A high performance organization can achieve the financial along with that of non-
financial results that is better than the peer group and it focuses in a disciplined manner on
the vital aspects of the organization. Cohesive team has that of well-defined roles and
common goal. This essay compares and contrast cohesive with that of non-cohesive teams
and its application on that of high performance organization.
The strength of a cohesive team lies in the fact that a cohesive team has a positive
team identity along with that of good working relationship. There is respect and trust in that
of a cohesive team and the weakness of a cohesive team is on account of the fact that the
developing of cohesion may take up a lot of time along with effort and this entire process can
prove to be strenuous for the employees of an organization (Bolman and Deal 2017). The
non- cohesive team on the other hand does not have well-defined roles along with that of
shared responsibility. The members work independently and there is no unity within the
team. The strength of a non-cohesive team is on account of the fact that everyone can show
their individual skills and the weakness arises due to the fact that there is no synergy in the
team. In order to establish cohesion, it is important that everyone should agree on a common
thing and everyone strives towards it. Productivity is established in this case by setting a goal
that is challenging. In relation to non-cohesive team there is no common goal and there is no
communication between the team members (Katzenbach and Smith 2015).
A high performance organization can be created with the help of a cohesive team. The
individual talents of the employees along with that of the skills of the other team members
proves to be of great benefit for the effective functioning of high performance organization.
Greater level pertaining to participation along with that of collaboration can help in giving
birth to a high performance team. The members trusting each other along with that of strong
sense in relation to team identity can produce a high performance work organization (Levi
2015). The team members appreciating the skills of each other can help in the progress of a

team in a high performance organization. A non-cohesive team cannot produce a high
performance organization because the employees do not collaborate on the different tasks.
Cohesiveness is a crucial factor that can lead to team effectiveness and highly effective team
needs the team support for the perfect functioning of high performance organization. There
are also facilities for team based rewards along with appraisal that can help in the superior
functioning of that of high performance organization. The open culture pertaining to a high
performance organization can help the team members in the aspect of collaboration and
communication helps them in resolving the disputes that arise in the organization. The
emotional intelligence of the cohesive teams plays an integral role for the development of
high performance organization.
