencies. Another goal is to transport the individual who is sick or injured to a
relevant hospital or any healthcare facility. According to Aringhieri et al. (2017), the
ambulance services, therefore, address any emergency cases and often known as
emergency medical services. The team within the ambulance services includes healthcare
professionals who are capable of providing patient care along with the first aid service. This
paper intends to examine the effective schedules for the staff of emergency medical services
in delivering effective care towards the people and community.
Overview of Base Station
The base that provides emergency medical services has an ambulance facility for 24
hours and is operated for seven days. The staffs within the ambulance services include
paramedic staff, emergency care assistants, and emergency medical dispatchers. These
healthcare professionals working hours are for 12 hours a day. There is two shift in the base,
and the first shift starts from morning 8 to evening 8 pm. The second shift is from 8:00 pm to
08:00 am. This base includes three ambulances for providing emergency medicines.
However, the base is limited, with only one responder unit. The records of the base that
provided multiple services are 165 total calls in every month. The service provided by the
base is 80 and transported 85 cases that include 55 BLS, 21 ILS, and 9 ALS.

The effective scheduling of the staff and vehicle is important for delivering quick and adequate service to the people with emergencies.
Being the shift manager of ambulance services, it is important to critically analyse and assign the staff along with the vehicle for delivering the
services.
