INTRODUCTION
Heritage and cultural industry has seen remarkable growth in last 5 decades,
visiting various popular place is not considered as an integral part of an individual’s
life. Technology played significant role in success of this sector, most of the
promotion, ticket booking etc. is done online. In old time, government was not
interested in promoting this industry but when they started earning millions of
foreign currency, because of this sector, then they gave it proper attention.
Between 1900 – 1950 A.C. - This was the real time
when heritage and cultural industry saw tremendous
growth. People started visiting various countries in
order to know the famous. They wanted to hear the
story behind formation of a monument, some travellers
visit a location in order to get the basic information
about the material that is used in making of heritage
building. Incidents like world wars made a negative
impact on the development of this sector but after
1950, this industry saw remarkable growth. Besides
regular tourists, some people started travelling to other
country or state for the purpose of business of medical
treatment, they also started visiting cultural places
because of its increasing popular and growing
attractions. Sports and religious visits also played
crucial role in high growth of this sector.
GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
Before 1800 A.C. - In old days, people did not like to travel much because they had
no information about other places. This fear of uncertainty stopped them from
exploring various cultural and heritage sites. Proper route and mode of
transportation was other factors which check them to from travelling various
locations. Most of the travellers liked to visit religious places, they were not
interested in exploring heritage sites. People did not consider it as an industry
because they had no idea that it can generate revenue.
After 1950 A.C. – till now – This can be considered as
the golden period of this industry because
advancement in technology assisted many cultural
sites in gaining popular in short period of time.
Government also stared giving important to this
industry because this sector was giving them huge
amount of money which made a positive impact on
their foreign exchange. Nowadays, students are
making carrier in this field. They are visiting various
heritage sites for capturing mesmerizing photos of
historic monuments and nature. Companies operating
in this industry is earning millions of pounds in term of
revenue. Private firms are also helping government in
promoting a cultural place, they are investing huge
sum in advertising so potential tourist can visit
different heritage sites. Trained staff with better skills
is perfect example of development in tourism industry.
TIME LINE
Many attempts were made at different level that help
for the development of travel and tourism industry in
UK. Heritage and culture is required to protect so that
its advantage can be taken by future generation. There
are many pleasant and attractive sites in UK that has
significant effect on development of this industry.
