Observations
The main focus of United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is to provide
US citizens smooth health services & main objective is to safeguard their health. Health and
Human Services Department. Came into the establishment on April 11, 1953 (5 U.S.C. app.) by
Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. HHS takes cares & integrates below departments
under its
Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)
Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR)
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
Indian Health Service (IHS)
Some of the key observations, the value which it draws to benefit U.S. citizens are highlighted
below.
It’s a mix blend of fields in health, education, and social security so it provides health services
benefit to every U.S. citizen who requires it.
It hires experts from every field of research from doctors, nurses, patient’s services and
administration & to service all the age groups of US citizens.

From the health concerns of the US citizens, it also takes accountability in devising the scope of
new research & development, medicines, drugs & injection before permitting it publically. Even
the food industry of US should maintain the pre-requisite standards of the FDA before servicing
it out publically.
The success lies in hiring immensely talented employees who feel responsible & accountable in
servicing US citizens at any levels.
Even if the frauds occur at any levels at any department such as Health, Education or Welfare it's
easily traceable & identified people can be convicted of charges which can be imposing fines to
barring them from practicing further (Monette, 2013).
HHS has been able to generate success in meeting its goals & so far it has been able to execute,
implement as per the pre-requisite standards of various departments & authorities.
While doing an in-depth research some of the areas of concerns which it can improve upon is
often its noticed that Doctors or Nurses which commit frauds or are prosecuted in the criminal
investigations in a particular state of US & later on when it migrates to some other parts of US it
becomes difficult to keep a tab on an individual level. Hence, it should have a commonly issued
license which lists all the past recorded civil & criminal prosecutions. All the reasons for
migration to upgrading to new skills or qualifications should be detailed within the commonly
issued license.
Strategies
Some of the recommended strategies for improvement are

1) To raise more funds on a larger scale so that it provides uniform services such as
investigations, inspections at each level or departments serving the best of interest of US citizens.
2) It needs to inbuild its technology & investing more in it. It will help in detecting frauds,
identification of victim & of the suspect at a lower turnaround time. Quality results help in
overcoming all the barriers & serving US citizens within a short span of time (Kuczmarski,
2014).
3) To hire more professionals, provide training & development before onboarding them. It is
noticed that employees exit from a particular project & from the department results in delays &
lags. Hence there should always be sufficient requirement & hiring of skilled staff.
Experience
While researching & interviewing the prospective employees, agency, and staff of HHS it came
to my observation that employees should be well qualified & trained before taking them on
board. They should have a knowledge, hands-on experience with department or services they
will be providing to the department & people.
Each employee understands the requirement of the individuals who approach them & they are
able to accept numerous roles & feel responsible for servicing them at any level fulfilling the
goal of HHS.
Success depends entirely on the high-quality health care

Studying in-depth about the medicines, newly launched drugs, injections before giving
permission to use it by medical practices.
Analyzing the scope of research, development & setting up new horizons.
Some of the positive elements to be noticed were that the HHS studies the caliber, qualification
& skills set mastered from various fields. It includes professionals from various fields such as
doctors, nurses, administration, related to patient services, specialists, epidemiologists etc. &
accordingly offers them to service individuals.
Challenges faced during this process was a lack of time & providing a brief introductory
overview of the hiring process, recruitment , getting on board, verification & how they find
suitable leads to touchback with them (Hirano, 2005).
