Abstract
The heritage cities have been facing several challenges because of the rise of the cities
and modernization of the civilization. This continuous growth is quite important for the
challenges and opportunities for the heritage places as well. The views expressed by the authors
in this paper have opined several things on the different topics. Several things have been
explored in these considerations regarding the topics. These things are regarding the cultural,
environmental and economic sustenance regarding the development of the urban areas. This is
very much important in all the presentations.
According to Sim (2017), the role of the community is very much important that leads to
the change with sustainability. Other experts like Steg et al. (2013) has discussed about the
involvement of the community that takes care of the environment. In the words of Crang (2009),
the relationship between people and space is very much important. Apart from that, Gehl (2012)
has discussed about the importance of the urban planning at a local scale because it will result in
the sustainability of the society.
Five important themes as per the sources are:-
 The relationship between the people and space is based on reciprocity. They both interact
with each other and change with each other in a continuous manner.
 The vehicle traffic should be reduced and localized communities should work in the large
cities.. Thus the local community will be able to live better.
 In case of urban development in the community development and this will be a helpful
implementation indeed.

 Spaces based on history and environment can be protected and enhancements should be
caused from the planning processes.
 The changes of space have been interpreted in different manners and emphasis should be
given on the communities regarding context of social expectations.
Smart Cities 2.0: Barcelona (Sim, 2017)
In the explanations, Pomeroy has provided the example of the Barcelona City Council.
The relationship between Barcelona, their adoption of technology and their inhabitants has been
explored in this scenario. The adoption of the technologies has led to the betterment of the cities
in Barcelona and the living styles of this city have been improved as well. The financial crisis in
the year 2008 had left a crisis over the condition of Barcelona and the use of these technologies
gave the perfect answer to the decay of the city. The city council took a beautiful approach
through which various multi-national corporations had tied up with the technology solutions
authorities. In the year 2015, the leadership of the community had been changed and the focus
had been on the development of the community. Limitations had been done on the movement of
the vehicles. Between 2011 and 2015, the widespread marketing campaign had been
implemented there.
Histography of space, space in theory and history
According to Crang (2009), it should be said that physical space should be said as one of
the most important things for its use regarding the social scenario of time. The perception of
community and constructs of society should be viewed as one of the most important things for
the development of cartography. This is how the space can be understood from the perspective of
human beings. Space has impacts on the endeavors of human beings.
